Hideki Kamiya shits all over Kotaku

How would you feel if people asked you to port Bayonetta to PC? And I mean like, you as you are now. Even if you have nothing to do with it and can't really make the decision to put it in PC.

I'd probably feel proud that more people want to play my game and feel bad that PS3 gamers had to play a sub-par version of it.

Ah, that's what you meant with "as you are now". That's a pretty pointless question.
It's a pointless question to Kamiya too, because there's nothing he can do about it. Inaba is the businessman and he's already looking into Steam and PC and has even visited Valve.

I gotta side with Itagaki a bit in their little exchange. Anyone who says that the action genre didn't change after Ninja Gaiden: Black came out really must have been asleep. It got near perfect scores everywhere.

I loved Okami though, so he was off on that one.

Kamiya is a bro and all, but Ninja Gaiden is the best action game ever made.

  • Kotaku posts a sensationalist article.
  • Kamiya responds like a 14 year old

Pretty pathetic all-round state of affairs
Responding sensibly to an idiot is a waste of text. They would just twist it again. I still say Kamiya's response was the best to get his point across to his intended audience.

I'm all for calling out kotaku on their bullshit, but bakka gaijin is a bit too much for my taste.

Given that's what every Japanese Marvel comic book character says every other text balloon, I think he's just playing up the stereotypes/preconceptions of Japan that the initial article was built upon.

Much like how he was pissed for being presented as the voice of all Japan.

"Nothing" is quite an exaggeration, he made the game and isn't a no-name grunt at Platinum. There's no way he couldn't tell Inaba that people on Twitter are clamoring for Bayonetta on PC but he probably just doesn't care. Which is fine, of course.

Really pathetic of Kotaku. Can't wait to see more of and play The Wonderful 101. I think all this bullshit Kamiya has had to go through is only motivating him just that much more on the project.

somebody get PJ in here

i would like to request a shirt on the online Platinum store that says "Do you eat shit?"

Given Platinum has zero control over Bayonetta and it would be up to Sega and not Inaba then yes, it is pointless because Sega execs aren't going to care about people on Kamiya's twitter.

My favourite response of his in the barrage of tweets he's been receiving...

Endless クソ馬鹿ガイジン
Google translate that last part: "Fucking idiot gaijin".

Dude's pissed off and is acting kind of racist at the moment.

Well, he's a creative guy, and the business guy is already working on it. Not much he can do.

And it's not like people are clamoring for it. It's just the Kotaku crowd going "argh blargh pc is REALLY IMPORTANT!!!!!!"

Nothing isn't an exaggeration. Even Inaba doesn't have much influence on the situation. It's all up to the publisher. If you want a PC port, petition the publisher. That's how Dark Souls came to PC. Even though From was open to the idea, it absolutely wasn't going to happen until Namco said yes.

It's so gaijin of you to say that.

That wasn't in your original post though.

Anyway, I love Kamiya and his games but his twitter ramblings, while funny, come off as unprofessional and unreasonable. He's a very friendly chap when you tweet him with something that interests him but he tends to lose his cool quite frequently. It's disheartening to see a person you respect behave in such a childish manner.

They're friends, friends who make very similar styles of game. They rail on each other in interviews because they're friends, not because they genuinly dislike one another.

Also Kamiya gets far too much stupid repetitive shit on his feed from English-speakers, way too much. He's neither a saint or a PR PC yes-man who can respond calmly to the same misguided questions everyday over and over again for years on end, that's why some people love him, and consequently why those who only see the breaking-point outbursts like this don't.

The master of all trolls is right in the middle with the kings of trash talking.

Its news to me that Kamiya and Itagaki were just screwing around, I recall seeing their spat a few years ago and assumed it was real.

Nice to know its not real then.

I love it how Kotaku acting all dignified now on that newly edited article of theirs, heh.

Phase 1: Write bullshit article for hits
Phase 2: Watch hit count rise due to sensationalistic headline
Phase 3: Get called out on said bullshit
Phase 4: Play the victim card
Phase 5: Start all over again

How else would he ask someone if he eats shit without writing in a language comprehensible by the other party?

I won't lie though, that came way out of left field I lol'd
Tell them in Japanese and then mock them in Japanese for not being able to understand?

I didn't even know of such a spat, but knowing recent remarks by Itagaki in regards to Tekken and its creator it's not surprising, he seems to like to play up the "my rival in this genre is terrible and makes terrible games!" when he's actually a lot more friendlier with the guy than you'd expect, if anything it sounds like he sees eye to eye with him more than those at Team Ninja still.

I heard that they got in an actual fight shortly after though

Pretty lame performance from both sides.

Still, Kamiya wins to me, the guy is just so fucking raw. Plus he actually makes great games, can't dislike.

Kamiya's in the right, even with that "foreigners" statement because it's the "foreigner" that are constantly harassing him about Steam. Yes, Steam's great. No, Kamiya's not interested so STFU. Kamiya is respectable for speaking his mind.

I'd be pissed too if people constantly harassed me about my thoughts on ideal worm farming and then defamed me on wormfarming.com based on a single amicable decline.

Kamiya almost a year ago.

Wow, hahaha.

I can understand him being pissed off though due to people cherrypicking his tweets to be posted as "news" without his approval/permission. Goddamn that is such an embarrassing / shameless method of "journalism." I mean, that's just sleazy. Which is why I laughed when that Kotaku guy that got Eat-Shitted by Kamiya said "it's a good report."

Just don't forget that they are the victims here.

It's bloody annoying that they act all high and dignified right now. On the edited apology they still apparently trying to throw a diss or two towards Kamiya, damn.

That is a strangely specific example.
