Future of Capcom Fighting games - lots of rumors

Capcom, Namco and Nintendo are also making a new 2.5D fighting game with gameplay that's a mix between Namco's 3D fighters, UMvC3 and the Smash Bros. series. 20 Capcom characters. 20 Nintendo characters. 20 Namco characters. Soul Calibur team is doing the character models and designs. UMvC3 team is working on the gameplay. Tekken team is working on netcode and also balancing. Smash Bros. team is making sure they add the tripping feature in this game. Look for an announcement next year.

Edit: Almost forgot my source.

Smash bros team and Soul Calibur Team are the same right now

Regardless whether you think they are shit characters or not is moot. Its selling an advantage to a group of players that are willing to fork out the coin. I guess there are no arguments over SFxTekken then?

If those characters were any good, then you would have a better point. But not one single person has found worth in Shuma or Jill, or at least enough to bother trying to win tournaments with them. It can even be argued that you're better off NOT buying them instead.

Gems aren't even used in tournaments, but the "pay 2 win" aspect is there, yes.

you're not lupinko ;-;

Good thing, I'm not. Lupinko can keep his job if he want to.

Have they leaked shit before or was it just a random post by a first timer?

Read what I said in OP, Karsticles had high regards for him, so it don't really change anything by THAT MUCH. Please take it with grain of salts.

I'm not sure since it's my first time that I have heard of this poster.

I'd like to know more about SFxT update

want to know if it's worth getting it on steam sale in a few weeks or to just wait until summer

Now we need meters for a fighter to be good?

Well why does he want no meters?

super bars aren't going anywhere in any fighting game

I did read the OP, I just wanted to know if anyone at all had heard about him.

I'm not so quick to write off Gamefaqs posters as there have been legit leaks that have come out of the place (Castlevania DS games) so I was hoping we had a something a little more concret on the person.

Er, just to be clear, my point wasn't "I trust him", but that he's a reputable community member on SRK who posts a lot of good info, so he seems trustworthy to me.

Sorry. Do regards meant high respect? If that is so. I don't really associate trust with regards.

oh the dlc characters aren't even on PC yet

fuck that I'll wait

I would rather them make a completely new type of 2D fighter instead of another Street Fighter based archetype with meters. We have enough of those, and we will continue to get them. Let the Capcom game be a new way to play a 2D fighter.

I wouldnt mind a new fighter with no meters, but i'd still like some sort of super attack. Nothing super combo dependent or too devastating though. The only 2D fighter i've played recently thats sorta innovative/ is P4Arena with the way the persona's and status attacks work.

Of course it would be nice to see some SNK style innovations (jumping into the background, cancelling out each others physical attacks by striking at the same time, a grapple system, anything).

Or just make it a 4 player Power Stone style fighter.

Oh

I thought guy was asking for a backwards step to pre-ST SF2 with the no meter thing.

If you want to make "a new way to play fighting games" getting rid of meters shouldn't be your aim. All you have then is just a fighting game without resource management, which isn't really new or interesting

Abandoning the SF legacy inputs and control scheme is where you start.

but I dont expect Capcom to do either

Response to Anarchy Reigns?

Wait. you're using gamefaqs forums as a reference for marvel updates? is this a joke!?

YOU THINK THIS IS MOTHA FUCKING GAME!?

Did anyone try that game yet? I see that it is going to release in America next month!

Bought it in July. Liked it well enough

Hasn't even been a year yet and it's already dead on the Japanese side during most times of the day.

Good luck finding matches a year from now in an effort to save 15 bucks

Yep, that is what I'm getting at. And I don't want a super meter in there either. Let something else determine a knockout blow for once.

Basically, I want Capcom to make something as out of the box as Smash Bros. That game is quite literally everything SF doesn't represent. While it doesn't have to be that extreme, I would like something that is a step away from the classic fighter set up. Other companies have tried, but let's be honest...capcom quite often does magic when it comes to fighters. Especially compared to the competition. I would like to see them reinvent it again. It would require some patience from the community as well to actually be honed and tightened to the levels we now have with SF, which I doubt they would give it lol.

I still don't know anything about this game at all. I need to look it up.

But yeah, it ain't happening. Just wishing on a star over here.

Eh, That's bad news. Do it have any big flaws that caused Japanese to drop the games? or they just preferred SSB?

No one bought it

and people moved on to other games

Nothing wrong with it. Happens to most online games

I was disappointed with how fast it died on gaf more than anything though

Been saying this for a while ... capcom WANTS to make their smash bros, but they don't know how ... and THIS is the main reason why they should make Nintendo vs Capcom.

And then Capcom can make their smash bros Pocket Fighter style

You won't get the chance if you wait until then

no one will be online

I think it got a bum rap. In my eyes, pretty much everyone who was jazzed about the game had american preorders, most didn't want to pay the extra 20 dollars for shipping from japan. With the game coming out in america at 30 bucks next month, I think there should be a pretty okay fanbase for a while. They made it so cheap it's pretty much an impulse buy. If they can push for XBLM, it basically comes free with a LIVE account.

I'm excited to play it though, it looks fun.

I don't believe any of those Marvel vs. rumors.
Why would they make another version of MvC3 when the team has already started their own other projects and that panel they had months ago about the 'dream' bullshit they wished they could include?

which is why I don't get why he's waiting a year to begin with

Doesnt it release in January 2013 for North America? And by at a bargain, I meant its already releasing pretty cheap, so buying a game of that quality and at that launch price = steal.

I thought it was too much of a coincidence that Ono talked about updating AE, the day before the IPL announcement. I could see this update happening.

After seeing the DS Are Not Dead trailer, it sounds like DSIV was greenlit, but who knows when we'll see it.

Capcom did trademark Fighters of Capcom as a videogame, who knows what will come of that, though. It doesn't necessarily have to be some kind of Capcom VS Capcom game.

I don't think there will be any more MVC3 updates or even ports. Which sucks because I would like to see it on Wii U.

I read that as waiting a year for it to be even cheaper lol

Misread. Too used to the scrooges on here

Game will def be fun in January. Looking forward to US release just to play people again
