Interesting pilot. I liked the documentary style of introducing characters and giving them a chance to talk a bit about themselves.

May be a bit early in the game to make my calls, but I don't think my list will change.

Crest of the Stars (Seikai no Monshou)

Episode 9

The last scene with Empress Ramaj was very interesting as well. It seems we get our first look at the leader of the Abh empire as well as the representatives to the different groups which make up the United Humankind Alliance. The way the scene is set up visually you really do get the feeling that she is an imposing figure. There is the classic having on party elevated above another to show positional dominance in the current situation but the fact that her throne extends even further above her head just emphasizes this. There is also the aerial shot where her and her throne are seen to be at the center of the frame surrounded by a ring of water, making her the focal point as to what's important. The story is coming across as having a bias towards the Abh Empire that they truly are innocent and it is the United Humankind and their actions which makes them the seemingly undisputed antagonists as far as this story goes.

Crest/Banner while being technically space opera is more of a character study between Lafiel/Jinto. As such, no one gives a crap about United Mankind. There is one "right" side in this war and that is the Abh.

Although I guess if you think about it, the Abh invade other civilizations willy nilly and its just that the show is so nonchalant about it that the viewer is led to believe its no big deal.

I don't care anymore. I don't feel remotely interested in this show and these characters. Nothing about this show except like, the action sequences and animation is good, and both of those are marred by the crappy character designs and worse mecha designs.

Nah the finger-sex will stay, just incredibly lewd pics will go to nsfw status (aka naked girls embracing, kissing, etc). Unless the intimate moments are done tastefully that is. I admit I got carried away a bit and need to get back on the correct, proper path of yuri.

The sexiest female characters to me are the ones that are smart, capable, and good at being real waifus. They can be older as long as their breasts are not obscenely huge. The sexiest male characters are the ones that look the most like girls. Even better if I can't tell.

I think I was actually at 23. Now that I'm at 24 like some stupid tweeny bopping love triangle stuff happened and I think a main character (not a main character) died. Also Flit Asuno is making a case for how he is a worse human being than Rau Le Creuset. And um, uh, oh, they said the Adeles were based on the Gundam AGE 1. Because you know, mass producing the Gundam AGE would be asking too much of Flit. And the episode ends with Flit sucking Grodek off, just as it began. If these characters were human and allowed to be seen as wrong, I'd give a damn, but no.

Also, every last element of this show is predictable like no other. When you see the first episode of an arc, you know exactly how everything will happen until it is over.

What an awful episode, Mochizou only got like 20 seconds of screentime or even less though was fortunately joined by second and third best character designs. This anime really needs to take off fast as as it stands now it just feels like there no plot and nothing is happening. It makes no attempt to even make me care for any of the actual main characters at all and the new girl is just as terrible as them, so hopefully that flaw is corrected as we go on, but I think it may be too late.

A massive improvement from the rather ugly DVDs still not as good as it could have been I guess. The combing artefacts (possibly from a 1080i master?) and aliasing kind of kill it. Then again just seeing the amount of detail it regained from the conversion is good enough. Now to rob a bank so I can buy it...

But the show takes great pains to steer the viewer towards the Abh side. The mankind people are always scheming weasels and the Abh are this perfect race with a bunch of military and political geniuses running the government.

True, it never explicitly says the Abh is in the right, but that's the impression I got as a viewer. Jinto is also surprisingly loyal to the Abh throughout the whole thing despite his circumstances with Hyde which further reinforces this view in my mind.
