I started two days ago and finished my Chespin hat today for the AnimateMiami con. A few people recognized who I was, and it made me super happy. I'm very proud of it.I've never cosplayed or even sewn (I only sewed once in my Art class in 8th grade), so I'm very surprised at how cute it looks! At this point, Chespin is so solidified in my mind that nothing can stop me from choosing him. If he has terrible stats and evolutions, so be it, he's so adorable in his first stage that I can't put him down! I'm obsessed! :3
This. Somewhere between gen 2 and 3 is the sweet spot for the amount of legendaries. The trio legendary set (birds, beasts, regi, lake and kami), cover legendaries(2 or 3), the cute fairy (Mew, Celebi, jirachi, manaphy and victini) and the menacing legendary ( mewtwo, deoxys, and genesect). 8 legendaries is enough.Seriously, if gen V has taught me anything, more legendaries is NOT a good thing.
SOOO many legendaries introduced, and almost all of them useless, terrible designs. Gen VI NEEDS to cut down on legendaries.
I never even completely got the concept of gen 5 legendaries. What did reshiram, zekrom and kyurem do? the kami trio brought weather changes something the gen 3 cover legends already did. Meloetta looked like a witch and sang pretty. I didn't get the point or theme of them really. I think Johto and Hoenn legends got it right where it was the right amount of lore to make them interesting and mysterious while not making them gods. Id rather them have a smaller group of legends with an interesting lore/backstory and ability associated with them.It feels like they'd been trying to "up the ante" for a while, with each generation bringing in new legendaries of increasingly-large roles, but...I think they've kind of tapped out that well by now. We've already seen all of time and space, creation itself...what's left in terms of big, heady concepts that they could even explore? The pokemon gods of love and hate?
At least the new duo, a super-stag and dragon-bird, do look like they have the potential to be just extremely powerful creatures of their own, rather than some sort of crazy abstracted deity.
Screw the legendaries! Show me some Eggsecutor love. Sometimes I feel only I like the bastard.

IMO, the worst Pokemon design of all time. Too esoteric in its mythological origin, even for its native audience. It doesn't even look like what it's supposed to be.
What if.. get this. What if they gave Rhydon an evolution where he had brown armor that looked really bad? What if?

Walking Grass/Psychic palm tree = bad ass
cracked eggs = not so badass
I actually like Arceus' design :/
I always thought they were seeds, but the names insist otherwise.

So you would have cut:This. Somewhere between gen 2 and 3 is the sweet spot for the amount of legendaries. Gen 1: 5 legendaries
Gen 2: 6 legendaries
Gen 3: 10 legendaries
Gen 4: 13 legendaries (not including phione)
Gen 5: 13 legendaries

Wha, is there hate on Arceus? D:
I just wish Arceus would have had a more compelling sprite. It's as simple as it could get, looks very flat, and lacks depth. I had hoped Black/White/2 would give it a makeover, but nope. Now that we're going to 3D models, I can't have a proper Arceus sprite in a Pokemon game :<
I hate Arceus because I was never able to get one, even a fake one. Damn nintendo and their "travel 200 miles and spend $40 in gas to your nearest toys r us to get the pokemon"
Was there ever a given reason why they changed the convention from unofficially naming the characters after the game names to giving them more "normal" ones? I felt like things were easier to keep track of when we had Red/Blue, Gold/Silver...now I look over threads like this and it's like...Nate? Rose? Brendan? Something about it just feels weird to me.
And the most SHIT trio

Well, at least we banned him today.
General consensus seems to identify it as a clit.Is that his dick
Seriously, what the FUCK were they thinking with the clit on Tornadus?
I always thought they were seeds, but the names insist otherwise.

That Arceus sure is ugly. The new legendary is much better looking.
Das so cute. Where can I get one?

Yeah I'm surprised people missed the point of the Tao trio. Kami trio isn't about weather - it's about two dicks being dicks because their leader was missing. Meloetta is a representation of serenity and creativity (hence being a muse reference) which has withered away.
This reflects on the designs post Gameboy where Pokemon have more subtle themes than the first two gens (although gen 2 has some subtle stuff too). Notice how many people who draw evolved Chespin miss the point that its back is a chestnut? Notice how many people rage over Klink's evolution by dissing it in saying that "it only adds gears", forgetting how that's the entire point of the Klinklang design? Just shows how Pokemon design isn't just face value nowadays which is good and puts Pokemon different from your usual, what-you-see-is-what-you-get monster designs.
That's a Digimon![]()
I know. My point is, for all the crap that modern Pokemon design gets heaped with, most of the designs are quite well thought out, or at least based in some reality (Throh, Sawk, Vanilite - all of them), while other monster-based games simply try to whack as much shit together, with no respect to anything else, other than what looks cool (As an aside, this is one of the things turning me off from Soul Sacrifice).
