I don't even think it's that bad if only his head would be smaller. I don't know why they're making the heads so big lately.
It was the same problem with Fennekin. If you look at the fanart where his head is decently sized, he's amazing. But the games don't use fanart
yeah, this is my main problem with it. the head is MASSIVE. i don't think i would mind it if it was smaller.
Are we sure that this isn't an elaborate hoax/a fan's educated guess based on the assumption Mewtwo may receive a new form?
I found this picture on Bulbagarden's forums about the new Movie.
And it appears that it may be a fake anyways if what this poster says is true (that's based on another poster from Tumblr).
So I'm not sure, take all this with a grain of salt I guess. I do like the new form, but it won't mean much if this is all just a late April Fool's fake.

Yes, they've used assets from the poster already. We've had that poster for the last month, not just from that fair. However, we've seen them use, move and replace assets for posters and so forth before so it's not a valid indicator either way

But then again, it is a "leak" so it goes both ways. Just have to wait on the official announcement. Maybe Pokemon Smash will have info on Mewtwo.

If it is on Smash, then I believe it'll be the bit Masuda is holding rather than the new Pokémon there

Wouldn't it be great if this new Mewtwo form was meant to be a very "lightweight" and "speedy" version of himself, similar to Deoxys' speed form? It would kinda make sense since the main Genesect is supposed to be super fast with Extreme Speed. Plus, maybe it could give Mewtwo a secondary typing to help counteract one of Genesect's types.
Very true, I'm sure he would be the one to present any additional details on Mewtwo if he (Mewtwo) did appear in the episode, but like some people have said, what if it's not really "three" different Pokemon? But maybe one, or two (with Mewtwo included). Anything's possible at the moment with this "new" Mewtwo until things are confirmed.
That Mewtwo doodle was drawn by PurpleKecleon as a direct reaction to this very Mewtwo "leak". There's nothing worth going off that image, she's just a very talented artist.
She also drew the fake Jynx evolution, which she wanted to be real.
HA! So nothing has been disproved then. The fan art was based on the alleged leak. In other words, the leak can still be true. I kind of hope it is, to be honest. Everything always looks shit in the anime, but I bet the Sugimori art, at the right angle, could look amazing.
You guys do know the Keldeo movie had two of the same posters just with Keldeo changed and some the characters on the poster moved around a bit?

I guess so, I do want this Mewtwo form to happen. It's a really sleek and great design based on an old Pokemon. It would be like the real life version of that Gen 1 Charizard redesigned as a Gen 4 or 5 Pokemon, except this Mewtwo is great and not really overdesigned.
I actually like this new Mewtwo, that fanart reminds me a little of Link.

Mewtwo, with nearly 20 years of nostalgic appeal? Deserves more than a background presence. Hell they could sell the entire movie on him.

Hmm now that I think about it, it seems like people seem to miss a lot of details by looking at that terrible scan.

Assuming it's real, here's what I see, aside from the obvious differences:
1: Eye color change from purple to red.
2: Given the position of the head thing, it seems to be an overgrowth of its brain stem thing.
3: The football shoulder pad looking armor is gone.
All these things suggest a focus on more physical power, and possibly suggest a connection to the Berserk Gene... perhaps this forme change can be gotten by splicing the Berserk Gene back into Mewtwo (but then again where did it originally come from, and why was it at the entrance to the cave originally?), tying into the suggested genetic themes of XY.
From the games' perspective, Mewtwo has to come back, being the poster boy of genetic experimentation. If this forme is real (if it even is a forme - could be an evolution, but that'd be crazy @_@) then I can see why it'd happen.
I think that mewtwo form looks ugly and hope it's fake. I thought maybe it might be real because mewtwo might need a new form to give it an advantage over genesect for the movie, psychic/fire or psychic/flying, but then I looked up genesect on smogon and mewtwo is already an effective counter for genesect because it can outrun it and hit it with a fire move, so fuck that

Well, like I said based on my assumption from looking at the new Mewtwo, I take it that it can be a type of "speed" related form. He looks a lot more agile and stuff. Plus the movie is about a Genesect with Extreme Speed, so maybe my assumption wouldn't be too far off??

A bit off topic question: Are we expecting the new Pokémon to be mostly evolutions/pre-evolutions of existing Pokémon?
I'm hoping that most are original. B/W's blast of all new Pokémon felt way more fresh and exciting to me than D/P/Pt's heavy presence of evos of existing Pokémon. I'm totally down for a good balance of the two (slightly in favor of the original evolutionary sets) a la G/S/C.
Regardless, new Pokémon are new Pokémon, but I'm hoping the majority are original evo lines.

I hope there's not that many evolutions. I like 3-stage evolutions and gens we get a lot of them tend to be short on original ones.
I would recommend Black/White 1 or Heart Gold/Soul Silver. BW is almost like a reset for the series, and HGSS is really amazing version of the series roots.
Literally knowing nothing beyond that you collect monsters to fight, could you recommend one over the other? Reset or Roots...ain't gonna make much difference to a noob, ya know?

Looks less about physical power and more about special. If he was physical he would probably be more muscular instead of less.
I think Black/White are the better games.
If you want a phenomenal remake to one of the best Pokemon games of all time, Get HS/SS
If you want to indulge in some of the refined gameplay mechanics of the new series, Get B/W
I say if you want best of both worlds, Get B2/W2. Old pokemon and New all wrapped in one package
EDIT: No hard details yet but Id bet money that B2/W2 will have more compatibility in trading pokemon to X and Y than any other version

Go with BW. You're limited to 150 monsters in the main story, but it opens up after that. I feel like it's a better intro to the series than HGSS for sure.
Just wait for this one, honestly. I was that way when BW2 came out, and I enjoyed those, but I had no urge to play 2 Pokemon titles in one year. One game goes a long way.

In any case, more power of some kind. Also, I don't think the muscular thing holds *too* much - look at Deoxys Attack Forme vs. Normal Forme, for instance:
The upper body smooths out, losing the armor-like thing (which I only noticed a few minutes ago
), and he gains a lot of spikiness accordingly.HG/SS is my favorite Pokemon game, but also a sequel to a story you haven't experienced. Black/White is the best current choice for a newcomer, hands down. And if you like it enough that you have a craving for more before X/Y happens, B2/W2 are already right there.

To complete what was shown in your old movie posters, I'll say that the Mewtwo event (announced in the leaked poster) is official for Japan since about a week. It'll start in June.
I would suggest that they go back even further if they gain an interest in breeding.
Not really. The breeding mechanics only get worse the farther back you go. If you're after certain Pokemon then just trade for them.

Definitely play Black and White before B2W2.
I dissagree, when your looking for a pokemon with a specific move, because the same pokemon this gen cannot learn that move. And no is one trading it, let alone with that move.
It gets hard, unless I can do it myself.
Also you can get like a bunch of legendarily as bargaining chips.
