Knack (PS4) Announced

This game was, in my opinon, an unsung hero of the conference. Together with Capcom's footage it was the most 'next gen' thing they've shown. It's a shame people don't seem to recognize it much and think it looked bad or so unimpressive that they shouldn't have opened with it.

The concept could be interesting and the Dreamworks like art isn't bad.

Fun fact: The game's name reads "shagged" in Arabic.
Good thing the general public will most likely pronounce the k.

The general Arabic public? Cause the English speaking public does not pronounce the "k".

Watching the trailer made me think of Pixar and Dream Works. The graphics are impressive, very impressive. What was most fascinating was the quality writing. Sure its early to tell so the story can still be your typical shitty video game story but it is off to a strong start.

Diversity is good Knack bashers. What is the point of being so judgmental this early on? Have you ever enjoyed a Pixar movie or Dream Works movie? If yes, then you have no excuse to say this game looks like a piece of shit.

I completely agree, game looks awesome.

If i had one nitpick so far, is that the colors seem to be too muted. I wish they were deeper and richer, would complement the art style IMO.

Really looking forward to this after finding out Mark Cerny had worked on designing games for Crash, Spyro, Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank series. Great to see Sony is still working on Platforming games.

Haha...true. However, it's not classical Arabic per say, more like an argotic verb.

It looks nice, like a Saturday morning CG cartoon. I'm iffy on the main character but I'm interested in knowing more about the game.

Honestly, I feel for the devs. I'm sure they have put a lot of effort into this, but why do games like this even get greenlighted? This looks like it will be a bomba.

Give us an IP that will actually excite us, and where money would be better spent. e.g. Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter.

Give us the same old shit? You're the worst kind of consumer.

Like others have said, it looks like a PS1-era platformer. And that's not a bad thing.

I want to see an actual difficult 3D platformer which means moving platforms and timed jumps and instant death (which they can work into the story and checkpoint system with how Knack can disassemble and reconstruct himself).

Every SCEJ project lately seems to have this huge PS1-era vibe and I love it.
I think the art style looks great personally, and the concept behind Knack is very cool. Hope the gameplay is great. What they showed of the actual game in that vita remote play bit (which admitedly is very little!!) gave me a big Crash of the Titans or Spyro New Beginning vibe, something Id play in an afternoon and go "Well that was okay" when what I want is something that blows me away like the PS1 Crash and Spyros

Im very interested and hope it doesnt disappoint.

That looked great. Far better than on the stream.

Can anyone tell me if the best quality on Youtube is still not as good as just downloading the 1080p video using keepvid.com?

The PC here can't play vids on Youtube very well so I download everything and watch in VLC. Also handy since i have to turn the volume up past 100% sometimes because of the crap built in monitor speak on this machine (not mine!)

Actually now that I've rewatched the trailer in HD I realize that's the one main thing that put me off. I think vibrant colors seen in The Wonderful 101 are the kind of look this game should be aiming for.

I see what you mean by wonderful 101, the colors really vibrant, loved it. But this is different. like watching toy story where it's layer of realism tomography over like animation style, a hybrid. Not sure the vibrant colors would work with that vision.

If I'm able to get a PS4 day 1 this will most likely be the title I get first. Looks like a great action platformer from a trusted dev.

PS1 and PS2 era. At first these "humans" reminded me of people (whatever they are) in Jak games. I really liked this and I trust Cerny

They really need to change the main character design. It looks completely unappealing.

This is the only part that bothered me.

I want them to keep the main character but change all the other art to fit him.

We are literally the opposites of each other. If we get too close the world might explode

Initially I was impressed with the charm of the game. It reminds me very much of old school mascot games, which is something I've missed the last, what, decade? But the gameplay itself didn't seem all that engaging.

However, the more I learn about Cerny, the more excited I am for this. Guy's got pedigree. Looking forward to seeing more.

Honestly from GFX standpoint this looked just amazing in HD youtube video.

Let's hope they will deliver that level of AA because it is very close to CG films.

Download the gamersyde HD video of the game here - http://www.gamersyde.com/game_2663_en.html

Check out the gameplay portion. It looks downright gorgeous.

This game makes me want a PS4 Ape Escape game so bad

I don't know why, but I really like the voice acting of the goblin in the trailer. Might be Troy Baker. Not sure. Definitely a recognizable voice. But what stood out to me I guess was the way the delivery was slightly affected to mimic the serious underbite.

This is how i feel about the other characters, not so much the entire art of the game.

Surely Cerny can achieve whatever end goal he has envisioned for this project.

This game will stay on my launch window radar.

this game's art design is pretty weird. kinda playdough-ish with some weird animated commercial thing going on.

the gameplay looks like it might be really fun, though.

Love the feel of the game from has been shown but the art direction is poor, are they going for a CGI cartoon or steampunk?

Bits have the awesome torchlight atmosphere then it just gets lost again with what looks like toy tanks and planes.

Most refreshing game announced. I am most looking forward to how this game progresses in the coming months, hopefully the visuals become a bit more vibrant.

it's so good to see SCEJ actually prepared for a new generation. They definitely are Sony's most creative company.

the artstyle really grows on you, I was a bit put off at first during livestream, but watching it a couple more time, I love it now.

also like the hint of trying for a more serious story, with the villain asking why Knack help the humans. just give me this nostalgic feeling, 90s kid sensibilities perhaps, but I can't wait for this game now.

I can't say I have a KNACK, for this right now, I'll have to see more gameplay videos of this before I can decide.

it has potential for some creative puzzles and exploration, ability to shrink to small form, morph into multiple bigger form for combat probably each form with unique abilities, you can even see Knack switch to different material like glass and bypass laser etc.
