Hideki Kamiya shits all over Kotaku

Yeah... Kotaku shouldn't make claims in there story without either identifying them as unsubstantiated or providing strong quantitative analysis. Typically they do not operate like this. They like to formulate the conclusion they think will generate the most traffic and then proceed to craft a story around that by any means necessary. People will get agree.

...also, comments that makes a person sound like a nationalist aren't to far off from comments that makes someone sound like a racist. In recent news, he may as well be cut from the same cloth as Alex Jones with messed up comments like that. It's low class but I'm not surprised that people don't care. I understood the sickness of "fans" when people allowed their idols to spit and even pee on them.

This whole thing from beginning to end is like watching a snuff film in slow motion: dragging out the repulsive agony of it all for no good reason. In many ways, it's worse than Doritogate, because blatant and needless slander can't even PRETEND to masquerade as above-the-board behavior.

aaaaaaaaaaaaand that's it folks. the smh factor is reaching wii-u thread levels.

sorry but have you seen the inside of a gamedev studio? most aren't exactly filled to the brim with hyper-mature adults. and you don't even take in account the position, or worth of the employee.

if they all followed your policy, employee turnaround would be insane.

Yes, in college interned for a company called SAS, who at the time owned a group that was making interactive games. Yep, not the most mature people, but fun nonetheless. Wouldn't have changed things if they did what Kamiya did. You're a rep of the company regardless. Shrug.

I don't know, it just sounds like you think extremely miserable employers/work environments are ideal, and stack ranking would just be ideal for that model.

The fact that you think expecting your employees to be respectful human beings when they're representing a company makes them miserable is weird. And stack ranking has nothing to do with that way of thinking at all. Where are you pulling that out of?

Let's not get crazy here.

This is from the other thread. Posting it for those who may have missed it. Apparently Marcus Beer is so upset, he refuses to cover software Kamiya has developed going forward.

He lost Annoyed Gamer's coverage? Damn, good luck selling your games from now on, Platinum.

I like how Kamiya isn't following anyone on twitter.

I don't follow

what we have here is a difference between ideals and reality.

good luck firing the project director (or anyone actually useful) because you got upset at them saying common bad words.

if anything, they would keep them till the project is done, then fire you both. maturity goes both ways (even more so towards the offended person to brush off the nonsense and get the project done).

and my experience is current and over a decade, if that matters.

Who the hell is Marcus Beer? Anyone? *crickets*

I just decided that I'm going to go pick up Anarchy Reigns, just on principle. Looks pretty awesome, and it's only $30. You know what to do people. See you online.

How long until someone from Kotaku posts here trying to defend their website's integrity? Thank you, OP, for not linking to the article. That piece of shit website needs to die a slow, painful death.

I think Marcus Beer said once that Bayonetta was a piece of shit and the only reason people like it was because their childhood nostalgia for Japanese games. So yeah, maybe when Ubisoft publishes a PG game.

I fail to see any Xenophobia here,
All I'm seeing here is Western Gaming Journalism at its finest VS. a Twitterholic Japanese game developer,

Brought to you by:
GAF "Believe"
Nintendo "We're Publishing!"
The Western Gaming Journalism Cult "Join the one true Religion"

Not sure about their level of fluency, but they can all speak Japanese.

OK. I generally wouldn't say "can speak x language" if the person isn't fluent.

Again, I'm not sure, but their pronunciation of Japanese words was very "off" which gave me that impression.

add to that

-people thinking you made Devil May Cry 2
-Wondering what the fuck is this midget power ranger on a gamecube
-copying wind waker and the wolf from twilight princess
-b(w)itch dante
-breaking b(w)itch dante disks because b(w)itch dante 2 (which was cancelled) is coming out exclusively to Nintendo

yeah, that's why i admire kamiya and can understand why he would lose his shit because of that article.

people who are offended by his statements should definitely look at who started it in the first place. its not about gaf's obsession with kamiya that's making him the hero of this story. it's about who is writing a bunch of hateful texts about a person just because he doesn't release his games on pc.

Lol, whatever you say....

Yeah. The reality is that Kamiya comments were bad for his company and his colleagues.

except his comments aren't new to anyone thats followed him, so going by your logic the damage should have already been done. (theres actually another GAF Kamiya twitter topic even).

and done and done and done and done by now over and over.

I think people will still buy Bayo 2 given its name and exclusive platform. I seriously doubt soccer moms that buy W-101 will be checking Kamiyas twitter before purchasing it for their children.

No one will not buy Metal Gear Rising because Kamiya told trolls and racists to fuck off.

It would be great if all the "offended" people looked at some of the crap being tossed in his direction (racist and death threats especially, which happened before Kotaku). But nah lets just focus on one side.

And people wonder why this industry doesn't get the respect that other industries receive.

Yeah because we don't have both trash media (ok not nearly exclusively maybe like with games) and half crazy and quite often childish authors, musicians and movie directors that are still appreciated very much for what they create.

Its already done

But probably publishers and studios. And colleagues. And, know even more, the press.

Yeah. The reality is that Kamiya comments were bad for his company and his colleagues.

why would that be bad? will it affect his tendency to make games now? developers can do what they want and say what they want if their games is competent enough to be enjoyed by gamers.

dennis dyack on the other hand...

Kamiya really needs to dial it in. Justified anger or not, this is the sort of thing that scares off business partners and hurts relations between Japanese companies and Anglosphere ones, even beyond just Platinum and anyone else.

I'm already afraid this will see years of work on my own part, in trying to get Steam and various Japanese entities to work together, torched, if it gets out further in the Japanese-language info-sphere. It's already hit 2channel, IIRC.

Of course, I'm also mad as hell at Kotaku for running an article with such a goddamned stupid headline.

time will tell

is Bayonetta gonna sell less units because of what Kamiya said or because it's exclusively on the wii-U

oh wait it's gonna sell regardless because it was freaking cancelled.

seriously though I understand what your saying but you can't tell that sort of thing until action is taken. How long has he had his twitter account and how much longer will he have it. There is damage being done, but not on the scale(as of yet) that could hurt the company.

Maybe if someone bigger and more reliable than Kotaku ran the story

I imagined any other dev saying "Do you eat shit?" and I giggled.

Also, that jaffe interview someone inked was great. Would love to know more about that article

But the thing is that... Arthur was also a Douchebag, calling her douchebag doesn't resolve anything and he is just repeating the cycle

But at least she gets reprimanded.

I've never seen that episode of Arthur

iirc it was a girl who keeps on annoying Arthur to the point that something from him gets broken, so Arthur gets back to her, but the whole world shits on Arthur.

Your position is undercut once you assumed that the scope of his influence was just people that know he acts like a dick all the time. The minute it became a story, non-followers saw it. Your last point is also meaningless since no one is praising Kotaku or letting them slide for their "story".

Inaba has already said in an interview that Platinum is interested in developing for the PC, and Steam in particular. So, I don't really see how Kamiya's trolling on twitter would damage any of that. Most people probably know not to take him seriously on there. Or else they'd be really disappointed with all of his "next week in a magazine" tweets.

Like I said, we will see...

But it seems this issue is not going to end soon.

And the band played on...
