just received the ebgames (gamestop) BF4 pre-order offer.

they are giving the bonus content in their standard edition... so orign is asking you guys 10$ for beta access...

fuck that origin...

+ ebgames give a pair of real battlefield 4 dog tags

By the way, that really looked like Michelle Yeoh at the end.

I wonder if they are taking a leaf from Ubisoft and using their voice actors to define the physical appearance of the characters? I wouldn't say Irish was out and a 100% Michael K Williams, but he's pretty close.

I wonder if the "suppress" button is purely contextual or an actual game mechanic. I thought it was a mechanic but he uses it to tell his mates to suppress and then the chopper to suppress, so I don't know.

DICE had lots of smoke and mirrors with BF3. I've been conditioned to not even believe the destruction in this trailer is representative of what the engine can do--you just can't tell.

Even if they "do" confirm it, it can still be BS. I remember when Demize pointed out that you can destroy the Caspian Border radio tower. Oh wait, you can't! Wait, soon you will be able to--within the last 30 seconds of the round.

But it's cool, I'm over it.

I'm not, I'm still salty about that.

They've already been doing this in all the Dead Space games.

Why do they insist on showing single player? The color palette is ridiculously drab and looks absolutely awful artistically, especially because Bioshock Infinite just came out. Aside from that, single player just defies the whole point of multiplayer. This is just boring, scripted repetition with rigid AI teammates, both of which are the opposite of what multiplayer is for. Constantly using Battlefield as a technical showcase rather than showing us the scale and ambition of the multiplayer, which is what would ACTUALLY be impressive rather than showing their amazing ability to have gray buildings fall onto gray dirt while gray soldiers shoot gray guns at each other under a gray sky. I'm not interested in Battlefield and this isn't doing anything to change that.

The single player portion sells the dream!

DICE previews single player so much cause its what sells the BF dream!!
Along with a list of bullet points, ur all set.
-BF4 on Frostbite 3.0 ALL NEW!!
-Enhanced Destruction 4.0!!
-Bigger maps than ever before!!
-More real/emo campaign this time that plays like MP, sorta..
-64 players on consoles this time around??!
-BETA Details coming shortly, stick around!!

All together it paints a pretty picture that might not be the same using MP footage.
So it takes a while to get MP footage :(

Don't need to wrack your brain to come up with interesting gameplay scenarios other than just forcing a player through killrooms/pockets of enemies/setpieces (cross-posting from the other thread): Trailer left me feeling pretty much the same as I did towards the new Killzone: visuals are fuckin' impressive but gameplay hasn't evolve AT ALL. Show me smart enemy AI, working together in teams to eliminate you (for eg. one providing suppressive fire and another navigating through buildings and obstacles, flanking to get to you and your teammates). Show me the ability to defeat them using physics (fuckin hell it's a construction site, howabout letting me shoot down a pile hanging off a crane so that it drops on unsuspecting enemies. Or let a stack of cement pipes loose and roll into them)

I've been wanting to have a fully-interactive environment for years, but there has to be a reason we haven't seen it yet.

you do cinematic set pieces - it makes trailers more impressive and is great for stage shows and first impressions. it sucks for replay value, and it sucks for the interactive gaming.

because your interacting with an on rails experience.

Even when you get choices like - go through house and knife and stealth people or take underground sewer system and kill everything, type A and B choices, it still feels very.. black hawk downish.

which is not a bad thing at all. I've just seen stuff like this many times before. to me it didnt sound like it had that umpf that firing guns should have, and it was more urban middle eastern areas with even more russian type terrorists. It's quite boring to me.

But it looks impressive. But that couldnt save BF3s campaign.

Hmm, that's interesting. So the beta thing is the only pull from Origin, and that's if you're not already a BF3 Premium user or you bought MoH. EA gotta step up with their Origin off that's for sure.

I hate their obsession with that terrible lighting, there is constantly light flashing in your face its so annoying. Even in the car underwater the light from the car is shinning right in your face. Whenever you get hit the screen gets blurry and shakes makes it really hard to play when you cant see anything and the camera is constantly moving from it. Again annoying, way overdone. Just looked up bfbc2 gameplay to compare and its not even close this is so jarring compared to it. Not only is it annoying and inhibits gameplay this stuff is headache enducing, extremely dissapointed.

Animations of the characters looked good at some points though. That one soldiers face looked really good, the other guy in the front seat.

I loved bc2, hated bf3 and this just looks like bf3.5. Not looking good so far.

I'm not the target audience for these type of military shooter, but I will say that it sure looks nice. Also that underwater opening and that song, so good!

I'm just thankful suppression is gone.

Flinch is still there and ridiculous, but suppression literally made your shots not go where you intend. Horrible mechanic.

that was and still is rumor hope its true but next week after my trip ill be preordering the delux edition anyway

At least wait for some competition and deals from Amazon and GMG.

I was able to get BF3 for $32, might as well wait. No point in pre-ordering now especially since we know almost nothing about the game.

Did anybody notice that the backwash from the chopper might have affected the smoke, I don't know if I was seeing things or not I tried to watch the video Numerous times but it's kind hard to tell sometimes it appears that it is affecting it sometimes it appears that it's not

BF 3's story was one of the worst pieces of shit I have ever played. Never have I ever almost fallen asleep during a FPS story. They should stick to Bad Company for the storyline

oh sweet so its confirmed then

and other shooters isnt scripted? People need to calm down and realize every fps shooter is scripted. How can Killzone for PS4 get so much praise when it is scripted as well.

Single player looks good, though I have my doubts about the story. Looks like it'll be more of the same if you've played BF3's single player. Still wondering what they improved on to call it a Frostbite 3 though.

All I care is about how good multiplayer maps will be and what new features will be included.

I liked the SP in BF3, but I will admit it wasn't anything to shine about, other than graphics display. I don't mind linear FPS though and I guess I'm cool with it being "generic" if you will. It's a game I'll purchase for MP only. The SP campaign is just a bonus to me so it doesn't affect me either way, you know?

Favorite part of the trailer?

"Is he dead!?"

No! He just passed out. You're a combat life saver, you should know this Pat!"

"It was like a 3 hour course!"

As a former military member, that made me chuckle. Damn SABC.

Might want to calm down. This was obviously shown from a high end PC with various action-y parts to get people hyped. Killzone is a first wave next gen game. Not even comparable.

me too!! I was a medic back in the day

This is staggering to me. From Amazon top sellers:

I just hope these people don't plan to buy next gen consoles.
