Exactly. I also rewatched it again a few days ago and while it's definitely flawed it's not that bad.
It's not as bad as that hyperbole-laced post, but its pretty fucking terrible.

At least it's visually pleasing, right? It's not as bad as that hyperbole-laced post, but its pretty fucking terrible.
This is almost a ridiculous reaction on par with CaptYamato's "Avengers worst movie EVEEEEER destroyed my childhood and raped my mother" vendetta
At least it's visually pleasing, right?;_;
Just trying to stay positive. I want to like Prometheus so much, but rewatching the movie and actually thinking about it, the writing and the actions of the characters make it kinda hard, yeah.
I really like Prometheus and I don't care what any of you say.
But I mean, the movie is shit, so I'd actually be more bemused if the reaction was "holy shit the greatest sci-fi since the original Alien, restored my faith in the medium"
It's bad, but it's not "almost lost faith in the medium" bad. That's ridiculous. In fact, Prometheus is very fixable, even if you kept the same plot structure. That's not the kind of movie that should cause the kind of hyperbole seen on GAF.
Sometimes I think people haven't seen enough truly awful movies.
Yeah, that quite a hyperbole and by no means it is one of the worst anything, but it is terrible.
What are the things you consider fixable?

The bigest problem with Prometheus for me was that all the characters were irrational dumbfucks.
I'm almost 100% sure the reaction would have been positive toward Prometheus had there been better characterization through introductions / idle conversation to flesh out the archetypes, and had they acted / reacted more like real people to all the crazy happening around them. Even if you kept the framework of the script the same, it would've been a much less frustrating movie. Then, at least, people would be speculating about the narrative itself instead of why character X did or didn't do Y when Z happened.
Just go back and read reactions from the spoiler thread. Nearly every criticism had to do with the characters not acting like people, and the movie going from big events / reveals straight into the next scene with no followup.
But I don't think that can be done without having to change a lot.
You'd have to change dialogue, and rearrange some scenes, but even if they didn't answer one more question the audience is left with, I still think it would've been regarded more positively.C'mon. It doesn't take much to fix two instances like that. The problem is Prometheus is littered with those questionable moments.Dude pets an alien, and the guy mapping the caves got lost.
There are no good Moore Bond movies.
Those scenes you mention should have to be totally scrapped or changed to work.. We're not in the 80s anymore either, why have so many disposable characters? Though this is more of a nitpick.Maybe have the alien snake just attacking them instead of them acting like morons
I don't mind movies that leave questions, it how badly executed things are that annoys me. It bothered me because the movie was taking itself seriously. It made me care even less about it.
I don't think anyone doubted you were overreacting.I was obviously overreacting, guys.
But seriously, I can write an entire book on how many aspects of the film were awful.
Such an excellent premise gone to waste.
Tintin was pretty bad.
On a Herzhog binge.
Watched Into the Abyss, Cave of Forgotten dreams and Grizzly Man. Loved them all, CoFD was the least liked.
I loved Bad Lieutenant, little did I know this guy makes the best documentaries.
Darn tootin' it was.Tintin was pretty bad.
Tintin was pretty bad.
As a huge fan of Tintin comics growing up, the movie did not do much beside boring me.
I didn't finish it though, so I'll admit my opinion is to be taken with a hefty dose of salt.
Vera Drake: 9/10. Subtitles: ON. I don't know what it is about Mike Leigh's stuff, I can never understand wtf anyone is saying. I'm probably over rating this, the story is pretty straight forward, but he does old people really well. Imelda Staunton was a treat.
I have another blu ray question, probably more answerable than the previous one.
I live in the UK, I want to buy Hunger on blu ray, the US version is region locked, but the Canadian one I'm not so sure about:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HUNGER-DV...t=UK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL&hash=item2ec3e552ab
On there it says it is, but they tend to always do that on eBay listings. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks.Amazon.ca lists it as Region 1.
Logan's Run - 3/5 - love the imaginative premise and 70's futuristic setting. Michael York is good in the lead role, but the story starts to unravel badly in the final third. Still, a fun and campy science-fiction film I found perfectly suited to a lazy Sunday.
enjoyed this in the theater and enjoyed it on dvd
Add me to the Tin Tin hate list. Huge fan of the comics and cartoons back in the day, and they completely got the character of Tin Tin wrong as far as I'm concerned. It looked stunning, but I was annoyed and bored out of my mind watching it.
Because the script, characters, and even plot are terrible. It could have been much better, but it ended up being pretty awful in my opinion.Prometheus - 5 out of 5
Loved it! Why do people dislike this movie? May have to go check the official thread now that I've seen it. Beautiful film in terms of art. Makes up for the past few stinkers like Alien Resurrection, AVP, and AVP 2. Yeah, there were some stupid moments like Holloway taking his helmet off or the biologist casually fooling around with the Hammerpede, but those scenes didn't drag the film down. Good performances from Noomi and Fassbender. Also, Charlize Theron in here too? Oh yeahhhhhhhh Btw, theat the end of the film... HOLY FUCK. Thetrilobite and deaconhas to be the scariest alien in the Alien universe. It's like thetrilobitefacehugger x 1000000. So fucked up looking.
