Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | February 2013 | The most desirable handheld in Japan

From the GDC Developer Survey Thread:

Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld showed a slight uptrend in support, but from extremely low percentages. While less than 2% of respondents made their last game for the console, 4.2% are making their current game for Vita, and just over 5% plan to release their next game there. And North American developers are unconvinced of the Nintendo 3DS's potential. 2% are currently making a 3DS game, and only 2.8% of developers plan to release their next game on the 3DS.

Vita getting 100% more support than the 3DS amongst western Devs.

|OT| 100% More Development

Those are some sad percentages, but HEY!!! at least it is going up quite a bit.

Man, someone should tell them they need to plan that better and ask whether they plan on stating the platforms before the kickstarter ends. I'd support it if I KNEW its going to get a Vita version, but as it stands its only Win, Linux, Android.

Sort of true, it definitely doesnt seem like developers faults however.

I don't think they believe they will even hit that number and if they did they would just ask their backers what they would like to see it ported to. The irony of all this is that a Vita version would for sure outsell the Linux and perhaps the Mac and Android versions and would be about as simple to port to if what Brian from Retro City Rampage is anything to go by.

So far, I'm very much enjoying Ninja Gaiden Σ2+.
The framerate issues aren't as bad as I'd heard (on singleplayer at least, the game runs like Σ Plus for the most part), and the graphics are similar to Σ Plus, with lower resolution and worse textures offsetting the better lighting and effects.

The controls are about as responsive as Σ Plus, which can be a positive or a negative. Gimmicks are kept to a minimum, and the gyro and back touch controls can be turned off.
Loading times are faster then the PS3 version for sure.

The resolution is very crisp for the most part. Not native, but close. It drops frequently however, especially during loading (menus, new areas, ect) and graphically heavy moments (lots of enemies onscreen, Ryu using an Ultimate technique or Ninpo, boss using large shiny attack, ect). It doesn't stay low for long, so I haven't had much issues with it but different folks, different strokes.

Initially, my first impressions were quite bad. I felt like I could barely control Ryu, but I quickly adapted and can now play the game almost like I play Σ2. I'd definitely recommend it if you liked Σ Plus.

dynamic resolution?

oh so that why there are some pixelated screenshots..I thought it's a retro mode or something.

I got the Motorstorm game bundle...hell it seems fun...holy hell at all the keys. Is there a download all button or am I going to have to sift through it all?

Congratulations, you got the game with the most replayability on the platform and best leaderboard integration.

(No clue about the keys)

NGS+ also have dynamic resolution in some sections, so this isn't unexpected.

Is it good? I did a quick google and saw some really bad scores so I wrote it off.

Without any exaggeration my favourite and most played game on the system. Controls are tight, content and variation is plenty and as I said, the leaderboards integration the best on the system to date. If you like highscore gaming and you have a few Vita friends who have the game to race against their ghosts, this game is awesome.

Motorstorm RC is by far the best digital only game I've ever played.

A shame it didn't get no where near enough credit as it deserved.

Can you turn off the motion controls and shit that made the bow horrible in Sigma?

The bow/cannon has to be used from the touch screen (either tap anywhere on the screen to shoot the bow there or press the touchscreen button in the bottom left corner to go into aiming mode.

IIRC back touch and gyro controls are off by default. I'll check again when I get back from classes.

Wait... I must have misread the scores. Looking at them now it is reviewed quite well. I don't really pay any attention to reviews but I thought I saw 5/10 yesterday.

Anyone giving this game a 5/10 is insane.

Or called Toto

So, I went to check out rocketbirds on SEN and got this message

You can't buy what you don't have? fANTASTIC!:D
worked fine when i bought it directly through vita

Oh my god... is there an easy way to download all these extra vehicles in Motorstorm..

I have no clue since I dont own all these vehicles. You wont miss them anyway, just get the base game and the 2 Track DLC for now if you dont want to bother with the rest.

And then you hit a wall with those stupid dirt trucks and the desert tracks. I quit the game after that and haven't gone back. Fuck trying to do a hotlap and continuously spinning out/drifting into walls no matter how far I push the sticks out.

The web store doesn't seem to like people making Vita purchases.

Seems like they had it at the wrong price. It changed, and everything is okay now :)

Random thought : I really should try to get all of those Welcome Park trophies one day.

It's not that, there's a discounted version that is only available if you own the PS3 version. If you don't, you have to get the regularly priced Vita version.

Ah, I see. thanks.

Its all about timing your acceleration and brake moments. 5* a level is piss easy if you put a few hours of training into learning the quirks of each car type and terrain (except the drift ones, which are really hard). Most of the time I easily managed to shave of 10-20 seconds of the gold time.

Its not a game you play to platinum, its a game you play to improve yourself and become a better player to rival the times of other people. :p
Besides, they already lowered the times since launch, if your only try was on launch day.

Meh.. watching some Dota anyways so I'll do it. I'd be SOL without the tap and drag to scroll. They list all the PS3 vehicles first.

Grimmy has the right idea.

(All that's left is to put up the new banners when U get home!)

OH btw, I would appreciate if you could link the Lets play thread for march in the OP as well :) Havent put up the thread yet, but I'll let you know.

The "gaming community" just doesn't want $249 handhelds. Look at the 3DS launch disaster.

(and they sure don't want memory cards that cost up to 4x what SD cards cost)

I just bought a used Vita from Cowboom for $129.99. Hope it's in good shape when it shows up. Already bought my Plus membership.

IMHO, the memory cards prices are a much bigger issue than the price of the device itself; but, that said, the Vita needs to be $200 max AND always include an 8GB Memory Stick. SONY's lack of interest in addressing these price issues in the US just further exemplifies that they don't give a sh*t about the device any more. Sad, because it's such an awesome device.

Do you know what the 2 tracks are called? There are so many things for Motorstorm in the dl list that I can't tell.
