XboxEvent.com just registered by the same company that did Xbox's E3 presentations

I assume this is some sort of tacit acknowledgement that MS will at least say something about the next-generation this month (whether its an announcement of an event or a tease).

Well, we have GDC and PAX this month, and of course the Xbox event next month (which they'll likely start invites this month) :)

If so CVG needs to check its sources, which wouldn't be terribly surprising.

Still thinking April but I'm all for March.

For what it's worth, this was posted in the new IP thread.

The only fear I have is they'll wont have a standard controller in the box. So it's play games with Kinect or not at all. I'm out if that's the case.

That's a crazy fear to have. Microsoft will have a standard controller, rumours have suggested it will be changed in some way. Quite looking forward to see what they've done with it and how much impact, if any Perceptive Pixel have had on the new controller.

That's not surprising since that's where 3dv (3d depth sensing game camera) was before Microsoft bought them pre-Kinect

3dv's zcam was a tof camera... If they are the ones developing the new kinect will it be a tof camera too?

It would explain the marginal increase in res for the leaked specs, as well the comments about it being more precise.

Gearing up for the next gen! Rare has been snatching up a lot of folk from Codemasters lately.

I misworded my question. I meant to point out that it is a bit concerning that they've only recently hired people for projects. I would have assumed they had multiple projects in the works for at least a year by now. But maybe they're just ramping up for the final stretch before release...

Companies regularly hire even the same year their games release. Ubisoft is still hiring right now for Watch Dogs.

We see the Durango this month, it just feels.... it just feels riiight. Yeaaaah.

End of a "mental" week makes it sound like there was definitely a time crunch on it. Maybe it's real soon. MS feeling the heat.

It may also be a random comment, or a gratuitous teasing for nothing in particular. We shouldn't look too much into it.

It would also explain why there is now a usable IR stream. The IR stream would only be useable when depth tracking was not being used because it would mess up the patterns needed by the PrimeSense stuff. Doesn't necessarily mean they got rid of PrimeSense, but it certainly leads credence to it. They probably wanted to get rid of the cost for the PrimeSense stuff.

Why should it be a reference if he also could have said it more directly. I doubt it.

Don't know. Could be a reference to an ad campaign that's revving up. Every leak about Microsoft's launch plans say April.

Even if they're event is in April, doesn't mean they can't talk about next gen in March.

That's a possibility, which would also allow devs to talk about their next gen Xbox games.

Yeah, maybe they want to talk about things a little earlier than originally planned.

I wish they rename rare but i understand why they will not for nostalgia reasons. believe it or not there are still people from far as battletoads working there.

it would be a weird attempt to hype the new gow.

What else do they have to hype? No big retail games. No big downloadable games. Gears is pretty much all they got on 360 this year. Based on their early 360 marketing this year, they appear to be more interested in pushing third party games playable on the 360 to promote their console. I hope it's news about the next Xbox, because news about the current one is pretty damn dry.

I will never get this logic.

Because no other development team in the world has ever lost people. They've all stayed together and released consistently high quality games all the time. Every time.

"We"? Speak four yourself.

I agree with this. When they were making shitty Nintendo knock-offs with crappy framerates, I wasn't a fan. Viva Pinata made me a fan, but it didn't last long.
