Vanquish has one of the most exciting single player campaigns of this generation.
Uncharted is all about cover and those were some of the finest single-player campaigns this generation.
Well, 2 was. But w/e.
2 was, yes. 3 was the complete opposite.
Sorry, I always have to talk shit about U3. Still bitter over that game being a turd.
It's not a turd... it had a naff ending, sure, and the pacing was all over the place. But the beginning was very good, I thought their writing improved and it still looked gorgeous (not as good as U2, IMO, just because the deserts of North Africa aren't as visually exciting as Nepal was).
I don't see how you can go from loving U2 to despising U3. They aren't that different, the first is just more polished than the other. U2 was never teetering on the edge of being shit.
I could go on for days, but mostly it was the stuff like Drake surviving the sinking ship and ending up on shore where he started. Complete utter nonsense, for no regard for believability took me straight out of the game and the story. Everything was a set piece and nothing more, only to have tacked on story bullshit to get you to the next set piece. Rinse repeat.
Not sure what you mean by "story bullshit". You didn't like the writing? The characterisation? It wasn't any worse than in U2. No meathead villain, for one thing.
I don't think UC3 played all right, really.
Granted I played it pre-aiming patch (and have no desire to play it again), but it felt incredibly sluggish and hard to shoot. Drake somehow felt squirrely and tank-like at once in terms of actual movement.
There's a part near the end of the game that is just really, incredibly unfun. Took me about ten tries and the try I decided was going to be the last one was where an enemy teleported in to a fountain and I could just shoot him to death.
Those two missions Jeff played were short as hell. Is that how the entire campaign is?

Gotta have those soundtrack bonus cds, though. : (You're in the Giant Bomb thread, so I'll share Jeff's wisdom: DON'T PRE-ORDER.
DON'T PRE-ORDER EVER.
Oh man, I hope they haven't recorded the podcast yet.
Maybe EA should just come out at E3 this year and say OK, were starting full production on Mirrors Edge 2, The Road Rash, Burnout Paradise 2, Mutant League Football 2099, and Skate 4. Thatd turn it around for em, wouldnt it?
I know he's joking, but if spun right, HOW COULD THIS LOSE?!?
A year later when they've lost money on all of them.
I don't have volume because I'm in a computer lab, but giantbomb twitch stream is continuing to run and stream something: http://www.twitch.tv/giantbomb
Whats going on?
Oh, they also quicklooked Dead Space: Awakening while we weren't watching.
It's up on the twitch.tv archive (Brad & Patrick, 26:56, DEAD SPACE 3 SPOILERS).
EDIT: And seemingly, they've been removed from the archive.
EDIT 2: According to the 'coming up' ticker, the DS: Awakening and Alien Spidy QL's will be up tomorrow.

If only they were to address the extremely slow video download speeds and the lack of meaningful improvement on video search (still barely usable) and categorisation (heavily out of date and inconsistent): The new site is very disappointing so far.
I've actually gotten really huge speed increases.
I bought a new PCIE wireless card for my PC because I thought my USB WiFi card was why the speeds were so slow for video.
Then site update, boom, all troubles resolved.

It's pretty clear that, like Amazon hosting before (which was always blazing fast for me - excellent download speeds of up to 12 MB/s), Akamai (at least whatever service tier they are on, if there are even different ones) doesn't suit all their users: They either need to find a better CDN that is able to deliver bandwidth reliably worldwide or give users a choice.
Your opinion. I thought it was the bees knees.
