Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

So, what do I do once the joysticks give out? I've had my Vita since the early US launch (Feb. 15th) and already both analog sticks are losing resistance. Not to mention that the rubber is quickly losing its texture.

Id suggest buying an additional year protection plan on PSN. It covers analog sticks (wear and tear), you have one year to purchase the plan. The year mark is approaching, so....do what you will :>

15 minutes and the screen is still off and or just all blue. Anyone?

20 mins now. Can I force it to shut down? Will I somehow brick it or something?

Can I buy this if the sticker with the serial number has peeled off and been lost on the Vita? I don't know if that is required to have if I ever need to return or what.

Then it's stupid of Sony to put something required to return on the OUTSIDE of the unit as a STICKER. Man they do some stupid things.

where else can they put it so you can see it? Yeah it being a sticker is stupid though. I have mine in that plastic madcatz case so i'll be fine. I learned my lesson with PSP.

Oh nothing wrong with having it on the outside, just when it's on the outside as a sticker. If you're going to put something that you HAVE to have on the unit on the outside, then don't make it a sticker.

Well, I think my Vita might be dead. I powered it down and now it won't seem to turn on although the blue PS button is remaining illuminated..

Finally responded to a hard reset and it is now in safe mode.

Have you tried holding the power button for like 60 seconds? It brings up a menu with stuff and you can reset it from there.

Once I got it to safe mode, I was able to reset it and then tried to update again.. got C3-12077-7 but I tried once more and used the option to connect via my PC and put it in airplane mode just to be safe and it looks like it worked. PHEW.

Get it replaced if you can.

So you think all of those problems aren't as bad as OLED having a little more probability (but in no way a guarantee) of burn-in? Despite it being superior to LCD in many ways?
Burn-in is permanent. LCDs have what you would call stuck pixels, which is not. The downside to LCDs is the blurring. Rather have that then a permanently damaged screen. Black levels dont bother me much.

LCD screens have burn-in too, or rather image retention which is essentially the same thing. My TV has it quite badly in fact. So you're saying that you'd rather have ghosting, input lag, more muted colors and bad black levels more than a higher CHANCE of getting burn-in.

Im on your side of the (lcd/oled) debate. The oled is just too nice to trade away. My sole Vita concerns being the blue diodes or whatev degrading in the screen, shoulder buttons and the analogs losing all tension...

anyways, SSASRT on Tues?

yay and hugs!

I feel dirty having bought a Nintendo Eshop card for Matsunos Crimson Shroud. I feel the need to balance out with a PSN purchase.

Didn't like it? Impressions from the OT have been pretty positive. I'm still on the fence, personally, but leaning more and more towards buying.

No, not that. It's just getting something from the Eshop.

I think I might have a heart attack when I eventually do that. I resisted buying anything Wii or DSi, and I'm telling myself not to buy anything digitally on Wii U/3DS. But I really want Crashmo...

I think I might need to get one of my friends to forcibly make me buy something on eShop, then I'll be all okay

You guys really don't need to be that paranoid, Nintendo can recover your games for you if need be. Granted it's a hassle, but it's not like you're risking anything.

I can't resist a Matsuno game.

Probably not. It's just a mental block I have. Every device I own, I can easily sync anything account related straight away. When I eventually get a Wii U and/or 3DS, it'll be the odd one out, and cause dissarray in my perfect little world :(

Still the main reason I'm probably paranoid is that this is the first time in 15 years that I currently do not own a Nintendo product. I've exhausted both Wii and DS and sold them in preparation for Wii U and 3DS. But until I actually get either, I have this weird feeling that comes with not owning a Nintendo system and it just feels strange, and makes me paranoid about Nintendo for some reason.

I suspect once I buy another Nintendo platform and actually start playing games, I'll be fine again. Still contemplating whether to get Unchained Blades now on Vita or wait till I have a 3DS

I can't resist a Matsuno game.
I think the last Matsuno game I played was FFXII, if that even counts. It's been a while like for me

PSP version on the Vita, that is, I assume. :)

You might as well get it now, I don't think the eShop version will be much better, if at all. Aside from being in 3D, is there anything?

edit: the map is permanently on the lower screen instead of toggled. I guess that's slightly convenient. Still, pretty trivial.

wtf thread

y u move so fast

Weirdest PSASBR glitch yet.

Wait, Unchained Blades is on Vita? When did this happen?

Yeah it's the PSP version on Vita. I was thinking the 3DS version might have some slight better effects since it's more powerful, and I don't really mind the wait since I've got several games to play.

I want MK Vita but it is so espenssive on psn

Any reason to not buy a retail copy? $20 is pretty decent considering the amount of content provided.

I am pretty stoked that I got my 32 GB card and LittleBigPlanet in the mail today. I have been excitedly watching all of the PS+ content downloading onto it after having to basically only have one game at a time previously.

depends on which one feel off. the one the starts with HU is not needed but the DC one is. I returned mine with one of the stickers gone.

We've been dealing with those issues with LCD, they're not that bad. Ghosting being the worst. Read up on how common it is th have image retention on oled vs LCD. Just read up on it. I love the browser of bed browsing, so thats why it bothers me.

