dat dark and gritty superman!
In the May issue of Total Film magazine, currently available on newsstands nationwide, writer David S. Goyer discusses the secrecy the team behind "Man of Steel" has maintained leading up to the film's June premiere in theaters. Here's an excerpt:
Its something Chris [Nolan] tried hard to do with the Batman films, said Goyer, who had script and/or story credits across The Dark Knight trilogy. Im genuinely pleased with how much secrecy weve been able to maintain.
Theres so much of the movie that people dont know, that hasnt been touched upon. The trailers just the tiniest, tiniest tip of the iceberg.
And on the subject of darkness, Goyer explained:
Relatable and realistic doesnt necessarily mean dark. I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight.
The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope.
