Luigi's Mansion 2 Official Site is up, lots of new info

The best part about that picture is every game in it looks amazing, and a great price.

I was on the fence about this title but will most likely grab it. Anyone recommend the first game, first?

I would without a doubt. It without a doubt was my favorite Gamecube game. It's also worth it because the sequel here is going to play differently since it's on a portable. So unlike this game it won't be broken up into missions.

I really hope that if Nintendo finds a way to have Gamecube games for the Virtual Console that it's the first one released. I'll buy it again just to support it.

Got to play through the first couple of missions and give the multiplayer a whirl yesterday. It's great!

how is the framerate?

Looked like 30fps, rock stolid until you start sucking in ~2+ ghosts at once. Then it dips, much like how it looks in the videos. Actually wandering the mansion and interacting with the environment had no dips at all.

You lucky devil you. Good to hear that you enjoyed your time with it. Framerate doesn't bother me personally not unless it dips down to sub 20fps.

good stuff

can you explore the mansion from the start?

No. Lots of locked off areas that don't become accessible until you progress through the missions. But again, I only played the first two missions, so I have no idea how the mid-late game missions work.

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon looks really good. I hope they have enough innovative mechanics to stretch the game out to several mansions. I'll definitely download this before I take a trip that I have planned for early April.

I also downloaded CrashMo during the recent sale (even though I haven't finished all the puzzles in PushMo.) 3DS is looking pretty good to me.

ah well, wouldve been fantastic if you could

still getting this though

I know Nintendo usually don't spoil their games with trailer (Kid Icarus <3) but I don't want to watch them.
It's already too hard to wait!

Going to preorder this after work. Can't wait.

If I register my 3DS and LM DM I get a free game right? I remember seeing the thread I just don't know of they're still doing the deal.

Man I hadn't played the original in so long that I'm rusty as hell. Glad I decided to pop it in and play it before the sequel here releases.

Is anybody else worried about the lack of the "portrait ghost" structure? They were the bulk of the enjoyment in the original game. The puzzles you had to solve, their light backstorys, their dialogue, mystique... Just the feeling of entering a room with a new portrait ghost and all the music has stopped and you have no idea how to catch it, or how it's going to fight back once you try. Was so great.

Hopefully the absence of them doesn't effect the sequel too negatively. I'm so excited for the game.

I don't know anything about this sequel yet so I'm not sure what you're talking about with regard to "portrait ghost structure".

Are you saying that in this sequel some of the rooms won't have unique ghosts that you have to kinda "figure out the room" in order to make them appear? I would assume this game has lots of that.

Holy crap, why does this game look so good? Did Next Level Games get some Shin'en people to work on this? 'Cause graphically it looks very nice, even though 3DS games typically look bad in screenshots.

I think the delays really paid off from what we're seeing.

GameXplain just posted their analysis using a bunch of the recent footage

Some interesting stuff there--didn't notice the giant clock might be rewinding time.

I didn't watched videos for a long time but couldn't resist for this one... The game really looks gorgeous and is full of awesome little details. That's what I like the most here, not using only power for better graphics but mostly for the credibility of the world, it's atmosphere and everything which can rise the quality of the global gaming experience they offer. I'm really hoping for very very good reviews.

Sent in a review to the office a few days ago, so if anybody wants to maybe hit me with some questions before the dev unit is requisitioned I'm keen.

Any signifcant framerate issues during multiplayer? I would think 4 players sucking up ghosts could slow the game down.

Ah - don't really have a handle on multi yet. No-one to play with, outside of setup Nintendo events. I can about poke through the options is about it.

I hope Nintendo gets it right now with distribution, I don't want to not be able to get it at launch because my spring break will be at that time and this is going to be my game

Jintor, how are the boss ghosts? I suspect they're less of a focus in this game than the first, but it looks like there's still quite a variety. I'd be especially interested to hear details on the
possessed stairway
and
possessed clock
bosses. Also, what's the boss of the
snow level
? And there are five mansions in all, correct? What is the theme of the final mansion, and is it a full-blown mansion like the other four?

I think you can do the scarescrap solo, so maybe there's an AI partner/bot option you can try?

How much content would you say is in the game? Roughly in terms of 'bang for your buck'. Would you say it's worth a full, day one purchase? I understand you haven't tried multiplayer, but in terms of single player.

Also, as a huge fan of atmospheric settings - how did the 3D improve or hamper that aspect?

What happened here? Nintendo ninjas get him?

I went to sleep, lol

Boss ghosts are rad as hell. They're... well, I just played Revengeance, so they're not that, obviously, but they're still fun. I don't know, there's not too much to them besides me just describing their attack patterns, and I think you might wanna work them out for yourself. As for the mansions...
The fifth mansion is basically a 'best-of' collection incorporating puzzle elements from the other mansions in the form of a cool haunted museum
.

How long is the game? And how replayable is it?

13 hours on my finished file, and if I could keep this hardware I would be trying to unlock everything. EVERYTHING. There's so much stuff I suspect I missed. Gems for every mansion and I didn't even find all the Boos.

Most definitely worth it.

3D is pretty good, but after a while I turned it off. I just can't handle it on the whole time... also, I was playing a lot on the train, so... but it looks pretty great and it always fits their artstyle.

Jintor, what was your favorite mansion? How many missions are in each, and how complex do the missions get? Can you save in the middle of them?
