Does it at least reset after you make a badge?
nope

I windowed the game just so I wouldn't miss it. No green icon yet![]()

KingKong mentioned earlier in the thread that you can reset drops in F2P games by buying something from that game's store.
Edit: Toma says otherwise.

CS:GO took over an hour for my first card and couple hours for each additional oneSomething is definitely off. You shouldn't have to play for more than ~40 minutes to earn a card.
F2P games work differently from the other games. I understand you can reset the drops for F2P.

So I'm guessing there will be a booster pack in the future. Pay 2 bucks to support your favorite developers and get cards and art out of it.

Luckily I don't care about the cards, other than the fact that I can sell them to people that do.

I would advise to keep the cards and sell them later.
I might even buy cards now if there is really no reset.

I was thinking that, but it's hard to know how Valve will handle invites. If they flood us with invites similar to Dota 2 invites, the cards will become worthless very quickly.
Yep, people eat it up and will beg Valve to sell them more cards. Valve will listen and give cards as bonusses for preorders or challenges or just outright sell reset keys.
As far as I know, they work the same way with the difference of you needing to activate them first by making a purchase. No reset there either though, although I could see Valve introducing a paid reset option which is then sold on the market too. 1,99$ for a game card reset or something.
You don't have to participate. You lose nothing. And everyone will continue to praise them as a benevolent "developer".
Its not only the invites, its also the fact that people WILL abuse the system and make cards basically worthless once the system is out of Beta, see my post above. But yeah, technically, you can get the most money per card if you keep them until right before the next batch of invites hit.
Somebody in this thread said that, according to Steam support, F2P games will have drops resettable by in-game purchases (with some intervals). There was no link to prove that though.
Unless people really care about their badge and player level, it might be easier just to wait a few days for the market to flood and then buy the background/emoticon you want for a couple of bucks
When will the next wave of beta invites go out? It seems to have been a day since the first wave went out.
Which is why I think they should make card drops reset. I mean, either way, their value is going to drop, but we're going to end up with one of two realities:Its not only the invites, its also the fact that people WILL abuse the system and make cards basically worthless once the system is out of Beta, see my post above. Yeah, I pushed to level 4 of Dont Starve, because it gave a shit ton of EXP and I wanted to reach level 10 to see the profile gadget and have a chance for those foil cards.
I read from others that Support denied that so far by saying "Nope! No resets!", but yeah support might not be the best place to ask actually.
In any case, it also makes sense for Valve to sell resets or have people earn resets, which again can be sold, so I am sure that will come eventually if it isnt in yet, but resets wont be free.
Because Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2 are free to play games, they use a slightly different mechanism for dropping cards. In order to receive card drops for these games, you must have made an in-game purchase at some point (or, in the case of Team Fortress 2, owned the game prior to the Free to Play release). Future in-game purchases will result in more card drops. You can see how many card drops you have remaining on your badges page. UPDATE: this does not seem to be granting drops properly right now (but we are tracking purchases). Hopefully we can resolve the issue by tomorrow.

Not receiving game card drops in Dota 2 or Team Fortress 2

- In Which Drops Reset: values for all cards will eventually drop to nothing as people collect them and trade them.
- In Which Drops Don't Reset: values for all cards will eventually stabilize at X (where X = price of game / how many cards it drops +- enough to cover Valve's cut on the market). HL2, TF2, Dota 2 values will eventually drop to next-to-nothing. Steam will see a marked increase in fake accounts, and Valve will make extra money from people buying games just to farm the cards for a slight profit.

Correct, and that is the reason why I think they'll add an option to give card resets not regularly but on a purchase basis. Pay 1,99$ for an unlock key or get an unlock key for completing lots of challenges (which will happen rarely).
In any case, people will abuse the system and Valve will NOT offer regular resets since not having regular resets will make them more money.
Also here's where they talk about f2p resets http://steamcommunity.com/groups/tradingcards/discussions/1/828939163665337613/
Search for the name of the card.Hey how did you search for specific game items on the market page? If I click on cs go for instance it just shows the operation payback token but none of the card stuff.

I can't believe they'd be that stupid. Everything I've learned from reading 'Economics for Dummies' tells me this will lead to disaster.Someone else got a response from Steam Support:
It seems hyper stupid and I honestly can't believe it.
Isn't that going to make the price of all the cards skyrocket if every user has a one-time supply?
This could just mean that future in-game purchases will give more drops for those that dont get drops atm since they are talking about the instances where its bugged for people.
But yeah, this basically is the "reset key" idea I was talking about. Makes sense business wise since they will make even more money through that.
Someone should be sadistic and buy a foiled set of cards and see what happens when you craft it.
There has to be a reason why there are foils.
looks like a new wave was sent out, number of available invites jumped dramatically.
We've just added another 10,000 users from the Steam Trading Group to the beta - emails are rolling out now.
If you receive an email, there is nothing you need to do, just go to your Badges page to see which games you can earn game cards for. You'll also have 3 more invites in your inventory that you can share with friends.
We know there are many more users waiting to participate, so if things are still looking good and stable we'll roll out more invites in a few hours.
I agree with you. I also think that having resets-- and not paid resets-- will help to build the community. I mean, if you're playing Indie Game Q and get 3 of the 8 cards, you'll reach out to the other players who might have the others, maybe make new friends or whatever. They're altering the fundamental expectations of how a game rewards players. They are devoting all their time to developing more and more ways to monetize around a game instead of figuring out ways to improve the actual way games are played, and the more successful they become with it, the more influential their tactics will become, impacting other developers and how they make their games.
Soon a pre-order will net you cards, gems, hats, skins, outfits, weapons, cars, while a convenient game store will sell you the rest of the game's content while all you pay for is some half-assed skeleton of a game.
Wouldn't a weekly reset allow for a market based around the foil versions to emerge? Each week people try to get the foils, a few do, and a few sell them via the market. Valve makes money, and more people get a bit of pocket change that like in other business will make more expensive purchases more appealing.
That $10 game each month all of a sudden turns into a $5 movie, and Valve makes even more.

But it's up to Valve at this point whether they want to focus on community or on making money. I suspect this is the Valve-of-Economics, but I miss the Valve-of-Summer-Camp.
