If they did add a new type I'd hope it'd be something to make Bug types way more useful. They're my fave next to ghost.

Bug type is generally useful though. Fire isn't much of a trouble and bug is a good counter to the powerful types and defensively resistant to the common offense types (ground and fighting).

Im actually pretty okay with this. But I would definitely go grass in this situation

And my record is:

Squirtle
Totodile
Treecko
Piplup
Tepig (hard choice, didn't really care to much for any honestly, Might go Osha in B/W2)

Im really a water guy and surprisingly no mudkipz

I might go grass in this case too...

Best shit ever, Im Froakie all the way in this situation

Ehhhh Im not feeling the water version of Emboar....

I think the biggest reason new types are unlikely is that the new gen 2 types were mostly added cause psychic was way out of balance, correct?

I think a new type is also mostly useful when it actually genuinly opens up new design possibilities for pokemon that essentially weren't viable before. I don't think there's many types that could really fit that spot.

"light" is a bit too nondescriptive and lingers somewhere between normal and psychic at best. Sound is already largely represented (we have quite a number of sound-based and themed pokemon actually.)

I'm having a hard time thinking ofany sort of new type that'd really make sense in this light.

...could.
Probably change Trubbish/Garbador...right?
or am I misunderstanding how these Pokemon became Pokemon?

New ability: Fallout.

Like sandstorm but more glowy.

Doesn't affect steel or ghost.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the return of the shadow type though. Also Orre. I wan't to go back to Orre.

All I want is another game in the same vein.

Maybe a life type instead of light :C but chansey, blissey, etc would have to be "retyped".

That could work aswell...Every Pokemon would have to be retyped at this rate.

Neither should affect Rock or Ground, Radiocativity Heat would instantly destroy steel though, but only in case of a bomb(fission, fusion) or something.

Glass!

Weak against Rock and Fire, strong against Bug, Ice and Water.

...though now that you lot mention it, having a type that validates the existence of Bug and Poison types would be pretty nice, yeah.

Problem is a lot of new types can be conveyed with current type combinations, or things like Fossil really don't convey anything unique until give a type.

Light works, but it would feel forced. Anything else would fit pokemon that have already been typecasted into certain categories.

Anything I can think of ends up being better conveyed by two types, then adding unique ability or signature move.

Bug would be super effective against Radioactive (;

Ya, Radioactive is the only type I can think of that could be neatly fit into existing strengths/weaknesses

There are too many types as it is. Did ground and rock really need to be separate? They should have been called Earth type.

They don't need to add types. They can just change the type chart to balance things. Poison should be super effective against water. Steel should be renamed metal so Electric is super effective against it. Dragon should definitely get another weakness, maye Psychic because that type was over nerfed. Fire should maybe resist Dragon for balance. Ice should definitely resist Flying.

If I had the chart in front of me I could have done it more seriously. The type chart desperately needs balancing. Dragons are overpowered, when they were created only Dragobite existed, now there are tons of them.

Glass would be super-effective on flying too, for the bird that smashed its head into my window this morning.

Maybe a Virtual type(like ghost but scientific)weak to bug/fighting/water/fire/ground/rock resistant to ice/psychic, immune to poison and ghost, effective against dark/flying/electric

or Ancient(mythology type which would be created to counter to counter Dragon type)
weak to Fire/Ice/Ground/Rock Resistant to Psychic/Dark/Ghost/Dragon Effective against Dragon/Poison/Grass/Fighting

Glass is sand heated technically so it would be considered ground.

Some types need balancing, like Dark (needs more weakness), Bug (needs to be SE towards Ground and Fighting instead of just defensively NVE) and Poison (needs to be buffed).

However it's generally balanced. Dragon only resists the "starter" types, is resisted by Steel, and can easily be taken down by an Ice attack (Ice Beam kills Dragonites, Salamences, and Garchomps).

Ground and Rock are different enough to be distinguished. Ground is essentially the earth, whereas Rock are rocks that can be sling or moved. Ground is a good offensive type that affects many popular types whereas Rock is a more specialized type. Notice how a Bug would burrow/crush the ground but be easily squashed by a rock?

This has always confused the hell out of me. I still don't know what their weaknesses/strengths are.
Me neither, and I have sunk hundreds and hundreds of hours into the DS games.

Playing too much Pokemon made me somehow feel attuned to them :P

It's the dual type that causes confusion.

Eh, nah on the steel < electric thing.

And nerf Fighting type, why don't you (getting rid of rock). Don't know how Earth would play out against flying - Ground can't touch it, rock is super-effective...

Grass should have been split into Grass and Fungi

and Hemp

I think the classification Grass in the world of pkmn is a man made classification in which they groups together pkmns which has common weakness and resistance :C that's why we see in the bugs type things like arachnid, crustaceans, etc as well with grass there are algae and fungi which are not plants :C.

Oh right.

Poison isn't SE against Water because water washes away pollutants. It is the ultimate cleanser. If anything Poison should be SE against Water :P

Steel only conducts electricity but not necessarily be totally electrified by it.

Psychic already damages Fighting. But it needs more SE. Dragon doesn't make sense. And why would Fire resist Dragon?

Flying is already in trouble as it is so it doesn't need any more types that resist it. It's already weak to Ice.

Fighting is SE to any "hardness" types (Rock/Ice/Steel) because... hey, fighting. Ground doesn't work on Flying because it's grounded, but Rock does because it can be sling. You can't sling soil but you can with rocks.

What about a Wood type?

DUH DUH DUUUUUHHH.

Grass :P
