Well, last time I was on Xbox Live, which was admittedly almost 2 years ago (Gears 3 launch), everyone was just in party chat and no one talked in game. I'd get maybe one game in 5 where a single person talked on their mic.

Not sure how it will play out with PS4 though.

Yeah, this is something that REALLY bothers me on PS3. There's no system-level mute option and tons of games don't allow you to mute people at all.

A mic in every box doesn't mean you need to use it, and it doesnt preclude you from muting other people. People used this as an excuse to say having one with every 360 was a bad thing, and it was just as dumb then.

Personally, I think this is the best news ever. Every time I played PS3 online someone had a terrible mic. This will help standardize it a bit and also get more people chatting, which I prefer. Multiplayer gaming is about being social and working together. Not sure why everyone on GAF hates it so much.

MS saved pennies by not including an hdmi cable and by securing the USB port cover with a paper clip spring (mine broke the first time I pressed it to open)
An hdmi cable is literally a cat5 ethernet cable with a different connector, it costs nothing.

PS4 to cut cost by pennies by not including cd playback support

400 dollar gpus will come with fans with ring bearings, while a decent ball bearing costs pennies extra.

It's not comparable though. Sony doesn't want to play second fiddle to the Xbox in online gaming. Including a headset in every console is a good message to send online gamers.

I had a similar worry with the Turtle Beach set I just purchased. I picked up the 2yr warranty just incase there's an issue with PS4 compatibility.

It means when two people swear at you from two different sides, you'll hear them w/o any distortion. Add in more players and it's only a single swear word at a time in terms of clarity.

The important thing is the analog headset jack on the controller. If you don't like the headset buy a better one.

As someone who plays online primarily with randoms I don't really consider this good news.

Time to build up that friends list, or join a BIG gaming clan that you can always play with a good group of peeps.... either that, or just hit "MUTE ALL" that is my favorite thing to do in CoD games... This saves me soo many time from listening to some suburban kid busting out his own rymes to Lil' Wayne so loud, it's poppin' the zits on his own pimply, ugly face..
