Tried using my debit and my brother's credit card with my US account via the internet but no dice, it keeps saying the card is not valid or such >_< Will try tomorrow via PS3...

does it have a Mastercard or VIsa log on the card? if so you can process it is a credit card transaction anytime anywhere. if not, you're out of luck trying to use it as credit.

here's my question. i have 2 free months of PS+. when my time is up will i be automatically charged? do i have to "opt out" anywhere?

thanks.

yeah, under ur account check services, then PS+. you turn off auto-renew there.

It's a VISA and I can use it for purchases from Steam and gog.com as well as iTunes however, I can't use it for purchases off Amazon.com for example. Gonna try by tomorrow and hope it works, really wanna get some of the games at their current Plus discount >_<.

Since downloads seem *really* slow, is there a way to have it download whilst the console is in standby mode ala Xbox? Going to need to have my PS3 on for weeks at this rate... really confusing because when I download games via Steam, iOS, Xbox etc it's usually pretty quick for similar file sizes

If something is downloading in the background when you switch off the console it usually asks if you want it to turn off after the downloads are completed.

When you turn it off with the 'Turn off' button on the left in the XMB. It doesn't work if you turn it off via the controller.

Turn the PS3 off via the XMB icon on the far left at the top of users, it will ask you if you want it to continue downloading and turn itself off itself automatically afterwards, it will also install most things downloaded at the same time and delete the file so it is all ready when you come back.

This doesn't work for patches and firmware however unless you have PS+ which lets you set a time to download updates, say during the night, and install them automatically for whatever games you have played on the system.

Just to make this clear, after the "snowy sales" there won't be any 'end year' offers at all, right?

It irks me how Steam and XBL have Walking Dead on discount but not PSN. :/

I could be incorrect but I recall others saying in the thread that sales would go for three weeks and each week they'd change them up. So I've been expecting to see a new list of sales on Monday. And this is assuming you're in the US. I don't know if things are different in other territories.

Yup, that's my understanding too.

Mexico, but we get the same US deals.

Think I'll just pick Odin Sphere since it seems like one of the most random and likely to not be repeated sale I have seen so far. :P Thanks for the insight.

I'm buying my brother PS+ for Christmas, but at the moment he only has a Vita (his 60GB PS3 broke). He might be getting another PS3, but not yet - he also says one of his housemates at uni has a PS3.

Can he sign in to his housemate's PS3 and access the PS3 PS+ content - download and play it without problems?

If yes, and he does that, will it affect him getting the PS+ content on his own PS3 when he gets a replacement? Does the content get tied to a console in any way, or can he download and play on two separate consoles without problems?

I'm in the UK, but don't see why it should make any difference. A debit card is a debit card no?

I've only ever used it through the ps3 though, so maybe that's the issue.

Are the PSN servers playing up at the moment? Just tried buying PS+ on my brother's Vita and through the web store, and both times "The server encountered an error" popped up after I tried to confirm the purchase.

He has some wallet funds that it's not debiting, so it's not completing the purchase for some reason.

I believe you can download all content from the store, PS+ or otherwise, on two different consoles - or "activated systems" as Sony calls them. It used to be 5, but they recently reduced it to 2. So yes, I think he will be fine.

Actually - I'm not sure about one thing. I don't know if a Vita counts as one "activated system". :S

Brilliant news about the downloads - thank you! Nice to have auto installs too, those things can be rather time consuming to say the least

Hoping NA PS+ gets some decent items for Xmas.

Do we any word yet on what might be offered?
No, I don't think they said anything yet. We'll know tomorrow though since they're updating the store on Monday's for the holidays.

Yesterday I signed up for the 60-day Music Unlimited premium free trial, just to see if it worked for me before signing up for the discounted $12 annual Plus membership. Problem is that now that I've decided I want the $12 membership, I can't find any place to purchase it. Any suggestions, or am I boned?

EDIT: thanks all

North America PSN? Launch the store and scroll down to the app section. There's a huge MU $12 promo banner.

Use your PS3 to purchase it on PSN. I was in the same boat as you. It's under Plus content, applications or something.

I don't have a PS3, and apparently the vita PSN store won't let me do this because there's no music unlimited banner.

Shouldn't need a banner. I just checked on my Vita and it's in the store. Under the Games heading scroll down the options on the left side to apps. It was around 10-15 apps down for me. Listed at $12 still.

Yay! You're my hero of the day. I'm in.

EDIT: and it stacked with the 60 day trial I signed up for yesterday, so now I have it for 14 months for $12. Sweet!

Will find out on Monday. I would keep the expectations extremely low IE little deviants. I am not expecting much again this week. Maybe get lucky and get some good games on sale with the discount for the week. The sale last week was solid got 2 vita games for almost half off.

OK this is getting ridiculous I've used my card and my brother's card but I end up with this stinking message:
Please enter a valid credit card number
I enter the 12 digits no hyphens nor any spaces why does it keep rejecting it?

ok. still cant locate this. should i be looking on playstation.com, Sony entertainment network, or on the system itself?

its probably right in front of my face here somewhere.
On the PS3 it's under the PSN column in the XMB -> Sign In -> Account Management ->Transaction Management -> Services List -> PS+ -> Turn off auto renewal

On the SEN website it's under the Media List. You have to dig through it and find your PS+ trial. Once you've located it you click on it, then select the trial, then you can cancel auto renewal.

Account Management > Services List > Playstation Plus on your PS3 itself.

shit. there is no "Services List" entry on my PS3 under account management. maybe its because i sent back the defective PS3 that i first signed up for the PS+ account on?

i have an extra PS+ code. maybe if i input it into the new system i can access the Services List?

edit: transactions, there it is. figured i was blind.

thanks much Killthee. got it now.

only had a few days left before renewal. close one!

The card has a US billing address right? Usually you need a card that matches the region for it to work (US PSN requires US billing address, EU requires EU billing address, JP requires JP address, etc....). Once in a while certain cards will go through no matter what, for example EU PS+ trials don't check the address letting some US cards work.

Wow, I haven't been to the PSN store on PS3 in a while. This redesign is fucking awful.

And no sale on Walking Dead either. :/

In addition, PlayStation Plus delivers an extra special deal this week – we’re offering members Retro City Rampage for absolutely nothing.

Sounds like RCR is just an extra "bonus" game, from the way it's worded.

Week two looks pretty decent as I'm looking at getting Retro City Rampage (of course), Hot Shots, and probably Papo & Yo. I'm really hoping to see a sale on Unfinished Swan and Tokyo Jungle so fingers crossed for next week!

Eh called ti quits and bought a 3 month Plus subscription, decided NOT to get RE4, and wait and see if EU PSN will have it on sale with a Plus discount.

Hope it's OK to post this but that 1 month code I have expires on March, and I'm willing to trade for it if anyone's interested in it.

Gonna buy a 360 day EU Plus sub by next week~
