Future of Capcom Fighting games - lots of rumors

These all sound like BS rumors... Hell the marvel update that was going to have Megaman, Servebot, Antman, and Cyclops sounded more believable than this... As much as I want to believe... I don't know if I can...

Also How doesn't Capcom still have the marvel license? Of course they do, UMVC3 is still being sold in stores and you can still buy it digitally on PSN. Unlike Tatsunoko vs Capcom which no more copies are being made and cannot be sold digitally because capcom recently lost the rights.


So the question is will capcom just sit on the license? I mean I hope marvel knows capcom can make a better fighter than ubisoft....

It's funny reading the Capcom doesn't know how to make something different enough from their usual FGs - Gem Fighter Mini-Mix has a lot of interesting steps in the right direction, from a reduced amount of buttons, removed block damage from special and supers, alternate commands for specials and a few other mechanics of its own, mixed with a look that's appealing enough to get new customers.


Anyway, the lack of SNK rumors in this thread is disturbing - there's this interview where something's vaguely hinted near the end, and CvS2 was released on the japanese PSN, which at least indicated Capcom and SNKP must be on speaking terms, since that would require clearing licensing issues... I'm taking all the hints I can...
 
So would it be safe to assume this could happen because Wii U? Since it has no fighters.... outside of the last tekken title.


Or is it better to assume Wii U will get no Street Fighter or Marvel vs Capcom?

Fuck off Capcom, I'm not buying it a third time. If that rumor is true.

I'm willing to hear more about the Capcom All-stars game is it's like Marvel but better balanced and a huge swath of Capcom characters. But I really can't see there being too many Capcom characters for what... 5-20 series to be put in a fighting game without major redundancies?

Change the Oil Slide input to Dragon Punch input. The current input overlap combined with the overzealous input assist consistently screws my Hakan.

Change the input to drop out of Oil Dive to a double tap down kick instead of, hold down kick + down + PPP. This is currently not a convenient input and playing finger twister to cancel out of Oil Dive is bullshit.

Adjust ashy Hakan so that his throws aren't a god damn joke when you're right up in the opponents face. Just because you haven't oiled up doesn't mean you should whiff throws in close quarters because of a character design conceit. It's so infuriating compared to other grapplers who have respectable grab range sans gimmicks, and who are even more lethal in close.

In a perfect world they'd bring over the Expert Input system from TKxSF for players who want nothing to do with input assist.

I'd double dip if there was a PC version. A PC version would ensure that there will be a community after this generation of consoles dies. Then I can play as Vergil forever.
 
The rumors sound whack, but i would really love to see x-man or nightcrawler in mahvel
 
street fighter 5. where u at. last game i bought was sf4 vanilla however many years ago that was. next game will be sf5. unless vf6 actually gets made...
 
I believe Nitsuma when he said they're done with Marvel. See you in 10 years on that one. I think Darkstalkers gets announced this year and maybe a Japanese arcade release. Capcom Allstars, TVC2, Jump vs Capcom...I guess it's most likely Nitsuma's team is working on an Allstars game. Street Fighter 5 is next gen. 2014 earliest.

And yea the only thing that is legit is the SSF4 update and DS4. The rest are unsubstantiated but I guess people can discuss them if they want.
 
Yea, Darkstalkers 4 is for sure happening. Top players eem to believe that AE 2013 is real too. Will be interesting to see what capcom shows next week.
 
I am curious what project that Niitsuma have been working on. His last job was UMVC3 which should be done by Sept/Oct 2011 when it went gold.
 
Are Capcom sprites dead? Any chance they make a comeback? Not really digging SF4/MvC3 models anymore, while much of their old sprite work is still beautiful.

Pretty safe to say that Darksiders 4 is happening, I mean, all the art for SF X Tekken was done a looong time ago, those people must have been busy on something since.

Just read up on the IPL structure.

This is how TCG events are structured, and is totally the way to go with this. A much better approach than MLG's.
 
And there's meant to be a surprise at the SF25th anniversary finals which is pretty soon. I know everyone already knows this, but i don't think its been mentioned in this thread yet.

I almost DON'T want to see a new SF4 update since the game has pretty great balance right now and I'm scared theyll fuck it up.

On the other hand they probably should fix unblockables. Id be all for it if they ported a SFxT char along with the patch... I just want Elena in SF4... sigh

If they do Darkstalkers, it needs to be cel animation again, or at the very least, make it closer to SF4 than the way SF x Tekken and especially the way MvC3 looks (ughhh!).

Prepare to be disappointed. I suspect this game is going to look exactly like marvel. I think fans would pitch a fit if Felicia or Morrigan turned out chunky.
