Jeff's game...

???

A few sites have recently ran previews, so he could have access to a copy.

You are now connected

Building structures, laying down roads

You are now disconnected, you will be taken back to the main menu

5 minutes later

You are now connected

"What the fuck? All the roads I laid down are gone."

Put roads back down

Delete/destroy a school to build a better school in it's place

You are now disconnected

So far any frustration would come from having to be online to work on your city, if any maintenance or troubleshooting happening with EA servers I wonder what happens to current players and what's saved city wise.

As far as I'm aware if you are disconnected mid game you are not tossed from the game. Logging in is the only problem. I think once u reconnect it will throw your save to the cloud

Jeff is on record saying he always plays PC FPS games with a controller. I'm guessing Bioshock has controller support.

I'm really reading into this, I know.

Typically, I wouldn't be too bothered by something Jeff said about a random game. My taste isn't really in line with his but this is an odd month that I actually preordered (something I rarely do) 3(!) games for this month, all PC games and 2 are PC exclusives, so knowing if one of those is actually broken would be helpful for me.

Games don't have to be fun to be good

I think the implication of the tweet was Jeff was fed up with a shit game and is not going to play it anymore, and that hasn't happened to him in a while. Not that he was so into it that he threw the mouse in frustration when his buddy beat him in a race, or something.

I'm watching the Unprofessional Friday's and I cannot stop laughing at Patrick. Looks like the middle school kid who just realized he can grow facial "hair." Especially sitting next to Vinny. Amazing that he's kept it up this long.

Well SimCity is one of my preordered games, so that's good. I'm not concerned with HotS because I know exactly what to expect there. The last of my preorders is Bioshock.

I hope they will start uploading videos to youtube again soon. It's, by far, the best way to watch videos on the site (especially if I'm at work).

Dark Souls

F-Zero GX

any number of good but very difficult games

Generally. Which means most of the time but not always. Of course there are some exceptions, there are exceptions to everything. Generally, throwing your controller and saying "fuck this game" does not actually mean "Gee golly this game is tough, but I love the challenge!" It means "This game is a broken piece of shit," especially if you then feel the need to tweet about it.

Sessler tweeted last week about getting stuck on one part of a mystery game for 3 hours and asked someone to contact him about it. I wonder if that's just a coincidence..

All their original-non-premium stuff is still on youtube. It just gets uploaded later. Manually, probably.

Have you heard of "grinding"?

So a chore. Grinding is a chore. It is also not emotion you have towards a game. Grinding is an act. If you enjoy grinding, then you are have fun with it. If you don't like grinding but feel like you have to do it, it is called a chore.

So two people doing the same exact thing in a game are doing two different things?

I don't get how emotions=action. Both are grinding, one person is doing it because he enjoys it and the other person does not but does it out of necessitate. No one feel grinding.

The always-on connection requirement isn't quite as welcome if you enjoy playing solo, though, as the lack of manual saving leads to some silly complications in single player. Most notably, every action you take is immediately irrevocable: there's no rewind button or grace period when placing a building. Normally, that's not a big deal, but if you accidentally lay a road too close to a hill, you may find yourself forced to bulldoze and rebuild it (at significant cost) to actually zone the area around it. More frustratingly, if you find yourself mis-clicking when attempting to place a building, you can find yourself making very expensive mistakes. If you place a very, very costly water treatment plant and immediately discover that it's a bit closer to your wealthy residences than you intended, there's no recourse, which can be frustrating if you value efficient play. (In the absence of manual saves, disabling your internet connection is the only way to test out a risky move before actually making it permanent, which isn't an outcome that anyone can describe as ideal.) And, of course, if the master server goes down, you're unable to play even single-player. Alt-tabbing out of the game for more than a few minutes will likewise often cause you to lose your sync and be forced to restart the client entirely.

Oh that sounds like a joy to play. Thanks EA!

It's just not up to snuff. Fuck those jaggies. Random PS3 game insertions on billboards that look completely out of place. :lol

Trials Evolution: Gold Edition is where it's at.

back to freelancing, I suppose.

No manual saves in a SimCity game? If their servers make a boo boo, I don't have access to my singleplayer game?

They can fuck right off. Sorry developers, even if your game is great I can't support this surrounding shit with my wallet.

The worst thing to come out of the CBS buyout is the pre video ads for esports stuff that just makes me want to hate esports every time I see one of them going "ESPORTS WHAAAA! WE ARE SO HYPE AND COOL"

Listening to them describe the PS3 Trials as a disgusting and shameless ripoff is pretty funny, considering my reaction when I saw the 360 Trials was "Oh it's another one of those."

Trials HD did perfect that type of game, but I agree, there is no reason to ever call it original or accuse similar games after it as being ripoffs.
