DmC Review Thread (Release Date - 1/15/13) Embargo is over!

Some of the IGN staff was talking about this game and it's upcoming review in the comments section and they seem to dig it. Should get a strong score from them. Maybe it'll be up Monday?

If the reviews are good across the board would anyone who's a fan of the past games be willing to look past the changes and actually play this ? I havn't played the past games so I can't comment but I think Ninja Theory might be able to pull this off

There are plenty of fans who are going to play it regardless because it's called DMC. Some people won't because they know what the game has to offer and aren't impressed.

Played it and fan of the old ones. Yeah I dig it. Different but still fun times.

A lot of the old fans are going to play it. Begrudgingly, or otherwise.

I don't think I can bring myself to do it. At least not until it's dirt cheap on PC. Reviews don't mean shit to me these days, especially for a game like this.

Fans of the past games never asked for a reboot and never wanted one. Most of us aren't feeling the new universe at all, and it's obvious that the combat isn't up to par.

Haven't played it but as a DMC fan Ive seen the whole game on youtube. The demo convinced me the gameplay is not up to snuff, above average but that only works for a new IP so for me above average on a DMC is not worth my time. I think for the 5 year wait since DMC4 this game really doesn't do it for me. Story wise I feel it's a step back for NT. So what we have is a game where Capcom's fighting know-how is not fully shown and NT's cinematic knowledge is lacking. A game that as far as I am concerned not worth full price.

It's not pushing DMC or genre forward in meaningful ways like I expect from every DMC game. It's just DMC Lite and if that's good enough for critics then so be it.

Journalists have an ability where they can tell the game is crap without actually spending time on it

As I wait for my DmC review to go live, I was browsing this thread, and I've got to ask: Where the hell is this from?

I'm a long time fan who's excited to play this on Tuesday but some of you have to understand that reviews by the gaming press are largely meaningless to this fanbase.

I've played and seen enough of DmC to know it's not for me. I'm just gonna wait for Bayo 2.

I am right here. I enjoyed playing the game but I still can't get behind this direction for the series over the OG series. Unless they change up a lot of things for DmC2.

I'd be ok with DmC2 if they have 2 campaigns(Vergil and Dante). Because under the OG DMC the only way we could get another Vergil campaign is if it was another prequel (or they resurrected Vergil).

Don't forget we waited 4-5 years for this.

Four, almost five long years.

The game plays and looks somewhat decent but I feel they could've done so much more in that time span. Still hate Dante's design but I might be able to get over that.

After doing the lord's work putting together DMC4 Dante, he had to get thrown into a wack ass half game. Ignoring that that's the standard we could have been at at this point is kind of tough.

Still looking forward to this. Hope Bloody Palace doesn't take to long and they don't dick around with the PC patch.

Also, the gauntlets are ugly as fuck

More like not even in 6 hours...

Game completion time? If so...damn.

And I kind of agree with what you said earlier about preferring the OG series over this as far as like the direction is going. I feel like they could've done a game like this without the DMC name and stuff. Could've kept the parallel world stuff and all that. Just had different characters and names.

I want to see what kind of adventures Dante went to after that extra ending in DMC4 or something.

Doesn't really matter what reviews are in the first place. I'm a fan of the series and I had always planned to play this and make up my own mind.

Didn't dig the demo, but who knows, maybe the full game is vastly different somehow.
