Have a feeling Sony are going to drop bombs this E3

If there isn't a single arcade racer at launch, I'll be sorely disappointed. Every PS gen has started with one; WipEout, SSX, MotorStorm. Drive Club, and driving simulators in general, couldn't interest me less.

A sequel to Siren would be on the top of my wanted list as well.

DriveClub isn't a simulator. It's an arcade racer like PGR

It is?! I just watched the unveiling event again this week, and it sure looked and sounded like a simulator to me. Anyways, I'm not that interested in a more realistic racing, like I'm not interested in "realistic" FPS games.

I see a ton of others say this, so you're not alone, but I don't understand where this is coming from? How do you know for sure?

It came from Evolution Studios themselves, go scour the web for more info.

it's not a simulator....I see what you are saying about realistic racers, but the racers you listed (SSX, MotorStorm, Wipeout) all bombed, there's no market for them.

Exactly. If it's an arcade racer they did a poor job with presenting it the first time.

If the rumors about FFV are true, this game has been in development long enough for it to be a launch title.

If its a launch title for the US launch I'll jizz everywhere.

All three console giants are gonna drop bombs. I just hope Microsoft's aren't duds. We could use a good old fashioned barn burner of an E3.

This is what I 100% expect.

Sony big studios already either just released or in process or have already shown ps4 stuff.

GG already showed its ps4
Naughty dogs just about to release last of us
Santa Monica just release god of war a
Japan studios about to release rain and puppetare
Mm about to release tearaway
Quantic about to release beyond two souls

The only dev who hadn't release for couple years already showed ps4 evolution , sucker punch and GG. Plus a surprise from knack.

MS on other hand 1st party has been hybrid for couple of years beside forza

Can't be anymore wrong with that. Sony has 2 teams with Naughty Dog the team that hasn't released anything since Uncharted 3. Santa Monixa has another team that hasn't released a game since God of War 3. Guerilla Games has another team making an RPG. Ready at Dawn are so making a game as well as Media Molecule. Then of course the B tier smaller teams like Zindagi, The Workshop, Tarsier, Giant Parriw, SupperMassive, Just Add Water and etc.

Where as MS their biggest team released Halo 4 not too long ago. We've had Forza 5 not too long ago. And all those new studios MS has set up like Black Tusk are too early to be due or a game as the studios hasn't been working long enough. If I had to guess MS can get a game out from Lionhead and Remedy as well as a new racing game. Of course they also have RARE which I just don't care for anymore. They do have a lot of B tier smaller teams which can make a lo of XBLA and Kinect games I guess.

I'm really curious to see what the hell Versus XIII is at this point, if they still even call it that.

GG working on an RPG? Now that is interesting.

Also, the last Forza wasn't developed by Turn10, and it wasn't Forza 5.

Agreed. All the salivating about the car details just left me cold.

Ok, I'll give it a chance then, and see how it looks when they show more of it.

The fall of arcade racers this gen depresses me to no end, as games like WipEout, SSX, and TrackMania on PC were what racing was all about for me. MotorStorm was a bit meh, but I'd still rather play it than, say, Need for Speed.

it's the same as it was before, but with much better graphics XD

Hey, it could very well be!

The reason I don't think so is that there has to be some reason it has been in development hell for so long now. There just has to be a few ideas or mechanics that just can't click correctly together. There's just something not right about that game.

It wasn't in development hell bro...Final Fantasy XIV took massive amount of resources to develop, and then priority was shifted to FFXIII-2 and FFXIII-3. I think Nomura never got the proper resources, then we have the rumor of Sony helping Square, the recent news of Heavy Rain costing 16 million Euros sealed the deal for me. Reason why HR was so cheap to develop was because of outsourcing....you connect the dots from here

Whatever the reasons, I'm curious to see what the hell that game is when it comes out the other side. It's going to be extremely hard to live up to what a lot of people have fantasized about when seeing that game. Not to mention a lot of people still hold onto it so dearly because it symbolizes SE pre-FF XIII to them, even though it is a game in the FF XIII series.

I hope it turns out well, and I'll definitely give it a shot.

I would hope so because software wise everything they showed was disappointing to say the least.

To be fair, they didn't show much. We only saw a bit of Knack, a small glimpse of infamous: SS, and Killzone: SF just looked like a pretty FPS. I think their biggest deals are being held off for E3.

How do you know it's too early for MS new studios but not too early for GG/SM/ND new 2nd teams?

Point being PS has loaded 3 platforms. Showing Sucker punch, GG , evolution, and knack is sufficient new games already for launch with some 3rd party games.

I already expect Versus 13, and if its not there or at TGS, I don't care for it at all to support it when it does get here on launch.

This is make or break for "The Last Guardian" as well. At the very least, an update would be kindly appreciated to what is going on with its development.

Besides that, you could expect 1 or 2 bombs for the PS4, which I don't have any interest in yet. Its great to hear it will be supported and have a good library by the time I get it, which will be when its $300 in bundle with games.

As for the vita, I expect alot of announcements for that as well. I'm hoping for atleast 1 3D platformer and 1 open world-ish game. I hope it delivers, but thats all just wishful thinking. Last year, E3 was abysmal for the Vita, with little to no new announcements.

I hope they move KZ:Mercenaries release date to sometime in the summer. I plan to pick it up, but I hate getting games in September.

The op post is saddening for me, because it destroys half the original reasons I got my ps3 for. The last guardian was one of the big reasons i got my ps3. I pre ordered two copies of the game too. And the rumors of versus being called ffxv and becoming a ps4 title would be disappointing as well, but not as much given the current state of SE

Becuase we have dates. Black Tusk opened in fall 2012, I think its obvioyus especially for a new studio to have a game ready to show. Where as say Sant Monica team led by Stig, hasnt released a game since God of War 3 which went Gold around Q1 2010. This is just one example.

