Wii U Satisfaction Thread

I've got two questions in regards to the BC if anyone would be so kind.

1. I've heard that the colours were washed out in Wii mode, is this true, and if so has a full colour range option been added?
Yes they look slightly washed out and no they haven't fixed it. Honestly they need to fix the underscanning before even that. Having black bars around every side looks horrible.

I don't know the answer to the other question, so hopefully someone else can answer it. :)

Just got a gamepad sleeve and also a gamepad case.

Thing is I can now no longer charge my gamepad on the docking because of the sleeve.

So would you use the Sleeve or docking (non sleeve)?

Other option is to put on the sleeve when playing and remove it when charging.

Life is very complicated ya´know.

I ordered the PDP silicone case, and it fits on the cradle with no issues. They're cheap too, I paid $9.something for mine!

Yarp. What he said.

Damn, I already spent a lot on it. Should have checked first. It was like an impulse buy, I was only getting the screen protection. I must live with this now.

Well at least the case is nice and safe from the kids when the pad is fully charged.

unpatiently waiting for Lego City.

If you want to see the one I got, I posted a photo of it a few pages back.

Can't you return it?

Thinking about giving Runner 2 a go when it hits a sale. Demo seemed entertaining enough. By the end of this year, my Wii U is going to explode. I just know it.

I've had my Wii U for about three days now and just experienced my first hard-lock (it hit when I was exiting Miiverse).

Is this normal or should I be worried?

Edit: I had to unplug the system in order for it to turn off and I haven't tried re-booting it since.

2. Does it do any deinterlacing? Mega Man 9 was only 480i and I wouldn't be able to play it on my monitor, would the upscaling fix this?

I haven't noticed washing out on the games I've played, but I've never played those games on the original Wii so I have nothing to compare it to.

In my opinion, the games I've played so far (Super Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Raving Rabbids, and Super Paper Mario) look pretty good on the Wii mode.

Wish I had more friends to play Chasing Aurora :(

You should keep using it to see if it is a reoccurring problem. Edit: Yes, it's safe to do so.

Yep. Mine has been working fine for 3 months, but crashed 4 times in a row when I tried to use a Sandisk Cruzer "to test the USB stuff". It worked fine, but every time I tried to transfer something to it ; it jus tcrashed the whole system. Removed it after the 4 tries and no problems, heck no problems with Runner 2 crashing at the moment and just played a few stages.

In my video above, I cut out the part right after that where I tried to go back to the home screen and it completely froze. First time and I too had to unplug. Had it since launch.

Had that happen a couple of times, had my WiiU for around two months, hopefully the spring update will fix this.

I've noticed most of my freezes come from COD multiplayer. Interestingly enough, when it freezes, "connection interruption" is on my screen

Most of mine happen with Hulu, it freezes when I try to start the next episode from the ending credits. I had a few using the elevator in the Citadel of Mass Effect 3 (
Pre Cerberus invasion
) but i'm pretty sure those were game related.

Not hard crashes with out Wii U since the December patch. Nintendo Land was the only game that locked up on us prior to that, and we put in about 20 hours after the patch. Never had a ZombiU, or NSMBU crash. Our only issue was installing Wii Street U, where I had to pull the plug, delete the content and then installed with no issue.

Just set my Wii U up, and I keep getting error messages when navigating the e-shop. Sometimes I get an error saying "Could not display page", and it boots me back to the main Wii U menu. Sometimes the e-shop won't start at all, and I get an error saying "An unexpected error has occurred".

I managed to eventually download F-Zero, which is all I'm after for the time being. But this hardly bodes well for the future if this is going to be a regular thing.

Have you tried browsing the net? Were there issues while downloading?

according to the internet:
"It's possible to watch a video on YouTube on your TV while reading different tabs on the Wii U gamepad."

can someone please explain how this is done?

Using the browser, you go to youtube, press X to show the video on the TV, then just go to another tab on the gamepad.

I cannot even imagine what the Miiverse community for Earthbound is going to be like when the game is out in Japan. Western complaints EVERYWHERE.

This will be a good thing. They'll see we want the game and bring it over!

...

Bit OT here, but I just got home from Best Buy (where I picked up a CCP for $13!), and this guy kept trying to tell me that the Wii U pro controller was backwards compatible...we went back and forth for a minute, and he walked me over to a computer to prove it. He skims through the product page, while I stare at the ceiling.

"Oh, looks like it doesn't work with Wii."

"Yup."

Wonder how many folks he told this to...

Man, speaking of Youtube, I really don't understand how Google messed up that WiiU app so much. Its so easy to make a decent Youtube app for the dual screen setting, yet somehow they chose the worst possible interface for it.

I think accessing it from the browser makes the app obsolete

And that's why you should never ask Best Buy employees anything beyond "Hey, where are your ___?"

damn. the gamepad's touchscreen is sturdy as hell. I have no screen protector and I use it basicly contantly (in games and for drawing in miiverse). still not one mark or scratch.
it seems to be way more robust than the 3DS one

I will not get Zombi U, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect or Batman.

That said, I'm trying to leverage Target's B2G1 deal.

Help me fill out a group of three, satisfied Wii U owners!

I already own Mario.

Really, I'm trying to figure out whether or not LEGO City Undercover is actually good (filled with things to do, or not) and whether I'm getting Sonic or NFSMWU.

I wish Wii U had a JRPG-like epic. Something with a great story. But no, guess I'm waiting until Fall for the REALLY good games.

I was very satisfied by my Wii U until January (because of Land, Mario and Zombi that I loved, plus a couple of eshop titles) but then the Scribblenauts and Rayman February delay really disappointed me. If we add that other games (Nintendo's ones) still don't have a firm release date and that third parties are lacking (with the exception of Ubisoft that announced AC4 and WatchDogs), I'm surprised that the Satisfaction thread is still active.
Btw, I'm not too pessimist, because I think that once the games will come back (starting from Lego and MH this month) I'll be happy again

Just played the Wii U again at GameStop yesterday and tried out New Super Mario Bros. U and that was very fun, really getting flashbacks to the Supercom! Soundtrack were awesome but that one game isn't enough to convince me. Hopefully sometime later this year or next year, because there's a lot of interesting games coming and hopefully one more small price-drop.

Got my ass kicked in BO2 online with dual analog first, and then with Wiimote setup. Looks like I'll have to spend some time adjusting the controller settings before I'll start hitting anything... The online part of BO2 seems to be pretty solid.

My 16GB flashdrive was getting full with eShop goodness, so I just got myself a sparkly new 64GB one (25MB/s) in anticipation of NFS:MWU on the eShop. BTW, ain't it about time we got an OT for that game?

Do we know if Nintendo is going to create a Wii U to Wii U transfer app (similar to the 3DS)? I'm thinking of giving my black unit to my brother for his birthday and picking up a white Wii U for myself. I'm only going to install Animal Crossing Wii U to the internal storage (whenever it comes out) so it seems pointless to keep the black unit when I hate the color.

Get NBA 2K13 then -

the controls on the Wii U make a big difference, game can also be played on both screens at the same time !

black is no color :p

speaking of only 8GB internal storage. what if Nintendo releases more than 8GB in updates in the next 5-7 years?

Mm, I'm terrible at it (from the demo, anyways). Plus my roommate has it on 360, so I can play it any time... same reason I'm not getting AC3, Batman or ME3.
