Such a xenophobic child
Its a mixture of finding him funny and the fact that I like watching assholes get called assholes. Its something that I think people should do more, because I think there isnt enough accountability for how people act these days, and I think that a huge reason people continue to be assholes is because they dont get called out for what they do or say.
If people were walking up to me all day telling me how I should do my job and making articles that misrepresent what I say
I'd want to call them out on being assholes. Im glad he has the balls to call out people who deserve it. Its not like hes walking around asking random people if they eat shit, he said it as a rebuttal to an asshole who did something that was insulting and rude.
That was pretty good.
I swear JP is behind this isn't he
Who would win at dinner table insults?

The only thing that's amusing to me is how pathetic it is that people are fawning over this guy for his shitty 3rd grade level insults and comebacks, all because he made their favorite game.
I find his tweets great and I've never played a game of his outside of MadWorld (and that wasn't even my favorite game, not even close at all).

MadWorld isn't even one of his.
He has expressed his beliefs in a more direct fashion. https://twitter.com/PG_JP
Yeah, I decided to actually look over some of that article, and they also ignore the angle that there's an assurance in owning something physically, that it can't just be taken from you by some arbitrary actions of another. Yeah it can still be broken, but most likely that falls on you mishandling versus unknowingly running afoul of rules, or not even running afoul and just getting shit luck, nevermind that some places DON'T respect the notion of letting you keep something you bought even if it's pulled from purchase (NWN2 on D2D/GameFly), fortunately it seems to only be a problem with second rate DD services, but if any decide to follow that AND somehow get big we have a very real problem. Not to mention Nintendo's mentality is bad enough.Steam cloud services can be sort of unstable for some games. Kotaku confirmed for knowing less about Steam and PC gaming than Japanese game developers.
I'll just leave this here, sums up my thoughts nicely:
"The truth is that if a word is racial and it offends people, it’s a slur. The person who says the word doesn’t get to decide whether it’s offensive or not; it’s the group to which they refer. Otherwise, you could justify using any racial slur whatsoever by just saying you didn’t mean it that way. Any smart redneck closet racist will tell you that he doesn’t mean ‘n****r’ in a bad way; it’s just what he calls black people, so why get so upset? (I’m not comparing ‘n***er’ to ‘gaijin’; it’s just meant as an analogy).
Not as a game designer, his personality.
I'll never understand peoples love for this asshole.
Wasn't it about this time last year that Jaffe went off on Kotaku for writing a bull shut article about him solely based on an out of context quote? lol

Man Jaffe must be laughing his ass off at the tweet too.
Bingo! He's only an asshole to assholes.
You mean like this?
He's only an asshole to assholes.
So what was that 'idiot foreigners' comment then?

He's obviously being a bit of goof on Twitter.
I wonder if he's like that in real life?

The truth?

But the Kotaku article doesn't say that. Actually, your post--and every post slamming Kotaku--appears not to have read anything other than the headline (which, yes, is bad). Seriously, how many people here actually read the fucking article?
The article itself says "Western readers might find it weird that Kamiya says he doesn't know much about PC gaming. Thing is, PC gaming isn't really a big deal in Japan. Most big PC titles aren't released there, Valve/publishers treat Japan poorly (can't get most PC games in Japanese, etc. Kamiya also expresses distrust in the cloud. This makes sense--Japanese culture tends to prefer physical media to digital media. The end."
There's literally nothing wrong with the article beyond its headline. It ends without making a judgement either way, basically saying "he's typical of many people in Japan. It is what it is." I'm fairly certain that Eisenbeis, iirc, has lived in Japan for quite some time.
If anything, the only people it makes look bad are people who won't even release their games in Japan in Japanese.
The piece is actually pretty informative, and anyone making PC games who wants their stuff to show up in Japan should, after reading the piece, have a greater idea of how to better appeal to the market. As someone who's always wondered why PC gaming never really took off in Japan, this was an interesting introduction to the subject.
Also, Kotaku didn't set this off. Kamiya was being a dick about PC gaming last night, judging by some retweets that popped up in my feed. Kotaku, if anything, cherrypicked the most innocent tweets.
So what was that 'idiot foreigners' comment then?
No one however disputed the translation. We have some Japanese speaking people on this board. They haven't provided any correction either. I don't why you are assuming he was being positive when everything points to the opposite. Kamiya himself even confirms the sentence, but you will probably spin it like he doesn't understand. He hid a clear insult in Japanese and you want to somehow spin the usage of gaijin as something positive in an insult? Really?
In the translation "some" wasn't forgotten it was said in English and didn't need a translation.
He's obviously being a bit of goof on Twitter.
I wonder if he's like that in real life?
BTW what does the "RT" mean?
