XboxEvent.com just registered by the same company that did Xbox's E3 presentations

Nope i would bet they are probably tracking your cursor in the dashboard.
I CS student implemented it for a website just querying the mouse movement and clicks.
They had a heat map for every page and could see what kept people clicking and interested.

So maybe microsoft not so trojan horse to get into the add business to compete with google.

Or gathering data of what people like in games. Companies already do this.

Anti-piracy is one, a siri-like service for Kinect, getting you to spend money in Microsoft's ecosystem, more ad-revenue, free-to-play games, regular updates for the OS, apps and games, enabling more games to be like Destiny and there are probably more that I can't think of right now. So even though Microsoft might sell less console, they could make much more money of the people who do own it.

I'm not that scared about privacy stuff on my consoles, because it's not like the internet where if you click on something by accident, your intentions can be completely misinterpreted, same with Google searches. Like I'll search on Google about people I've never heard of if they're mentioned in something, but I don't like that Google assumes I like their work. That needs to be done better.

For games though, I don't really have a big problem with it because there are only so many games, and even then the ads aren't that hard to ignore or mold over time as you play stuff you actually like.

Glasses, wands, and motion gesture controls are not what I want in gaming. The more immersive these companies try to make gaming, the more ridiculous gamers end up looking. Kinect, Move, and the Wii remote weren't revolutions. Neither was 3D glasses. Or the Virtua Boy. It's just a way for these companies to rebrand Smell-o-vision as the next big thing.

In Kinect's case, the thing didn't even work as advertised. Everyone thought it was going to be some sort of Minority Report revolution but it was a laggy mess that serious developers didn't even want to make games for. That should worry anyone.

I don't know. Listen, I hate motion controls as much as anybody on here. I think they're useless, and only work in very rare cases that don't warrant their overall existence. On the other hand, there is always room for improvement with stuff like Kinect when it comes to UI. I think it could be a great tool for everything but gaming.

When it comes to these glasses, I'm actually fairly excited. The difference between these and the Kinect or PSMove is that they're not going to affect the control of the game.

It looks like some Xbox group at Haifa (Israel) is working with next gen Kinect:

The XBOX team Israel is a fast growing team that is responsible for designing, building and delivering the devices and the innovative solution for Xbox and various future NUI applications. If you are passionate for technology based on fundamental physical principles, we are offering a unique and great opportunity for talented people, to help us build state-of-the-art products which will serve millions throughout the world.

Responsibilities: Research the physical behavior of a 3D imaging system, design innovative solutions and test them in the lab; work closely with peers in Redmond on the integration of features and devices into products, and be part of a fast moving and growing development team.

I wish, but nah :/

I did some investigation and according to the event they handled prior, the site went live ~1 week after the registration + we have that new site rightnowatmicrosoft.com

I expect either an announcement of the event or at least an ARG or something today. :o

I admire your spirit.

I wonder what song they're going to use as their like main song for the event. It's going to be some hipster thing that only people in their 20's living Seattle listen to. That's why I love Microsoft's game stuff. It's always like aimed at that "one-step-beyond-MTV" kind of market.

I guess that's old, 360 Microsoft though. Who knows, maybe they'll change their image up a bit.

I don't know about today, but we're getting an announcement of the event in March. Like I said before, I'm expecting them to set a date after March 19th. (Gears Judgement launch day)
Yeah, that seems likely. Also, the risk of leaks is significantly increased due to the START (Strategies, Tactics and Regional Targets) FY14 starting next week (March 4-7), so I assume they don't want to delay an announcement for too long.

I just wonder why they not announce the console before GDC so devs can speak openly about it ...

Probably slightly arrogant (#1 console, know devs will flock), and slightly a consumer decision (announce closer to launch so that it has a bigger impact with consumers).

MS would be smart to follow the Apple model and have pre-orders ready to go within days of the announcement as well.

I swear if E3 2013 doesn't deliver I'm gonna eat my socks.

I think we'll see a lot of stuff that is kind of common sense, but has slipped people's minds. Stuff like The Walking Dead Season 2, Fallout 4, Mass Effect: Whatever, etc., not to mention a bunch of cool looking XBLA/PSN games. Games we'll all be excited for, but we don't really expect until they're announced.

Yeah, it's a bit strange, and I saw a mention on Gamasutra that SCEA has a session devoted entirely to PS4:

Overview of PS4 for Developers
(Presented by Sony Computer Entertainment
America)

Sony Presenters | , Sony Computer Entertainment America
Location: Room 2002, West Hall
Date: March 27
Time: 11:00AM - 12:00PM
Format: Sponsored
Vault Recording: Not Recorded
Track: Design

PlayStation 4 just announced in Feb 2013 is the latest console from the makers of
PlayStation. This presentation will discuss the technology from a development standpoint
as well as from the design side.

Microsoft has got a lot of sessions and speakers at GDC this year, and at the moment the focus seems to be on Windows 8. But it's got little on Sony's session, and current generation is becoming less relevant for each day (at least in a development perspective, in terms of transition from this generation to the next is extremely important financially).

those things probably wont make the main stage conference. at most just mentions with logos

I think this years E3 will be software driven to an extent, but I think the excitement of this years E3 will be answers to the hardware questions.

Will Kinect 2 work?
What is the PS4 Camera?
How much do the consoles cost?
What services will I have to pay for?
Does the new Xbox controller split in two?
Did Sony shoot most of its load at its meeting?

Larry's just welcoming in the month of March....no hidden meaning behind that statement.
He probably just likes that time of year....

March reveal confirmed!
