New FFXIII Info From 1up.com

Some additions:

- they borrow the classic transforming sound from Transformers
- Ifrit = truck
- Ramuh = sports car
- Leviathan = speed boat
- Phoenix = airplane
- in their vehicle modes, along with Shiva-cycle, all merge into Bahamutron

Wouldn't that be badass? I think that would be badass.

Sadly, I would consider getting it just for that.

Sounds lame..on paper..maybe trailer/pics...could help.

This is Square Enix we're talking about, well just Square really heh. The execution will be one of the coolest things ever. Haters can go fap to bold marine shooter #54854651654.

Maybe it's not the Shiva we'd think of. Perhaps Alexander has been spreading his seed, so there's a new generation of half-golem hybrid... ice motorcycles.

Well I think that sounds bad ass, but I don't exactly hold Final Fantasy up on some pedastal. Bring it on.

Yeah it'll be like Advent Children, that movie was so awesome haters can go cry cry into generic space marines!

I like the idea, but it depends on execution. I thought the motorcycle scenes were some of the better scenes in Advent Children, but they obviously need a little...uh, work. I believe it could be really cool.

It's entireeeeely how they pull it off though. If they make it fit with the world and stuff...maybe the belief system or whatever. It could be very cool or really, really cheesy. I really like the stuff S-E has been doing as of late, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until we know more about the game.

I just love the Lightning design.

Don't compare a good fanservice movie to that ****ing ridiculous idea for FF XIII. Just don't.

FFVII: AC was just as ridiculous from start to end, with a million different things that are just as silly as this. And the comment I made about the motorbike and Cloud's seven sword transforming bullshit, is one such example. I have more, if you're so inclined. I'm sorry you enjoyed that (my condolences), but that's what this sounds like to me. More "Advent Children-ing" of Final Fantasy, which is basically the worst thing that could happen to the series since that was one of the worst action movies I've ever seen.

Of course, as some has said it's early. Maybe there's something cool deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep down.

Shiva, who can turn into a motorcycle

... I just don't see it. :lol

no photoshops yet? Is jarosh sick or something?

The motorcycle looks pretty cool, if it's the one that blonde dude is wearing in the latest trailer.

That's what I think as well. I originally felt sick when I read it but yeah, depending on the execution it could be okay. Maybe even cool. Who knows.

You might be right - we both agree that Shiva, who can turn in to a motorcycle....

...

..sorry, I lost it there for a bit - yeah, so we both agree that this sounds like a ****ing ridiculous idea.

Do you want to see it?
No, I don't want to see it, really. I'm super-excited about any info on a new numbered FF, but this... just no, sorry. :lol

It would be cool if it's a type of vehicle implementation like in Xenogears, seeing as how summons have been completely useless for several FFs in a row, making them into a "gear" type mech or vehicle to keep some semblance of them in the game even if it's in name only has potential.
People need to lighten up.

Being able to use them like a mecha piece rather than just battle support would be a pretty good idea, yeah. The way they talk about it is a bit absurd though. :lol

If they implement it in a way that really adds something to combat, that'd be great.

I'm trying to imagine what it could do with ATB.

It probably isn't the case, but for whatever reason I'm kind of imagining they might do what PDSaga did with positioning. Maybe you could use it to race around your enemies and attack from different positions.

...or maybe it'll just look cool and make the game stupid.

Again, depends on what they do. I really think PDS' system is great, so it'd be cool if they merge some of the positional ideas with ATB. I'm not totally sure how I'd want it to work yet.

I think everyone fails to see the potential awesomeness of this. Picture Ixion transforming into an 80's style ax (with surging pulses of electricity going through his holder) and the player being able to rock-out his moves guitar-hero style. If done right this could be a really cool gimi...err... mechanic. If it isn't done right, years after release we will all have fond memories of XIII's cheesiness and love it for its departure from the FF formula. Its win/win.

My best hope for the game is that it just tries to emulate FFX-2 battle system, except more dynamic and fluid (since apparently there is no delay between the attack and the selection of said attack). So, even though it'll probably look retarded, it might still be sorta fun to play despite that. Sure it'll probably be bogged down by random battles or some garbage, but that's another subject.

Of course in true FF fashion (the majority of them anyway), the game will probably try to be really melodramatic about some evil force and the power of the crystal or some shit and I'll be too busy laughing to take anything they say remotely seriously.

"Go Go Shivamotorbike!"

The most surprising innovation, however, is that summons are now going to be part mecha and play an expanded role of more than just battle support. "The treatment of summons beasts has changed quite a bit," Toriyama revealed, "The fact that the players can summon will not change, but what happens after that will be something totally different." The example they discussed was Shiva, who can transform into a motorcycle. Toriyama hinted that he thinks "it might be the case" that you can ride it during a fight. Whoa.

No thanks. Sounds like suck.

I'd love to see this force them to incorporate multiple ways to approach events in the story. For example, a boss in a battle is defeated and starts to run away but you're given the option of dealing with him now or dealing with him later. If you decide to chase after him, you can use these summon vehicles or whatever to chase after him and initiate the battle. A bike battle would ensue and several minor events later into the story would change or something.

Something like that would be neat because it would give the transformations a purpose and allow the player to affect the story a bit.
