I'd want to call them out on being assholes. Im glad he has the balls to call out people who deserve it. Its not like hes walking around asking random people if they eat shit, he said it as a rebuttal to an asshole who did something that was insulting and rude.

I find his tweets great and I've never played a game of his. outside of MadWorld (and that wasn't even my favorite game, not even close at all).

Yeah, I decided to actually look over some of that article, and they also ignore the angle that there's an assurance in owning something physically, that it can't just be taken from you by some arbitrary actions of another. Yeah it can still be broken, but most likely that falls on you mishandling versus unknowingly running afoul of rules, or not even running afoul and just getting shit luck, nevermind that some places DON'T respect the notion of letting you keep something you bought even if it's pulled from purchase (NWN2 on D2D/GameFly), fortunately it seems to only be a problem with second rate DD services, but if any decide to follow that AND somehow get big we have a very real problem. Not to mention Nintendo's mentality is bad enough.
 
Wasn't it about this time last year that Jaffe went off on Kotaku for writing a bull shut article about him solely based on an out of context quote? lol

I wholeheartedly disagree with this. What is seen as offensive or not varies from person to person. While I agree that people have the right to be offended by whatever they wish, saying that "only people belonging to a certain group can choose what and what not to be offended by" is a load of crap. Not every ethnicity is a hivemind, not every person belonging to a certain ethnicity sees things the exact same way. This extends to the "nigger" analogy as well. (although comparing a foreigner to an ethnicity is completely different, it is racism vs xenophobia as pointed out multiple times) If someone uses the word "nigger" casually, some may find it offensive, some may not. Personally, I feel that intent is more important than the word being used so I won't always particularly find it offensive. Other black people may find it offensive, and they are free to. But that gives them NO right to say whether I should be offended or not, regardless of my skin color. That is an awful way of thinking (I find it extremely disrespectful, I am not a child and I can decide for myself what and what not to be offended by) and just promotes segregation more. That extends to gender-related slurs as well. Its just a cheap form of attempting to invalidate a viewpoint that may not agree with their own. "Oh you wouldn't know you aren't Black/Female/Japanese/etc so keep your mouth shut"

So to repeat it again, NOBODY gets to decide what is offensive for other people, whether they are part of the "targeted" group or not. They can only decide whether it is offensive for themselves.

There's literally nothing wrong with the article beyond its headline. It ends without making a judgement either way, basically saying "he's typical of many people in Japan. It is what it is." I'm fairly certain that Eisenbeis, iirc, has lived in Japan for quite some time.

If anything, the only people it makes look bad are people who won't even release their games in Japan in Japanese.

The piece is actually pretty informative, and anyone making PC games who wants their stuff to show up in Japan should, after reading the piece, have a greater idea of how to better appeal to the market. As someone who's always wondered why PC gaming never really took off in Japan, this was an interesting introduction to the subject.

Also, Kotaku didn't set this off. Kamiya was being a dick about PC gaming last night, judging by some retweets that popped up in my feed. Kotaku, if anything, cherrypicked the most innocent tweets.

I'm not saying it was something positive, I'm saying there was no implication of a generalization hence the whole racism thing is ridiculous. Of course he'd insult idiots. For being idiots who happen to be foreigners. Not for being foreigners.
There's no need for a correction. This isn't about something being wrong, it's about something which can be misunderstood, and I don't actually expect it to be any other way.

"Some" didn't need to be translated. That guy made sure to leave it out to make things sound worse though.
