Wii U Satisfaction Thread

I didn't know that Super Metroid was going to be part of the 30 cent promotion, so what I did was redeem some Nintendo Club points towards the Wii version in hopes of buying it for 30 cents once it was available for Wii U, but I just received an e-mail from Nintendo telling me that they will be refunding me 150 Club Nintendo points because I'm a Wii U owner, and that I can use the same code they gave me for Super Metroid and redeem it for the Wii U version for FREE. I'm pretty happy about that, even though I'm saving a few cents, it's nice of Nintendo to give me those 150pts back and let me keep the game for free.

That is actually really cool of them to pay attention to that and give you the heads up. It would be annoying to waste those points on something that's only thirty cents, but even worse in this case since you'd still have t pay the $.30 to get it on the game pad even after using your points.

I have decided to devote the month of May to trying out Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Honestly so far, the game has not caught me so I'm looking forward to getting a new Wii U game soon. I'm thinking Deus X but might just have to wait to Pikmin. Hopefully there is something coming out that we have not seen yet?

Bought Lego undercover on the weekend.
Haven't had a chance to play it too much, but am enjoying.

The load times are flipping awful though.

Question.....

How do the graphics compare the the current 360/ps3 stuff?
I owned a PS3 until recently, but must admit to not paying too much attention to the graphics, they don't really matter to me.

But with all the talk of "Wii U is weak" etc etc I've paid a bit more attention in the game and I really like what I see. Some of the scenery looks great, the water in the sea looks very impressive.

Is this just standard for 360/ps3?

I just got payed a while back, and I intend to buy one. What should I get besides NSMBU?

I can't recommend Lego City Undercover high enough. It was much better than I expected, and this is coming from someone who has played the other Lego licensed games and hated them. Also, of course, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate..those two games will last you into the summer

It's been kinda all over the place. The CPU isn't great and is generally considered worse than that on the 360, however the GPU is much, much better.

I'm sure Nintendo themselves will make great use of the platform and prove what this box can do, especially down the line. NFS: Most Wanted seems to appear better than the other console versions, Injustice seems to run fine from the limited time I've had with the WiiU version. But developers who aren't interested in heavily optimizing their game for the platform seem to have not gotten the best performance out of the platform.

Early launch software hasn't yet been a clear indicator of this system's future. With developers not having gotten final WiiU dev kits until around launch, we have yet to see what developers can really do. We'll have to wait and see.

ZombiU is still pretty much the most interesting game on the platform at this point. Not the most polished or the deepest or whatever, but I'd say it makes good use of the platform.

Yeah, sorry, been keeping up to date with the WiiU spec talks.

Just wondering about the graphics in Lego Undercover..... are they "standard 360/PS3 stuff"?

Is now a good time to pick up the WiiU? Or does anyone expect a price drop around E3? I'm really tempted to grab one despite knowing I'll most likely use it to play VC titles and maybe ZombiU until the heavy hitters arrive later in the year.

Best Buy and Target have run various $50 gift card and/or free Nintendo Land promotions over the last couple of months, so you might want to wait until one pops up again. I bet there will be a price drop, but probably closer to the launch of the PS4 and 720, rather than e3.

It might still drop in price in certain places if you're lucky, since Iwata decided to just abandon his console until the end of july (- which also makes the whole thing redundant unless you like Monster Hunter) If they finally manage to have something at least reminiscent of a software lineup after E3 though, you will not be the only one jumping on ship and could obviously miss the opportunity for the best price.

They're not amazing, but I like them. There are parts that look really good, and other parts that don't look so good, and it suffers from a lot of aliasing. Regardless, the game has a ton of charm and I can't recommend it enough

I don't know how much it has been mentioned but I have to say I really love the Wii U internet browser,
pausing a game And browsingwhile listening/watching Youtube while browsing other tabs & then quickly jumping back into the game u were playing is ideal for me.
This is not slow like wii,xbox360 or ps3 browsers this thing is fast, definnetly an underrated feature.

New Wii U owner here. Picked up a Premium Pack yesterday and so far I'm a satisfied owner :) The deciding factor was actually the Virtual Console and playing those games on the GamePad screen (no decent platformers on "regular" tablets!). Also been hearing good things about NSMBU so decided to pick up that as well. Haven't come around to playing that yet because I've been having a lot of fun with NintendoLand (damn you DK Crash Course!) and SMW on VC!

My one gripe with the system is the quality of the GamePad screen, the image doesn't seem very crisp, a bit blurry at times and has a yellow hue. Is it supposed to be like this? Haven't seen any units displayed in stores here so I have nothing to compare it to. It's not an issue for VC games, but I can't imagine playing HD games exclusively on the GamePad.

In any case, mostly satisfied, except a bit of disappointed with the GamePad screen!

