Hillary Clinton announces 2008 Presidential Bid

Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton launched her run for the White House Saturday by setting up an exploratory committee to test opinions and raise money. "I'm in. And I'm in to win," she wrote on her Web site. "I believe that together we can bring the leadership that this country needs." Her move came days after Sen. Barack Obama began his run.

Looks like all that speculation can now become analysis.

I can see her winning the Democratic nomination with all of the in party support she is going to get, but losing badly if the Republicans can come up with any semi decent moderate candidate.

I hope Democrats go with someone else.
We desperately need to break out of this Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton partisan-extreme cycle. We need someone fresh.

She can definately win. She's get a huge part of the women's vote, Dem or Con, and will garner many votes from those who supported Clinton.

I just don't see Bill Clinton being the chaperone. Former President as First Husband. :lol

i'm all for putting a woman in charge of the world, but i really don't think hilary's approaching this issue in the right way.

i mean, wtf is this shit? i want an efficient, serious, cold leader that runs the country with a leather whip, not my mum chatting with her friends and throwing tupperware parties.

the whole "oh hello there i want to chat with you in your living room" approach is just wrong, imo. i just can't picture the woman in that bloody talk show as the president of the us.

Germany, England, Chile, Liberia, and others I'm forgetting have or had woman leaders before... it's about time we had one. Go Hillary! (though personally I'm hoping Obama gets the nomination)

It's a big if, considering Giuliani's run is in doubt and McCain's support has dried up.

Pharoah Monch prophesized this years ago in "Last Days"

Also the scum of the earth would be sent to live mars

Obama for President and Hillary for Vice-President or vice versa is the way to go. :)

Ugh, no. Hilary shouldn't be anywhere NEAR the White House.

Obama, on the other hand..

The way the approval ratings are these days, any democratic could win.
Anyways, obama over hillary for me.

If she wins a core reason will be because Bill Clinton will be campaigning like mad and be the face of the campaign.

Bill Clinton is her ultimate weapon.

Oh and
Obama>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hillary

Obama looks like he would be a badass president. And i'm not even democrat. Hilary on the other hand. Well i'd have to move out of the country if we ever voted her in.

Maybe watching too much 24 has skewed my view on how cool it would be to have our first black president in office.

Obama should win just because he reminds me of that dude that was president on 24, and is now on the Unit.

If Obama got up there and went "I say **** you, Jobu", he would be my hero for life.

If Obama doesn't run, and Hiliary signs a sworn statement saying that while she will be the President officially, Bill will actually be the one making atleast 90% of the decisions while she is in office, I will vote for her.

Hehe, I'm English but was still got overly excited by the news. I love Hillary, but I guess I'm more in love with the idea of there being a first female president who similarly was a first lady years before. But apart from that I do agree with what she stands for, from what limited stuff I know as an Englishman. I hope she wins! :D

While I would prefer a democrat winning, Hilary scares the **** out of me and should not be elected under any circumstances.

As a Brit I think this race is going to be great for someone like me who isn't affected by it (well not much at all).

Hilary to win. You heard it here first.

I think this would be the most effective way to challenge Hiliary on the Democratic side without having give the GOP ammo that they could/would use in the Presidential election. Personally, I think she is to polarizing to be the one.

I can't stand Hillary or her politics, but it would be cool to have a woman president. The Democrats would be much more likely to get my vote with Obama though.

Yeah, Thatcher did a great job for us here in Britain. In terms of completely ****ing over the working man, destroying our industry, sending us to a pointless war and privatising everything.

Still, Bush already did all of that for you, so you should be OK with Hilary.

He announced his run on tuesday.

He set up an exploratory committee Tuesday; he isn't making his official annoucement until Febuary 10th. Yeah its likely he'll run, but there have been people formed an e.c. and ultimately didn't run.

What bothers me this upcomming election is the Democrats (Clinton, Obama) will likely be more conservative than the Republicans.

:lol :lol :lol What???? :lol :lol :lol

A simple glance at their voting records should disabuse you of that notion.

The leading dems seem to be more openly Christian than the leading republicans may be what he is getting at.

Edit: Do you still feel Kerry as a shot at the nomination Incognito? You had that view a few months ago

I really don't see how that's the case. Unless you're swayed by rhetoric. I mean, more openly Christian than Brownback? Dude just spent a few nights in a jail cell to showcase his conservative christian bona-fides...

I think what he meant is that by there being a legitimate black and woman canidate for the first time, that they could go out of their way to not seem too liberal, thus coming off more conservative.

But Obama, if you listen to his lectures, isn't as liberal as some make him seem, anyway.

Obama votes very liberal but he can talk like a moderate. Very good and powerful combination.

I don't know; I'd place him 4th right now. He actually moved up the polls recently, somehow. He has the most money even after doling out $18million for the 2006 midterms. His email list of supporters is absolutely unreal, also.

The only thing I'm dreading about Obama running is the fact that I will likely lose all faith in my country. America voted for Bush due to his charm, morales, and family values etc.. even though hes an idiot. Obama is one of the smartest and logical people I've ever seen and would ****ing obliterate everyone in debates, yet there are some who won't vote for him no matter what.

But its going to be great. Hliary, Edwards, and Obama duking it out for the democratic bid is going to be better than the actua presidential election.

This is like the thread for Obama. She did not announce her bid, but she did set up an exploratory committee.

may be it's time for the US to have a woman president, as the most powerful democracy in the world. india, pakistan, bangladesh, phillipines...all have/had female presidents already.
