Giant Bomb Thread #4: A thread of perceived slights

The opening mission should have been Shepard helping one of Liara's teams get into this well preserved Prothean ruin where they find Javik and the plans for the catalyst. Bunch of shit happens, yadda, yadda, yadda. Turns out the catalyst is a massive, one time use mass rely that boosts the citadel 140,000 light years to the next galaxy.

There. I just wrote a better ME3 story while driving to work.

thanks, i missed it

archive, starts around 8:27

Watching this made me wonder what the standard for organizing and hosting a panel at PAX is, because if it exists this panel clearly was not even attempting to pursue it. Ryan's segment, if you can call it one, was the most bearable since he was most sincere about how inane his contribution was. Zero creativity, mindless chatter, trifling attempt at humor, and overall laziness. And what kind of person tries to unearth comedy out of tribute videos of some 80s child actor who died of a horrible disease? If I was in that audience I would have actively booed during most of the panel instead of partaking in obligatory tepid applause that they all were recipients of.

Just sayin...

sorry if it's been asked, but is the GB panel archived anywhere yet?

No, it does not exist anywhere online yet. It was just recorded (not streamed) so there is no Twitch archive to get it early. I guess nothing is done with the recording yet, so we might have to wait until mid-week for it to be processeed

they have GDC and that starts on Monday

But... this could be happening!!!

Bioshock Infinte (Jeff/Brad)
Agricultural Simulator Gold Edition (Vinny/Ryan)
Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel (Jeff/Ryan)
LEGO City Undercover (Drew/Vinny)
Monster Loves You! (Patrick/Vinny)
The Seed (Vinny/Brad)
Ultratron (Patrick/Brad)
Anodyne (Vinny/Jeff)
Papers, Please (Jeff/Patrick)

Keyser Soze's optimism is a welcome addition to this weekend in the Giant Bomb thread.

I honestly won't be surprised if we only end up with one or maybe two QLs. I wouldn't mind none if we got some great GDC podcasting.

Didn't they do Lego City already? Or was it not a QL?

so many jeff/vinny appearances, this would be a dream week.

No Bioshock review or QL?

It's 6:42AM on the west coast. I doubt they recorded something before leaving for PAX.

Not sure I understand the point of them going to GDC if there won't be real press events, and if they only podcast in the afternoon after the show closes. It's not like they're Gamasutra and are looking for material for some in depth analysis of the industry.

That list is really compelling, and hopefully they do all of them. However, I love their late night podcasts, which we can only get if they go to something like GDC

They get paid to go drink booze for free with devs down the street.

People will laugh at your comment, and defend the situation. But in all honesty it is poor.

The biggest game of the year so far and nothing. There really is no reason behind it. PAX isn't an excuse and neither is GDC.

The Gears of War:Judgement review managed to be uploaded on time, yet the God of War review is still MIA. Kinda says it all really. *

*note - this isn't intentionally highlighting a xbox preference, but instead the general apathy the site has towards timely, and structured content. One review is on time, one is late and one never appears.

I don't give a shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit about reviews and don't read any, not even GB, but I appreciate that they do not give a fuck about any game enough to drop what they're doin and throw an arbitray number out there. They're busy travellin and havin a good time. They'll play the game when they get to it, and put sumtin up when they get to it. Unless it's Ryan Davis doin the review. Then fuck that lazy guy and his late reviews.

Everyone who visits Giant Bomb knows that Bioshock is coming out. They're all capable of finding coverage of it elsewhere if they're so inclined. I imagine that your purchasing decision is already made, but if it really hinges on what Giant Bomb has to say about it the game will still exist when they give their impressions. Every other game side in existence rushes to cover the blockbuster of the week, put out as much content as they can before immediately forgetting it for the next release. Giant Bomb's coverage of games isn't perfect, but I'm incredibly glad they do something different.

Is the embargo for it even up yet?

I was going to ask why you didn't read the last two posts but then I saw the Rutgers avatar.. =/

Honestly it's their discussion on each podcast I look forward to, not some random 5 star rating from just one person who played it.

It was. Full Paragons who don't get to hear his reasons for changing his mind really missed out.

I didn't like the new voice actor for Mordin (he sounds just slightly off, it drives me nuts) but I thought that scene had the best acting in the game. I went Renegade and felt truly shitty about it, but I appreciated that the game could make me feel that and I know that the Paragon path wouldn't have had the same impact. Too bad that
it doesn't matter because Thane gets you the Salarian's support anyway, and of course the war assets are absolutely pointless too. I felt short changed by that, CD Projekt wouldn't have let you have your cake and eat it
.

The PAX panels are always awkward and just terrible all round, people just give a pass cus ya know the bomb squad is a likeable bunch of dudes.

Didn't most outlets not even get review copies until recently due to that "exclusive review" for ign? I personally figured they didn't get a copy until they were already gone for PAX...

Jeff got his copy almost 2 weeks ago like all the other outlets.
He played through most of the game by the time the ken interview was uploaded.
Just did not have time, before pax
