NRA blames media, violent video games for violent culture

Perform what? The point I was bringing up was that if you keep guns in your house you are responsible for them. If your son takes a gun to school then you are held responsible. Keep them locked away from them, don't tell them the pin codes, don't give them keys to the locks unless you trust that they're a sane individual and you've raised them to use them.

.

The mother knew her son had issues. Why she thought it was a good idea to provide him access to firearms is beyond my comprehension. If I had even the SLIGHTEST inkling that someone in my household was mentally unstable, I sure as shit would not let them anywhere NEAR a firearm.

Why do you do w/e you do. Do you need to do it? Do you measure everything in your life on the practicality of it?

I'm all for tougher laws but you're silly if you think you could ever outright ban firearms.

Only if what I'm doing revolves around killing living things, which thankfully none of my decisions or hobbies do. And no I don't think we could ever completely ban firearms. I live in the heart of redneck central Florida and these people down here would die before they let someone take their guns, as stupid as that is. But we can do so much more than we are now which is pretty much nothing.

Are you a vegan?

Wont stop the killings, just having someone be responsible isn't enough.

Nothing will stop killings. Timothy McVeigh killed 160+ people including 19 kids and didn't use a single gun. Banning guns is not going to stop a mentally unstable person from doing things we can't explain.

The NRA are like some ridiculous cartoon villains. Their points are so unarguable, so bafflingly stupid that they can only have some from a childs caricature of what evil would be like. Yet, apparently they're real. Fuck.

I'm actually pro-hunting but the argument that wild life would overwhelm the environment if guns were banned is poor. There are other ways to control animal populations that don't require arming your average citizens.

Do people think this? Like, seriously? There's a natural pyramid structure to wildlife. You won't suddenly be unable to move for Deer. In the UK we banned Fox hunting a few years ago. I'm not suddenly having to wade through Foxes to get home. Who'd have though gun nut's would be thick, huh?

Keep blaming each other, instead of the real culprits (mental illness, bad parenting, lonely/depressing childhood all working with each other to produce anti-social tendencies).

Nothing is going to happen to video games when there is no legit study available on the correlation between games and killers.

I think that what you mentioned, combined with America's 'win at all costs' capitalist culture is partially to blame here. The losers of society are rejected, bullied, forgotten about then ignored. Of course some of them go nuts. There's a reason why this only happens regularly in America.

Wrong. Banning guns would only limit legal ownership. Lawbreakers would still get them. Have you ever read about what happened in the 1920s when they banned alcohol?

I think the poster you quoted is referring to specifically incidents involving schools and other times where guns were obtained legally and caused mayhem. Certainly a gun ban would not bar guns, but it would stop a certain type of shooting incident.

But it will stop them from using guns to do this.

I doubt that. By that logic, we should have nobody killing anyone now since killing people is illegal. It may make it harder to get, but not that much harder. We will just have a 'war on arms' to go along with out 'war on drugs'

Nope I eat meat. I just don't define my fun by walking around and slaughtering them myself when they're already being killed and provided for me.

You do understand how the meat you eat is treated?

I eat meat, I accept the fact that the meat I eat is most likely coming from animals that were kept in horrid conditions and probably tortured to some degree before getting sliced up for me.

Do hunters 'slaughter' meat? I really don't think so, you have a very crude notion of people that hunt on their own.

Do mass markets 'slaughter' meat? I think so.

It's all fine and dandy as long as you don't see it and you're not doing it though.

I wonder why other countries don't have a problem keeping guns from getting into their country and into criminals hands en masse. I mean drugs get into their countries same as America. I wonder why it is that guns aren't as easy to move into those countries as drugs?

What are your thoughts on that.

Not him, but my thoughts. Unless you're from the movie X-Men: The last stand, your guns are metal. It's a lot easier to detect metal than it is to detect items that can be turned into other materials/items and transported. Also guns get very heavy very quickly, so it's harder to transport them without actual support.

With all this Media attention I`m getting concerned that some "fringe" NRA supporter is going to set off a pipe bomb in a crowed area just to try and prove the point you can easily kill a large group of people without a gun.

okay so this is basically a gun thread, not a video games thread, so i'll defer to any of the many OT threads on the subject. thanks.

Where guns are banned good luck finding one... and if you find one you'll just have to pay a lot and you'll buy it from dangerous people so I don't see a lot of people doing this.

Also the 2nd amendement was here when there was a need to protect the country... I'm not sure guns are used for this purpose anymore. It's solely for personal protection... protect from who? From other us citizens who also have guns. You see the irony here.