Weird. So this week is meh, next week is incredible overload, and for some reason they're doing sg&g before g&g?

Probably because SGNG is so much better than GNG that if GNG were released first, people may decide they don't like the franchise and not bother with Super. By releasing Super first, people may like the game and decide to get the original. Only thing I can think of.

Well, i too have zero options to compare the WiiU gamepad screen. In fact, i think i have the only wiiU in a 10 kilometer radius

Im ok with the gamepad screen. I set it to low brightness, so the battery can last a little longer (dosent seem to help). Try to get the bightness up and see if thats your problem

0.30 kirby looks like crap in the lçow brightness gamepad. But yesterday i had to watch the end of an episode of Breaking Bad on the gamepad, and it was great.

As others have said, Best Buy, Target, and Meijer have all had deals that resulted in at least $50 off. I actually got my Deluxe set for $247 from Meijer (that price includes the 8.75% sales tax) around 3 weeks ago.

So, make sure you're not spending more than $300 on the Deluxe, either via discount or a bundled gift card.

As a new Wii U owner, you are required to pick up Super Mario World on Virtual Console. They forgot to mention it the in user manual but it's actually the first thing you are supposed to do after setting up your account.

I didn't realize that there was an informal price drop. That would explain why there are a bunch of sub $300 Wii U deluxe for sale.

I picked up a deluxe bundle from another forum member for my kids. It came with Nintendo Land, Call of Duty (have to put it up in the B/S/T thread), Zombie U, and NSMB U.

I just downloaded the system update and bought Toki Tori 2, Kirby Adventures, Super Mario World.

I'm surprised that they don't have a shopping cart system. It seems silly to do 3 credit card transactions instead of 1.

I'm extremely partial to Trine 2. Got it on sale, but I would have paid full price for it, easily.

Can't you add a whole bunch of funds in one transaction then buy the games from that? I thought this was an option, and it would only involve one charge.

You're set. Complete the main story in NSMBU, feel like a failure after trying some challenges and then just enjoy the sight of the console in your living room until August. Don't forget to dust it once in a while!

Everything that works with Wii works with Wii U (well except LostWinds (a WiiWare game) and some channels)

thanks. my mother was curious. she is currently living with me and i told her i was thinking of buying a wii u and getting rid of my wii. she was concerned. thanks. she'll be happy. and i'll finally get to play zombiu.

I wouldn't go that far, but it's amazing indeed. Zack & Wiki on Wii was the console defining puzzle game, this is just as good.
I find Toki Tori 2 superior thanks to it's superb design. I mean, you are free to go wherever you want from the beginning as long as you know how to interpret the scenario.
It's as if you were playing a puzzle focused Metroid but instead of finding unexplored areas thanks to new parts of your suit, you do it thanks to what you learn through the experience of surpassing previous zones.

To me, one of the best designed games ever made.

I can attest that Wii Fit works perfectly, just remember to hang on to a wiimote, you need it to start the wii mode on the U.

I checked out the preview video and wow, the graphics look impressive. I'll have to check it out more in depth.

Yes, you could add a bunch of funds in one transaction but you have to know how much it all costs and then add it all up.

It's also a pain to go through each one, click submit/ok, enter pin, etc. It's also a problem on the 3DS that it just painful if you're trying to buy a few games at a time.

thanks, i never would have thought of that. these premium deals are making it way too tempting. think i will pick up one this weekend if i can find a good deal in my area. i'm in AR so it will probably end up getting ordered online. i played the demo for nsmbwiiu (i think that's it) and let's just say it was a big mistake. i hadn't planned on getting one until the first price drop but this unofficial price drop may have to suffice. the controller (gamepad or whatever) is so nice.

There's some really nice attention to detail, and almost-emergent gameplay. The puzzles are rather open-ended, so you can use your own ingenuity to solve them in ways not necessarily intended by the designers. The characters are fun and have enjoyable if stereotyped personalities, and the difficulty curve is pretty reasonable. It'd be nice if there were an easier way to find some of the more deftly hidden unlocking items, but you don't have to get them all to unlock everything, so it's generally okay.

Aye, I totally reach that it is less convenient than a regular shopping cart system. I think it does help a little, though, especially if you're willing to just throw a bunch of money in it that vastly exceeds the combined value. Invest in the Nintendo Bank, as it were. ;)

Wednesday cant get here soon enough. I got a brand new 8 gig unit for 200 off of ebay and now I have just purchased NSMBU and Nintendoland also brand new for 50 total. My just about 3 year old is going to flip her lid when she sees all of this.

Seriously, I have been evading ZombiU so much, it scares the shit out of me and provides me with lots of stress. I complete a main task and call it quits when I play.
It is the scariest game I have ever played.

I hope we get a sequel.
