next titan is a decent one. the demon within has one of the better endings to an episode- really good use of the music there at the end, but i don't think it needed the little comedy bit afterward.
i thought the on-screen impalement was a shock when it first saw it, but thought it was okay because it was an alien creature. but there's one more surprise in terms of violence coming up.

This might be the worst thing with the Tenchi name on it. As in this shit is getting worse then Tenchi in Tokyo.

I looked it up on Wikipedia since it's been so long since I watched the series. As far as I can tell next week is the first episode of the Land of Waves arc.
Team 7 is assigned to escort Tazuna to the Land of Waves but they're attacked along the way.
There will be an actual plot starting in the next week or two. If I recall correctly the series picks up and gets better when that happens.

Yes. I wished it was showing for an hour in Bleach's place instead of having reruns, but I guess it had to prove itself in the ratings. If Fullmetal or Tenchi was to drop I would hope they could give Naruto an hour.

Do you know who owns the rights to One Piece?
Funimation holds the right to dub it, but as far as broadcasting, I'm not sure if anyone has the rights now.
The awful 4Kids dub aired on Cartoon Network before.
I remember reading that Funi is almost begging someone to put One Piece on the air.

So did a modified version of Funimation's dub (for about 30 or so episodes, closer to 50 in Australia). They did a TV dub that continued some of the name edits (4Kids had already established a number of edited terms for Skypiea through the One Piece games and Funi was, for some reason, forced to preserve those) and preserved some of the less banal edits that 4Kids put in place while still otherwise trying to play things straight, using the original soundtrack and most of the original script, unlike the 4Kids version.
Aside from those last 20 or so episodes that appeared on CN Australia, the real uncut dub has never aired before to my knowledge.

GXP is no worse than OVA 3.

That was the only thing that bothered me. Well, that and calling Zoro, Zolo. The voice acting wasn't bad in my opinion.
You missed....a lot.
It wouldn't be bad if they changed the script to accommodate some of the changes but they were so in your face about it. Not to mention the lengths they went to to make sure kids didn't see ANYTHING Japanese. I never saw the 4kids crocodile arc but man I imagine they butchered it.

Eh, I might be looking back on the 4kids dub through rose colored lenses. Nostalgia will do that to you.
Forget anything Japanese. 4Kids edited out almost every instance of ENGLISH writing that appeared on screen in the series.
I'm dead serious.
Among the other things that 4Kids edited out included almost anything related to both present and future Usopp character development, a future Straw Hat's entire raison d'être, and pretty much the entire characterization for several characters that would reappear again later on and be important to the series. And that's not even counting the stupid stuff like butchering the plots of the arcs they DID show or the fact that they turned all rifles into Super Soakers.

Ok, my perception has definitely been skewed by nostalgia
Actually, the voice acting was insanely bad.
Usopp sounded like a clown going through constant puberty, Luffy was always screaming, Vivi sounded bored out of her mind (and everyone said her name wrong), all the Fishmen had this bizarre echo effect to their voices, Chopper was given a man's voice in Heavy Point, Mr. 2 Bon Clay sounded like Little Richard...
That's not getting into the accents. Robin became Southern because she wore a cowboy hat, Mihawk was French because mustache, and Sanji............... AAAAAARGH.
People also forget the dialogue was loaded with terrible puns. Example: Luffy vs. Crocodile Fight #1, Crocodile creates a giant pit of quicksand, causing Luffy to sink. He screams it's like a "giant toilet" and Crocodile retorts "Looks like you're desert doo-doo!" Then there was Mr. 3, who's entire character was telling jokes. No, that is not what he's like in the original.
There was no chance for silence, 4Kids followed the idiotic belief that sound must always be playing or else kids will get bored.
Then there's the fact they skipped two canon arcs. No reason was ever given, though most people believe it was to get to Chopper faster in the hopes of increasing merch sales.
Basically, the 4Kids dub was a fucking atrocity, and it severely hurt 4Kids and their relationship with Toei. Anyone that says it's "good" is a stupid little kid with tight nostalgia goggles.
End rant.
EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot about how they fucked over Usopp's character. Any scenes where he developed were cut out, because fuck giving the comic relief a chance.
Are you serious?? I remember watching a few episodes back in the day when I was giving it a go. I could ever get into the manga. It was just too busy and I guess it's not my favorite art-style ever. Anyway, I had no references. I had no idea about that sort of editing. Why even bother dubbing if you're gonna have to go through that much trouble for God knows what reason? I'm a bit stunned.

According to former employees, One Piece was part of a package deal. Toei wanted to get their latest cash cow to North American shores, and hearing about 4Kids success with Yu-Gi-Oh, they packaged it with Shaman King. 4Kids didn't see a second of footage before agreeing to the deal. Once the master tapes started rolling in, they realized they were in trouble.
They went overboard with the editing, though I have no clue why the rap theme was necessary.
They've eventually admitted that "One Piece was a mistake". It should have gone to Funimation in the first place.
When the manga started out, it was Zoro. Then the dub came along and forced the change.
Despite Funimation using Zoro, the English manga still spells it "Zolo" because "consistency". It's idiotic.
At least the One Piece editor at Viz promised a special edition with all the correct terminology and spellings in place ("Zolo" wasn't the only problem). When that will happen though ... no idea. Either when One Piece sells like crazy or the series ends.
