Holy shit.

The dust, the sunlight rays, the shadows, the ground, the rocks, the smoke, the fire.

jesus. Almost look like real life.

Give me 60fps on the PS4 and im satisfied with this.

KZ:SF will have a hard time next gen.

Interestingly, my most memorable SP experiences when playing FPS was that of the WW2 era. I would love to see a game that is intergenerational; the story spans generations, different eras and thus different art styles and weapons.

If you're happy with the same old crap for the next 7 years, good for you!
Me on the other hand I've been playing since the 80's so that level of superficiality does nothing for me anymore. I'm sure it's still possible to innovate in the FPS genre but there's nothing to see here except smoke shadows. Woohoo!

must not quote avatar. Oh the irony...

Nah, it'll be fine:

Don't need to wrack your brain to come up with interesting gameplay scenarios other than just forcing a player through killrooms/pockets of enemies/setpieces (cross-posting from the other thread): Trailer left me feeling pretty much the same as I did towards the new Killzone: visuals are fuckin' impressive but gameplay hasn't evolve AT ALL. Show me smart enemy AI, working together in teams to eliminate you (for eg. one providing suppressive fire and another navigating through buildings and obstacles, flanking to get to you and your teammates). Show me the ability to defeat them using physics (fuckin hell it's a construction site, howabout letting me shoot down a pile hanging off a crane so that it drops on unsuspecting enemies. Or let a stack of cement pipes loose and roll into them)

AND IF THEY did that with the AI, people would just shout SCRIPTED, FIXED etc, just look at the The last of us forums...

It looks very good graphically, some parts were pretty amazing like the destruction of that building/seeing you fall through.

Personally I found KZ:SF a lot more impressive, mainly due to the artstyle, but this looked pretty awesome and I really only care about the MP.

Just watched for the first time. This was after seeing some negative comments about it.

Man people will bitch about anything. Truthfully I don't care for single player in games like BF or CoD. Multiplayer is the real meat of these games. However it seems Dice has a pretty damn good handle on singleplayer now. This game is extremely impressive from a technical stand point. Games like this and Killzone have me really excited for this fall for finally get a nice jump in technical quality. Its amazing how people have a hard time appreciating what it must have taken to put together that insanely epic demo. There are so many little details that were given attention to that you simply do not see anywhere else. The number of effects going on was extremely impressive as well. And I can see they are really trying at making the characters in the story have some depth. Sure its another military shooter, and you hear a lot of commands and military type jokes, but they seem to be doing a pretty good job so far.

The mechanics certainly look to be near identical to BF3, but what else would we expect? People seemed to enjoy the hell out of that game, including myself and it stands on its own in comparison to other shooters. Why fix what isn't broken?

That explosion after he spotted that group and the chopper flew by, and that building collapsing. Good god that shit was impressive. I'm just happy that there are developers out there like Dice who enjoy pushing things a step farther.

Shallow and generic. The only good thing is the visuals, and as a PC gamer I have been having photo-realistic games since 2007.

Games are going to be more and more generic. With the current development costs, don't expect any kind of innovation from AAA titles.

I'm willing to bet that it will be 1080p 30fps on the PS4. Would love to be wrong, though.

Technically really impressive. Did not like eneny animations when hit. I'd like the gun model to have more animation, i can't stand walking around with the gun in the same position for minutes, expecially when moving around in houses.

Gameplay wise, it's really going down the cod route. I'd prefer something else but i can't really blame the for that, it works saleswise.

All in for Day 1. Hopefully the next-gen consoles look as good or else I'm going with the PC version again.

BF3 SP was mediocre in terms of plot and set pieces, but it looked so damn purty. BF4 looks like a super model in comparison, and hopefully there's a whole lot more of that open area stuff with your squad, which reminded me a little of BC1. Pressing 'F' to cut a leg was as exciting as flying a jet and only being allowed to aim. :P Less linear scripting please.