If he's in Europe, it's free for PS+ starting this Wednesday.
We can only hope for the same in the US. Instead, we're going to get something stupid, like Reality Fighters.
The Vita has had such a good first year, that I forget the system launched with Little Deviants and that trash.

Heads will roll if they ever appear on PS+.

I'm hoping for anything but another fighting game. Thankfully we don't usually copy EU's deals, not immediately at least.

The only thing they could give me on Vita that I'd actually be happy about would be Blazblue or MK. Since I own both but refuse to pay the premium to own them digitally, I'd love to get either for free to put on my memory card and then sell my physical copy. Pretty much everything else good is either too new for us to get.

--------------
Asphalt: Injection -- no interest
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend -- own physically, wouldn't mind
Dungeon Hunter: Alliance -- no thanks

Touch My Katamari -- ehhhh, okay, but would rather something else
Lego Harry Potter: Years 5–7 -- no thanks, psp/ds port

Puddle -- no thanks
Sound Shapes -- already own, would be irritated
Madden NFL 13 -- no thanks
Zen Pinball 2 -- hard to give free anything here, though they could do a bundle...
FIFA 13 -- no thanks
LittleBigPlanet -- not bloody likely...

I can't see them giving out full retail games that came out *after* Gravity Rush's release yet (end of May).
They definitely wouldn't give out anything that released in October or later.

I've been so enthralled with Dynasty Warriors Next for the past two weeks I've really neglected Gravity Rush and Uncharted. Think I'll have to take the week before Christmas to really dig into both of them though. Once I get Persona 4 it will be over for my Vita for a while. Might save my PS+ months until after I get my platinum for P4G in case I lack things to play.

PS+ seems like a quicksand scheme to me. The more I invest in the service the more sense it makes to keep the service. I was thinking about buying Uncharted if it was on sale just to play at my own pace until I realized I could spend that money on more months of PS+ and keep playing Uncharted if I wanted to and get different free games.

Two weeks into owning my Vita I love it. I love the youtube app and watching a video or two before I go to bed. I have two great games in MK and Dynasty Warriors and another two fun ones that are free for another two weeks. Persona 4 is going to be amazing. Plus I think Sony is going to do what it takes to keep the system going.

Glad I got a Vita, even if I have to split my video game funds between 3DS and Vita. As a handheld only gamer for now, having both of these feels good.

To be fair, most of the stuff that would piss you off would make me happy cause I don't own any of it. :V

Yeah, but in all reality, the likelihood of SCEA giving us ANY of the stuff that would piss me off is probably pretty low. Lumines and UMvC3 would piss me off so much since I *just* bought them at full retail (digital) the end of October. They'd be great games for someone who didn't own them, but the people complaining about too many fighters wouldn't be happy with UMvC3 and I think Lumines would be too niche for them to pick it.

As far as the irritations go? Eh, those are more of "this sucks cause I already own or have played and beaten/platinumed already". I get enough of that shit with PS+ for PS3. I don't need it happening on month 2 for Vita.

Now as far as the no thanks go? Well, sure, maybe it would make a bunch of other people happy and that's kinda cool, but still, where's the value for ME? ;)
I mean, hell, as far as the first month of PS+ for Vita went, I already owned 4/5 of the games, but at least I got digital copies of 2 games I wanted to "keep" for free. And the others? Well, the more who play MBA, the better and if the rest help sell systems, great! :P

It totally is, in that the longer you have it, the less likely you are to NOT renew. Even if the free games suck (hear, hear!), the features it affords on the PS3 and Vita are so swanky that it's still sort of worth it combined with continued access to the all the free games you have accumulated.

I'm glad to find someone happy with DW next. I think DW was actually a good showcase of Vita's capability (DW is indeed a CPU power hungry software).
The forced touch-screen combat turned me off a little bit, but it's normal that launch titles try to include system's new feature so I can forgive TK for that.

The touch screen stuff doesn't bother me too much. Some of the duels take fucking forever to finish but if you just counter what the AI does you never lose. Some of the ambush stuff during stages I can never seem to win. The mini games aren't really too bad. I love the DW series and I think Next captures most of what I love.

I want DW Next a lot, but im waiting on it to come to Plus.

Honestly, I don't particularly want great games on PS Plus. Trust me, I'd have been very happy if Japan had gotten a top title like Gravity Rush too, but instead we got it on "sale." I was really glad we got Sumioni for free though. That was a game I really wanted to play but didn't want to pay the insane Japan tax; it's retail price worked out to around $50 here. "Free" is a great price for games like that, though, and hopefully there'll be good discounts and more instant game collection games that are games I want to play, but didn't want to pay (full price) for.

If there was a flat 5% or 10% discount on the store as well, like the Nintendo elite bundle, that would be quite awesome as well. (Did I just suggest that Nintendo has good ideas about digital content!?)

I'd take Sumioni or another "premium" PSN retail release for free without complaint. Sumioni for sure. Maybe Dokuro or Escape Plan, though I didn't like the Escape Plan demo.
