Fighting Games Weekly | December 10-16 | The roads are still safe from Justin Wong

Basically him and Zmt said Gaf is hard to get into they went on a little rant about it, Zmt said most of FGC Gaf is made up of casuals which is true.
Every game is made up mostly of casuals. It's why PSABR going straight for the "hardcore" was such a bizarre decision.

One thing that irritates me about the FGC is this idea that if you don't frequently make it out to events, then it's automatically because you're lazy or don't want to support the scene or whatever the fuck. I'm sure that's true for some, but others just have different priorities or different lots in life. Or in my case, you live out in the middle of nowhere in FGC terms and have to deal with medical BS that leaves you in discomfort 75% of the time.

I wanna make it out to FR though. I miss tournaments. Shit's dope.

Jaxel runs good streams I think. Everything else he does is up for opinion of course.

This.

Empire stream.

-=Cammy lands roundhouse=- Ooooooooooooooooooooo. OOOooohhhh. Ahhhhhhh. Ooooooooooooooo. Oooooohhhhhhhhhhh.

Watching the Yipes/MarlinPie set right now and man is this some good marble or what.

The instant overheads from Marlin's Viper are out of this world. I did not know she was capable of these levels of filth. I'm sitting here absolutely disgusted.

At 22:22 I felt it. Yipes face appropriate for that.

I spectate everything and play AE '12 and Marvel. Problem is that I want to get better but can't find time because of social life and school

Kinda why I keep buying new games, even though I don't really have the time to really play / improve. The newest games have the biggest pools of other new players to play with. Plus the learning curve when first picking up a new game is always the fastest part of the learning curve. Going from not knowing what the crap is going on at all, to being ok, can just be an hour or two a week for a month or two and the whole time you feel your skills progressing really quickly. Going from ok to legitimately good takes + hours a week of play and you can often feel yourself stalling and not making as much progress.

So I continue to game hop around (though I'll play some old favorites every so often like SFIII), it's the most enjoyable for me as a casual to play with the other casuals and enjoy the sweet part of the learning curve for multiple different games.

I consider my self pretty casual even though I sunk thousands of hours across many fighting games. I can't take fighting games that serious because I don't have a bunch of people around me to play locally. Zero motivation = I can't grow that much as a player. Also, my execution on stick in general is just atrocious, and I don't see it improving ever. The only game that I would consider my self competent at is ST, but I enjoy playing any other fighting game. I try to learn every game, and maybe one or two characters. I never stick to one game unless it's fun to play, and it has good online (which is a hard match). My biggest regret is not spending enough time with the games I do enjoy (I barely play st any more, and I should of played P4A way more).

The games I used to play competitively are all dead (cs,ut,quake), and after 1000 hours of dota 2 I never want to ever play it again. So, ya I watch a lot of FGC streams, and play FG's on the side. I'll probably never go to a tournament ever, but did meet someone in my old school who goes to NEC every year, and we played 3s, and ST on his laptop after class. Good times.

It's one thing if you have a life and don't want to make it out to events, it's another thing if you are a stream monster thinking you are entitled to things from streams/TOs when you are not someone they give a damn about. People tell you to come out to events only when you fail to understand that the whole purpose of streams is to get people to come to events, not to entertain those sitting in their butts at home.

The overheads are old... but I never seen [j.L > j.H]. Too good.

Wow.. Alioune is 5-0 right now against the king? Goddamn.

I hope they play Marvel later, I want to see Alioune's mythical Magnus in actual matches.

EDIT: Lmao @ Guiness World Records being plastered all over the page.

I consider myself causual just because I can't make it out to tournaments *Can't Drive, No friends that have interest in going, Need Wheel chair now, Money issues, and so on.*

Even though most of GAF is free to me in almost everything I spend a little time on :P

I'm a casual myself. I rarely get the time to practice anymore because of school. I've also only been to locals. I'll be done with exams this week and will be heading to a local tourney on Saturday. Also, I hope to play with some of you guys online during winter break.

Dieminion seems almost happy to see sanford go through what he went through when he faced alioune in europe and got 0-30 or something a while back.

If you can actually consistently body me in an arc sys game I'll buy you a box of cookies cause I'll be damn impressed. In other words not gonna happen.

Also someone hook me up with the sf4 ae 2012 "tier list"

Shit, I've been spectator monstering since long before streams were a thing. I decided early in Marvel 2's life that I have more fun watching it than playing it, and spent years at the arcade watching matches in between games of DDR. Yeah I still play sometimes, but Marvel's always been a spectator game for me. Nowadays streams just make watching the game way more convenient.

00'er spectator here. Get on my level, minions.

That just comes with the territory of more niche hobbies. Due to the more personal and intimate encounters that smaller activities provide, people tend to look at involvement as all or nothing, since the addition of even a few members can make or break a scene.

Larger hobbies, are a lot more encompassing for acceptance of varying interest levels. Example - 99% of the people that watch/support/etc. basketball have no interest in becoming the next jordan, but love watching games and doing fantasy basketball etc. etc. I love watching MMA, but hell no am I ever gonna actually do a match or train for it. Or say people that are into cars have no problem being enthusiasts with other casual folks. FG's just aren't that big yet.

But I always say the hobby is for YOUR enjoyment, just like any other hobby on the planet. I have no problem going to tourneys or gatherings at my convenience. I have no intentions of ever being the best, but I do enjoy competing and improving in a capacity that my schedule affords me.

I wonder if James Chen is taking notes.
He's too busy playing PSABR.

(actually)

Goddamn. Everyone on blast.

EDIT: Every single one of these matches has played out the same between Sanford and Alioune, damn.

you feel yourself a lot and although I haven't played you in an arc game stuff like that motivates me to beat someone in anything. No hard feelings meant but I'm coming for you son

If I would of played more, practiced some stuff, and 2C wasn't so godlike, I might of gotten more than 1 game on you! But I commend your slab despite her shittyness. I'll play you in CP when it comes out. I'll suck dick at it no doubt.

Trying to beat Q in an anime game is like carrying Master Roshi up Mt.Everest. Good luck with that.

Yeah but if you consistently play me you can get on my level pretty easy with a bit of research. Proto caught up to me in like a month only reason I ever stay ahead of him in anything is because of time restraints on his end. BBCT was the first fighter he ever took seriously too.

Haha even if you are bad at first it doesn't take THAT long to get at a competent level in arc sys games.

But what if I'm goku? If I loose ill just used the evil geniuses option selects anyway "you only good cause no one plays these games"

I like to challenge people though its how you get better

I'm the best Tobal 2 player on GAF. No contest.

EDIT: I should add turtle fighters, hyper dimension and yuu yuu hakusho genesis there too.