As for it being an SP reveal and not multiplayer, that's the way it goes I guess. If they had revealed multiplayer, no one would give a single crap about SP. I know the first time I saw the Caspian Border trailer, I forgot all about that Earthquake stuff in Iran. Can't wait to see the equivalent of that trailer for BF4.

KZ:SF will have a hard time next gen.

Typical this-gen gamer comment. There was a time when we purchased games because of the gameplay. Now we have kids buying games just to look at them. Don't get me wrong, graphics are important, but the gameplay will always matter more than anything else. You act as if Battlefield 4 will be the worlds greatest game just because it looks good.

It didn't look substantially better than BF3. Granted, I've only ever played the game on PC, but the visuals definitely aren't such a step up from Battlefield 3 that the game won't run fine on current gen consoles. They'd just have to tone down the lighting, the characters' character models, and most of those ridiculous particles and chunks bursting out of every explosion and broken wall.

Regardless, I'm not buying the game solely because of that lens flare. Seriously, I would totally get it if it didn't have lens flare, but DICE would rather perpetuate that stupid fucking unrealistic blinding anti-fun wow-factor-wore-off-3-years-ago can't-see-a-fucking-thing bullshit.

Whoever thought of that needs to get banned from the games industry so he can get his new life started as JJ Abrams' personal fellatio servant.

Killzone looks better in terms of art direction.

Graphically, BF4 has way more going on there. So much for exclusivity graphical magic sauce.

I've been gaming probably longer than you been alive. Nowadays I like to turn my game on and hit F12 from time to time to get dem pics. Nothing wrong with that. At the same time I enjoy the hell out of games like Binding of Isaac or Super House of Dead Ninjas, so it's not all about pretty graphics with me, but I like to see them from games that have $100,000,000 budgets.

Typical dumbass comment.

Where did I say that graphics is everything?

KZ:SF and BF4 will obviously go head to head in the graphics department in console space early next gen.

You act as if every type of gameplay has already been shown in this 17min "Single Player" video.

But w/e, checking up on your post history tells me that I should not take ypu seriously. lol

Who cares what people would think; it would be a refreshing change for a blockbuster shooter. LoU is a game that prides itself on non-scripted moments so of course the bulk of the criticism would focus on that.

But yeah, I do find that KillzoneSF looking better mainly because of its futuristic artstyle.

The game looks great, but I dont really care too much about the single player. Its kinda like a glorified tech demo of what the game can do when there arent other humans causing mayhem..

MP all the way with BF games.

Could we kindly refrain from comparing two unfinished games and one of them running on 7990?

So because its running on a 7990 at whatever frame rate. It means you need that much power to run the game?

Oh no.... Its just amd pushing their latest card.

I know it is as much about showing off the game as marketing their latest and greatest. However, given the next gen console versions are a no show, the comparison comes off as incomplete apples to incomplete oranges.

Well I'm one of those crazy people that really liked the SP of BF3 so I'm looking forward to this. I've also put over 300 hours into the multi and I trust Dice to make a good game so I'm hyped. I was just talking to my friends during some End Game play and we all agreed that games could keep looking just as good as BF3 and we would be happy.

Looks like there are some improvements here and there, but yes still looks like BF3 quite a bit, and I don't care. Looks like possibly a new spotting mechanic, perhaps some time based thing, but could be just for single player. I'm sure we will get some "Battlefield Moments" trailers in time and I can wait. I'll be getting it along with premium because I love me some battlefield.

Jeebus, GAF. Read the first page of the thread and the last. You MFers are IMPOSSIBLE to please. Looks amazing. And if at 60 fps as promised? GTFO.

I'm impressed but not shocked at all that there is nothing really new being shown here. They've got their formula for success and I think everyone pretty much knows how the multiplayer is going to go and everyone is going to buy it for an awesome MP experience.

I assume they are trying to draw in those outlying customers who want a more complete package in terms of a solid MP experience and a well fleshed out SP campaign.

