I expect the PS4 version to look and/or run better, but the XO version to have bigger MP maps, more players etc. At least if the dedicated servers thing is true, but we don't know yet. If they look/run the same, something is afoul because the PS4 has a very easily accessible and apparent hardware advantage. Not a small one either.

advantage yes mostly GPU (and in case you were wondering I don not believe GPU Down clock ;) )

but CPU is the same in both machines for all intents and purposes (beyond customizations)

so there could be many games where the cpu is a factor and GPU less so

edit:
also yes agree with you that the dedicated servers may come into play in many of these big MP games

the cloud is more than running MP host on a dedicated server though it scales and allows non latency compute to be taken as needed from several servers to compute parts of game, but you know that already :)

This isn't really true. Both the BF3 and BC2 betas were actually quite clearly betas. BF3 beta was plagued with bugs and performance problems, and the BC2 beta was very unoptimized.

Dunno 'bout the BC2 PC beta, but the BF3 beta build was months-old when it became available.

I hope the opposite. I hope they don't bring back the disease that Metro was. Nothing but full of grenade, rpg, and c4 spammers all trying to get to 100 colonel in an enclosed map that should be ashamed to be called a Battlefield map.

Indeed.

people stats padded on that map though. That's why it was liked.

the DLC maps were much better than vanilla, sadly people doesnt seem to be talking about them.

The DLC turned a merely decent BF iteration into the best game of this gen. Fact.

I heard they outsourced the DLC maps. I hope that team is working on the base maps for BF4.

Not exactly a game I would buy or play, but I must say that was visually impressive. I was on the edge of my seat the whole video, haha.

There is perhaps a slight chance that DICE could pull off a decent SP.

Very small chance, mind you, given their track record.

Metro 64 is the equivalent of Nuketown in Call of Duty. It's a shitty map that everyone is playing because :

-You can rack up insane amount of points.
-There is no pauses in-between bursts of action. It's constant move and shoot.
-Vehicle play is very limited and not deep enough to provide an experience on it's own.

If so, then the next Battlefield will have less destruction, smaller tunnels, and limited flanking options.

I rather hope that DICE goes back to their roots than create small meat-grinders and staple them as a Battlefield map.

To be fair, even in the BF2 days Karkand 24/7 Infantry only was the most played map. The lowest common denominator stuff has always been the most popular :(

I hate metro.

Nice. Desperately hoping for 60fps on the PS4.

Me too, fps's just feel so much better at 60 fps. Also, I hope vehicle combat is alot more interesting this time around; The vehicle combat really let me down in 3, especially considering how integral it was to the game and how polished infantry combat was in comparison.

Too much lock on bullshit in BF3. Too much. Not fun.

Remember the old days when you actually had to land a shot/rocket? smh...

I completely quit BF3 when they took out below radar. WTF kinda BS is that.
It was a nice trade off when you could fly low and not be locked on, because you were
more vulnerable to stray rockets, could be shot out of the cockpit, and more prone to hitting
trees and poles.

Plus your line of sight is limited.

I hate lock on for all the vehicles, but yeah it especially sucks for choppers now.

I remember back in BC2 I gave DICE the solution for OP choppers... let them take some damage from small arms fire.

Simple.

They never did it. Not until (and only for) Vietnam and then they went completely the other way with it... Huey was made of paper, you could kill it with an AK mag and a couple rounds from your pistol.

DICE is seriously retarded sometimes.

Sorry if this has been gone over but it's a 43 page thread, is this This gen, next gen or cross gen? Cross gen I think seems likely as it looks a bit better than what we can get now but not really that great to be "NEXT GEN!!!11" but you never know with this stuff.

PC/XB1/PS4/PS3/360.

GPU today IS the factor. That's the meat of all you do. Plus the Xbox is using less cores for gaming and instead for os. Getting 64 players up on both of these machines shouldn't be a problem dedicated server or not.

Here is, I suppose, one of the rigs they'll be using to run BF4 at E3. Might be for the 64 player show floor area or the stage demo, not sure. Looks like a beast either way.
