The big question remains, will there be enough ram dedicated for party/cross-game chat?

Everything sounds good but that ram rumor has to be BS. The increase in cost alone makes me thing there is no way that is happening
No, no. I'm all for them hitting the U.S. as early as possible. But going into Japan early seems idiotic. The country doesn't buy consoles, least of all one produced by Microsoft. There is no reason to want an early launch advantage in that country. Europe, on the other hand, is a market where an early launch would be helpful. I'm not saying necessary, I'm saying helpful - whereas it's outright useless in Japan.
It will be something close to 8GB of GDDR5. If not that exact amount.
Did you guys really think sony would let MS win the numbers game? ;

What if they already have it lead out as a $349 console with 4GB of GDDR5 & push it to $379 with 8GB of GDDR5?

The best thing about the social button if true is that even more annoying cunts will be posting shit videos on youtube explaining how they did this and that, headshots on COD, teabagging etc. Digging through that much crap to get to the quality material could be interesting.
Did I say best thing?

This thread seriously needs some tech savvy guys for real talk.
It is why else do you think MS spent a ton of money to R&D on the move units and go with ESRAM? Because they wanted 8gigs of ram and it would be much more expensive to use GDDR5.
no it's 100!!! Lol 10 times

Who loves Sony? Europe.
Who does Sony hate? Europe.
;(
Sounds good, but I'm very sceptical about whether that's the whole truth. 15 minutes of (presumably 1080) video is a pretty huge wodge of data. No processing penalty suggests it's not being compressed at the fly, so you're looking at a couple of gigabytes of RAM just for that? If it *can* be compressed on the fly you're looking at something closer to 800MB, I think, which is still large - but then there's a processing hit. Unless the processing is handled in independent hardware, I guess - are there devices that can encode H264 (for instance) in realtime?
Either way it does strike me that earmarking that much RAM for (presumably) this one feature of the OS alone is a big hit to the amount that devs can use.
Seeing as the RAM rumor is obviously a fabrication what makes anyone think that the rest of the article is credible?
come back to reality. 8gb ggdr5 is simply not going to happen. may I eat crow for a thousand years if it does.
I think it lays the ground. one get the leads and thus has more room to manoeuvre than the other. y'know, just like this gen.
I don't discount sony's price hurt their efforts at the beginning, but at the same time, the lead that the 360 built up has proved insurmountable for them, even with a £125 machine at christmas and a much better exclusive back catalogue as well as free online.
Apparently the 15 minute recording happens in the background without any hit on performance... but what about uploading?
What's the chances it'll pause your game while it does the work to get it uploaded?
It will be something close to 8GB of GDDR5. If not that exact amount.

Because things change over time?To those complaining about EU getting it later - I'm in the UK - I would say to you this:
Every Sony console, ever, has released in Japan significantly earlier than the EU.
Every Sony console, ever, has released in NA ealier than the EU.
Why the fuck would people expect this to be any different?
8GB of GDDR5 sounds far-fetched. Even if was true, it would make Orbis uncomfortably close to the PS3 in terms of high base price and selling at a loss.

Oh fuck you sony, really fuck you, I have the ball full of this shit... another christmas with a 7th year older hardware, stupid bastard!PlayStation 4’s European launch will follow in early 2014.
"The PS4 hardware will continually record the most recent 15 minutes of onscreen action (with no processing penalty, claims our source), which users will then be able to edit and broadcast via the Internet."
I said it's probably something close. In fact it doesn't even have to be all GDDR5. Another half could be DDR3.
We'll find out soon.![]()
I think he means that if the PS4 is priced at $349 by Sony before it is released, they could include 4GB more RAM and change the price to $379 instead.fragment the user-base? seems a stupid thing to do.

MS and Nintendo managed to release their consoles with just small delays.
If Edge didn't believe a word of a rumour they wouldn't post it, there'd be point in it and they'd look stupid. They post credible information, some of it happens to be completely wrong, just like any other site.

Will it be more powerful than Wii U ?
I hope these extra features on controllers dont increase their price, its already too expensive.

I'm worried about the battery life of the Controller because of the extra touch features and the LCD.
I hope these things doesn't drain the battery quickly.
PS4 is sounding like a beast of a system, Im not going to lie. Hopefully MS tries to match its specs a bit more.
Anyways, I really like the sound of the share button.. that seriously sounds like a fantastic idea. Man, its going to be hard to choose one of these consoles this fall..
Does the Pope shit in the woods?

If it does happen the fanboy wars on Gamespot, GT, and Gamefaqs will be GLORIOUS.
PS3 launched 14 months later in Europe. I think a few months delay in one territory (especially if the price difference is much smaller than last time) will be pretty minor in terms of marketshare in the long term.
