Not...really. I mean I own a Wii U. I'm not going to be disappointed with it visually when I purchase a 720/PS4 and see games on those sytems look much better. The Wii U is what it is. I look at each system within a vacuum, really. Like I said, I think each system's exclusives will play to its strengths significantly. When looking at Durango compared to the 360, it's an astronomical jump in processing power. That'll translate later into the games.
If multiplats look better on PS4, so be it, I'll get them on that.

That's totally not what happens.
PS3 price was jacked up because of Blu Ray. Sony doesn't have some fairy dust that will allow them to create a console that is significantly more powerful than MS's one, at the same TDP and price and has the same capabilities to deliver the same features.
It's not feasible. That's even worse than believing in secret sauce honestly.

A lot of good those Sony exclusives did for them this gen, right. Sony could release a Killzone, Resistance, LBP, inFamous, etc...that completely destroys whatever MS decides to put out graphically but the numbers show people really dont give a crap about those games.

We'll see what E3 holds but personally I think MS is in trouble; and I don't trust the companies overall culture or goals to deliver what I or what I expect many potential customers would like to see met.
Sony on the other hand seem to have a system that could have a pretty significant impact.
The controller is the only negative so far, if it hasn't gotten more user friendly.

What kind of performance difference, if any, will depend on individual games. Different games stress different aspects of performance differently. I don't think you'll be typically seeing cases where a game is one framerate on Durango and twice the framerate on Orbis or anything like that, though.
What kinds of differences are more typical will come out in the wash later, when multiplats can be compared.

Well, Battlefield 3 on ultra at 1080p is near 30fps on AMD HD7850 and near 20 on HD7770. So, if things would be like that in this case it wouldn´t be playable on Xbox 720.

The big things are already in there. Online and ability to watch T.V and movie content in it. Communities will be entirely dependent on games now, because nobody is gonna boot their console just to go on facebook and talk with somebody.

Neither have the financial flexibility though. Ballmer would have to take even more money from the business side to prop up the consumer side of the business.
The problem is hes already having to deal with serious issues elsewhere; there will be pressure I feel for MS to move into assisting businesses in offering things like digital distribution as oppose to providing it themselves.
They need the OS RAM to be there at all times and it would be too expensive to include 8GB DDR5.

I'm not convinced that the difference will translate to more than fps and something like 1080p vs slightly sub 1080p resolution. If we were talking about a 7770 level of performance vs a 1GHz 7970 where the flop count was almost 400% more instead of 50% more, sure I think the differences would be much more noticeable.
Well I have always figured people care about sales, trumpet sales because it means the games/system they prefer can continue to be made, and won't be Dreamcasted/Segaed/3DOed, Jaguared etc. So if it is selling well then you know hey they'll be around in the long run. After all more consoles failed in our hobby than have been successful.

Considering ROP and Tflop power GDDR5 wouldn't change anything. DDR3 and SRAM was good choice considering they won't need so much bandwidth afterall. GDDR5 for Durango with that spec would be just waste of resources.

It is exactly what happens. PS3 was ~ $800 to produce at the start, blue violet laser diodes were not that expensive, it was Cell, XDR and RSX that cost a lot. Notice that for those three specs Sony have gone in a completely different direction, no custom parts, all off the shelf and easily available. Plus Blu-ray drives are not much more expensive that DVD drives now so Orbis won't have that problem either.
32MB ESRAM will add a significant amount to the APU die which will raise costs and lower yields.
They don't... But I'll be buying a ps4 =P

I would suggest setting your expectations bar at 720p/30fps for both of them and being pleasantly surprised if anything else happens.

You can get that this gen.
It all depends on the game and what it's pushing onscreen at a technical level. If you're expecting next gen's Halo, Uncharted, GTA, etc at 1080p/60fps, then...no. You might get them at 1080p, but don't expect 60fps.

If there is no resolution jump in the generation after this, would it be incorrect of me to assume RAM will become increasingly optimised in its current form? A bit like processors seem pretty generic? If I make sense. Just to get an understanding of the current allocation in Orbis.

Well, put them a COD at 60fps in one side and the same COD at 90fps in the other side...
Sorry but current console usage and demographics say different....
For instance many people buying android tablets for Christmas this year went with Jelly Bean only devices because the software is just that much better. I'm not saying it wasn't the only factor but it was definitely a factor. I'm also not saying it's going to be a big factor in these two consoles selling because it's not but saying software and multimedia capabilities won't make a difference is silly.
Many people bought the PS3 because it could play blu-rays not because of the games.