Biggest bomb of E3:

Final Fantasy Versus XIII being renamed to Final Fantasy XV and being released exclusively on PS4 in 2014.

Even if everyone is predicting it and expecting it, if Square Enix goes through with it it will still blow everyone's minds. Everyone will still get excited and everyone will go crazy on NeoGAF.

I mean just imagine it. Really imagine it. Trust me people will still be surprised and excited when they do this ;).

I also predict a "oh and one more thing" moment from each Square Enix and Sony.

I can imagine it now:

oh, and one more thing...
"Please be excited!"

Anyone think there is a chance of FFXV going multiplat? I can already imagine meltdowns if FFXV is not Playstation exclusive. It will kill most hype for some fanboys I guess. I honestly will be disappointed abit. If it was an exclusive to the PS4, it would give me one more reason to buy one sooner. If its multiplat, I think I'll wait.

I mean really, a whole generatiOn has Passed And we are still waiting for versus xiii and last guardian, the LEAST they can do is show up with games they announced 6 years ago, yet here we are soooo excited for Sony who have done nothing but play into a lot of fanboy fantasies that you all fall for hook line and sinker

Fuck all those. My next gen doesn't start until I play a Ridge Racer!

Repeating myself here. Your not informed:

GG has been confirmed working on a new IP.
Naughty Dog has two teams the other one hasn't done anything since UC3.
SSM had another team with Stig working on a new IP
Japan studios is massive. It has over 400 people (possibly even more now). Team Siren haven't done anything. Gravity Rush Team have not done anything since gravity rush. Theres also Team ICO with Last Guardian.
MM is working on a PS4 IP. Tearaway is a small project.
Quantic is already working on a PS4 project

You also seemed to have forgotten:

Ready at Dawn: working on PS4, new IP have not release a game for 2-3 years
Sony Bend: haven't released a game since UC:A
Polyphony Digital: Obviously GT6, been in development since 2010. GT6 could very well come in 2014 or even 2013
Clap Hanz: Everybody's golf most likely.

Thats a total of 9 games disregarding SCEJ. Sony have definitely not revealed everything

You would be surprised at the amount of people who think the game is multiplatform.
Microsoft fanboys? :P

OK, it will be sort of a megaton for me if it actually looks like this in-game;

The games CGI cutscenes will look like that if not slightly better by now.

The game though. Look at the battle scenes. Now bring in luminous engine lighting and higher detailed character models and environments. That's what you should expect because that's what Nomura and some Famitsu editors said it looks like.

Announcing two games for the PS4 that were already announced as exclusives for the PS3 years ago is a megaton?

The amount of people hyped for these games is dwindling. I do think we'll see megatons of some sort but its not going to be from games that embody how best to waste a shitload of money in development purgatory.

Black Tusk has been around longer than that as MS Vancouver.

Not me. They took forever with Versus and aren't releasing it on a console I probably won't buy for a good 5 years. Fuck them.

Bigger news for me would be a FFXII:I:ZJS port to the HD twins and PSP2. Too bad that won't happen after X/X-2 bombs on the portable. :(

I'm thinking that they're probably going to have to have a second conference for the PS3/Vita. As it stands, they've got so much stuff in development from their major devs that they can completely blow the roof off of E3 if they truly want to. They'll also dominate TGS given Microsoft's invisibility in Japan.

I don't understand why people keep on saying that a GTAV Durango exclusive would be a huge deal considering most people are going to buy that game for the PS3/360. The Last Guardian on the PS4 would be a different story because it would be a legit exclusive.

People said the exact same thing in the months leading up to the Versus 2011 trailer. When that trailer hit people lost their lids and were practically begging SE to release the game soon.

If they release a trailer people will get excited again. You my not be excited now but when they release a trailer for it you will be.

Thing is Sony usually spread their announcements out. We could have something like this

Before E3
Gran Turismo 6 - PS3

E3
Final Fantasy XV
Last Guardian
Zindagi Move Game
Santa Monica IP
Uncharted Golden Abyss 2 - Vita

Gamescom
Ready at Dawn IP
EyePet - Vita

TGS
Hotshots Tennis - Vita
Locoroco 3 - Vita
Gravity Rush 2 - Vita

VGA
Uncharted 4

FFXV being exclusive to a system is a megaton no matter how you spin it. There are very few third party games that could become exclusives that will sell as much as a mainline FF.

The amount of people who are hyped for Versus has in all likelihood increased lol. Just look at the trailers. FF fans want the game to come out and the FF audience is not a small one.

If all due possible, they need to have Uncharted 4 at E3. Even if it's a small teaser.

will be interesting see who ubi, ea, bethesda and activision side with next gen, EA was more Sony recent times same for Ubi too but ms had activision and bethesda

I'm mostly going with the people that are saying that all of the Big 3 are going to have to drop bombs this upcoming E3.

But if Sony have both Final Fantasy XV and The Last Guardian at their conference, that will be huge.

I hope they don't do another Uncharted. Naughty Dog seems better than being beholden to the same IP. Obviosuly it's not out yet, but the last of us is likely going to show us that they're much more creative than that.

all 3 especially Nintendo will most likely go crazy. I'm expecting megatons and the rumored "reverse megaton" with a certain Japan series

I have a feeling the video-game company I am emotionally attached to will make significant announcements this Electronic Entertainment Expo as well, OP.

They've already said that they're going to keep on doing Uncharted until they're sick of it. Their other team is going to be the team that creates new IPs.
