50% off select Final Fantasy titles on North American PSN

$5 for the new translation of War of the Lions, even an unsellable digital version, is an absolute steal. Anyone who hasn't played that yet, do it!

One more save-file-compatibility question:

I ripped my PS1 discs to my PSP using Prometheus long, long ago. Will the mid-game save files transfer over to the Vita?

Because I'll re-buy FF8 and 9 just to have them on the bigger screen.

Hopefully a save file is a save file, no matter what format the game is in...?

Dissidia 012 and Prologus if you want Aerith.

How does Aerith play? ...and is it just 1 extra character?

Also can the CFW Plugin work on the Vita?

Also, sell me on FF8, it always felt too slow for me to bother getting far in it =_=.

Hmmmmm I already own these in physical form... but just having digital versions might be appealing. I'm sick of dealing with ripping my own custom eBoots for PSP.

I've never played a Final Fantasy game before.

If I buy VI,VII, and IX for my Vita, am I doing it right?
What order should I play them in? Are any of these unessential?

Also, are there any new Final Fantasy games coming up or remakes that I should wait for instead of hopping in with these ones?

(GAF, you have my expectations set high... I've got Ni no Kuni, Xenoblade, Persona 4 Golden, Demon's/Dark Souls, and Valkyria Chronicles though and I really hope the FF series will stand up to those...)

She's just an assist. I think she restores HP but I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure VIII is the fastest Final Fantasy, unless you're referring to it's pacing which I would still have to disagree. The setting, music and battle system are fantastic(ignore draw, you don't need it) and the characters are unique. I can't guarantee you'll like them but they're all different and IMO have the best character designs in the series.

For people on the fence about getting VIII or IX, get both. They're completely different but offer great experiences.

VII and IX are great for Vita. Good choices. VIII is great too. Yeah, the PS1 era is a great way to try these.

VI is kind of a shitty port. It will do the trick but it has sound quality issues and load times. The game itself is amazing, though.

Also you are a total weirdo for having such diverse jRPG experience, but not FF ;)

Will grab 012 for my Vita. Half way tempted by 4 but I think it's a far worse game then DS so I might just get the iOS version.

  • Yes, they will play on your Vita.
  • There is no order as each game is its own story.
  • The only remakes that I've heard about that are in the works are IV, V, and X. I only hope that VI gets a remake as well.

Will most likely double dip and get the digital version of IV so that I don't have to dig out my PSP whenever I finally get around to playing TAY. Very tempted to also grab I+II, V and VI, just have have a complete PSN collection but, ugh, I really don't have any interest in playing these versions so I probably shouldn't waste the money.

So I bought FF4 complete a few weeks ago at full money. It is wonderful if you love that 2d art- it just pops on the vita screen.

Will get 8 and 9.

Just how fun is 012? I have no idea.

Sigh.

If I played FF6 on my vita, would it still have obscene loading times like if I played it on playstation?
Someone earlier mentionned how the faster load option made things go slower so I'd guess yes. This is essentially why I can't bring myself to buy these versions of V and VI.

I know it's not a popular opinion but I just wish they were redone like IV complete. Though I guess if they get remade it will be more like III and IV on DS (and probably on 3DS).

Excuse me if this sounds incredibly stupid, but I'm new to the PSN (despite having owned a PSP for years....), and I wanted to know if there was any way to buy PSN games from a PC/smartphone ? Because I don't want to go through the hassle of configuring my PSP at work.
If no can do, then bleh :( Why don't these people make it easy for me to give them monies ? :/

Yup

Gweg, look up the software called Playstation Store Network Downloader.

As for Aerith... #DDFFCasual will tell you she is essential if you want to play Dissidia competitively. I really don't think she is, rather that Kuja does remain the best assist of the game overall. Surely she is nothing but a gimmick if you want to stick to offline play.

You won't have any problem so you long you've kept your PSP's CFW up to date at all time over the years. I will convert your saves for you if you stumble upon corruption issues: http://dissidiaforums.com/showthread.php?13700-Savegame-file-problems&p=406541&viewfull=1#post406541

I read on the first page that some of the PS1 games run slow and/or have long loading times. Can someone list which titles are affected by the aforementioned issues? Dont wanna end up buying janky games.

I really really wish they would patch War of the Lions slowdown. A fan made fix for it is embarassing as hell. More people need to enjoy the bomb ass translation. Verily.

Which is the better ff? 8 or 9??

Don't say 7, I'm getting that regardless

Which do you prefer? Charming characters, or whiny characters? Because Squall (FF8) is probably one of the whiniest characters in gaming (well, outside of Tidus), filled with teen angst.

that's my plan! i forget how much it usually goes for though, what's it going for right now?

0 for 2

FF4 complete is 20 smackeroos on US PSN.

Wish US Plus members also get additional discounts on stuff going on sale like what EU PSN does, even if its 10-20% =/