I really hope that they put more emphasis on destructible environments. I loved that aspect of BC2. You could be in the middle of a fire fight and not feel safe ANYWHERE. It kept the tension high and kept you on your toes the whole time and that made the combat much more engaging to me. I can live with a cliched story, QTE's and cut scenes provided that the sequences are really well executed and don't punish me too severely for straying off the scripted path (there was one sequence in BF3 where you have to sneak up behind a guy and sliently take him out and if you took too long, you just instantly dropped dead to the ground)

Horrific idea.

clearly you have spent zero time with a rifle. Flip to side magnifiers and offset irons offer a tremendous amount of flexibility allowing you to quickly adapt to various shooting situations.

I've used a similar eotech setup like this at our range and it's very fun to use, albeit a bit out of my budget right now.

i think it looks good much better than anything CoD. The whole chaos and noise reminds me of the killzone cgi. Give Dice some credit for showing gameplay, must have been frustrating for them to read the negativity around Bf4 reveal.

Though i dont see myself completing the sp campaign, never did with bf3.
I just hope bf4 mp feels better than bf3. I put a lot of hours into bf3 mp but it didnt draw me in wanting to come back for more. It is just that i couldnt find a better fps mp for pc these days.

I love everything about this video except the animation. Is it me, or was the animation in BF3 smoother?
I was looking for the awesome "vault over an object" animation but didn't see it. :( Looks like they're still rendering legs though, please DICE don't take away that body awareness that I loved from BF3.

As far as this footage, the game definitely looks very nice. But Battlefield SP campaigns have fully embraced the over the top Hollywood style set pieces that seems like it'll be scripted as hell. The MP I'm sure will be awesome though.

What are the chances this'll run at 60fps on PS4? I think maybe 1080p/60fps would be too much? Even if it's 1080p at 30fps, I'm hoping that with the PS4 they'll have enough headroom where the game will never dip under 30 even with all the chaos happening.

Ehhhhh, the latter portion of this footage is just a bunch of noise and the player watching stuff happen. Really disappointing that they have this amazing sound design and super solid core mechanics, but all they're making is another cinematic mess. The most standard part of this video with the shootout in the desert area was the most interesting part if only for some flanking options and, again, that marvelous DICE sound. The rest was just graphics whore set dressing.

I agree. I would kill to have weapon sounds as good as these in singelplayer focused game like Half-Life or Crysis. It's a shame DICE can't make a decent SP campaign since the first Bad Company

Ugh, here we go. The typical children ragereply; full of insults, misspells and "lol's". I should have seen that coming. Please look at your own previous post; it'll answer your first question. And I never claimed that every type of gameplay has been shown. You're just making things up. As for your last statement -- well, that's just pathetic. Please, enlighten me. Why shouldn't you take me seriously? What fascinated you when searching through my post history?

I like how NPCs and enemies AI reacts to the directional sound of hits.It seems very natural.
I'm not sure if it's scripted or not but in the trailer we see NPCs first looking at the direction of the hit then they realize about the broken glass and they run away in a very realistical way. Also the guy on the tank turns around when he hears a shot behind him.

the majority of the negative posts seem to be that it was focused on the sp and not mp and i agree with that it was a dumb move should of gave us a rad mp trailer but im sure theyll follow up soon with one

I wonder if the comparable PC GPU to the PS4 can run BF3 @ Ultra @1080/60.

Just watched the trailer.

I still stand by my "Xbox 1.5" comment. The visuals didn't really phase me. Only the scene where they had to cut off the guy's leg sort of opened my eyes.

I'm also not a fan of whatever storytelling they're doing. It's beyond Hollywood lameness than feeling like a war in my eyes.

It was fun the first time COD did it but now it's a tired out trope when everyone does it.

Leaks from China have already confirmed it will be 1080p/60fps on next gen consoles.

awesome use of music... they did a better job with this than I was anticipating.

I have my own personal issues with Battlefield 4, but I respect the way they're handling it so far at least.
