We also tend to be very family and community oriented so I don't think this current Ayn Rand kick the Republicans seem to be on would appeal that much to us. It ties into their whole narrative, but as we have learned, their narrative is baloney. The core Dem base before the collapse in the 1970's was blue-collar labor.

The fact that they still believe it is why they can't make any inroads to Hispanics or Asians, they think they don't have to work to attract support from "hard-working" people.

Also needs to be said too. I had a good friend from high school who lived in Hawaii. When everyone would tell him how great it it must have been to live there, he'd always bring this up. The cost of living is ridiculous and the indigenous peoples have been getting the shitty end of the pay scale forever.
