EA Sports Engineer: Wii U is crap, < powerful than 360. No $ 3party. [Tweets Deleted]

I don't follow sales but I've always been under this impression.

Well if you believe that you're just as wrong as he is.

Then discuss. Don't take things so personal unless someone personally attacks you. There are a large amount of Ninty avatars in here defending nintendo. Am I right or wrong?
Uh, yes? What does that prove? I didn't say they weren't, I said it proves nothing and you can't dismiss an opinion based on that.

GAF has an incredible talent of catching developers say stupid things on twitter. Although I don't think that this will end quite so climactically as the Adam Orth incident. He was a PR catastrophe for Microsoft were as this guys comments barely affect EA. Still, incredibly unprofessional.

The Orth thing was different because he was bringing negative publicity towards a Microsoft product, and creating an assumption amongst the public about the next Microsoft console that may not be true. Orth was also condescending towards people who disagreed with him, though he's probably one of those socially awkward types who thought he was being funny.

This EA guy hasn't done any of that, so there's no reason to fire him. He should probably be more careful about social media in the future, though, especially seeing as how his employer just laid off 10% of their workforce.

He won't be fired over this, he is just saying in a very glib manner what EA has been doing themselves in a much more understated fashion.

And that has been who gives a fuck about the Wii U? ......... shit don't sell so we aint making it.

I don't care about the origin of the term, when the word "fanboy" is used in the context of an argument on a video game forum it is not being used in adult discourse

Most adults also won't argue with others on the internet over a publicly traded company and whether or not it can continue past success. You know what we call those people?

Fanboys.

If that makes me less of an adult, so be it. That doesn't give you or any others free range to insult me personally.

How anyone could think this much salt is just about wii u and being under powered, ...

Nintendo having failure with a modern box is just letting the flood gates open. It's safe to assume these people had the same ideas of Nintendo long ago, yet the success of the box left them not as emboldened to take action.

"Gen 4" better deliver, because the model is in flux and it shows in companies like EA who are in the middle of the market.

This gen is going to be amazing to watch.

Well, obviously, it's out there so there's no going back on it completely. However, it does aid a bit in stopping momentum, obviously. At this point, you can only reference the tweets indirectly.
But doesn't it add more credence to the whole thing? I imagine it'd be easier if when EA are asked for comment they can just say their employees opinions are their own. Now it looks like they've been pulled on request, so EA can't say that. Unless he himself just decided to pull them I guess.

Maybe it is smart to remove, it just seems like a bad idea to me.

I doubt he thought it would go where it did. This place is going to be smoldering rubble during E3.

If that's the case, then he's an idiot. He made very public, very inflammatory comments about a major console manufacturer in an industry full of contempt for said manufacturer. If he didn't expect for it to turn ugly, he needs to get slapped with a trout. Hell, he should be slapped with a trout anyway.

Can someone explain the Reggie shop? What makes it funny?

Also, I hate Nintendo but I think the EA engineer was rather crude. Ironically... I don't understand the backlash. A few days ago people were asking EA to come out and admit why they weren't supporting the Wii U... They have done so and the truth is bitter than expected.

Oh dear that's just a little bit too late! Once it's on the net there's no turning back. My bets is..
"Dring Dring!"
"Hello"
"Oh hi Bob it's carol at EA"
"Oh hi Carol"
"Yeah just to let you know that Malcolm wants a word with you"
"Erm...Malcolm?"
"Yes...Hold on"

"What the fuck do you think your saying on twitter you twat?"
"Excuse me?"
"Calling nintendo shit. What the fuck are you doing that for?"
"Well they are a bit at the moment"
"That maybe fucking true but for fuck sake be professional. Stay off twitter or I'll come a round and break every fucking finger in your right hand so you can't wank ever again"
"But they are shit! I'm sorry but the WiiU is doing awful"
"For Fuck sake man. You know how fucking hard I'm going to have to spin things if the WiiU does well. I'll have Peter fucking Moore breathing down my neck"
"I was only making a point"
"Fuck your point, you're property of E-fucking-A. You have no views anymore, except for Sport franchises are great and you'll code them until you die. Which will be a few hours if you carry on going"

Sorry I've been watching The thick of it.

They didn't posted a photo of themselves with Sony/MS merchandise with a paper saying "Die Nintendo".

This is the stuff that goes to the other side of normal fanboyism.

Where did he have anything talking about death in his picture? He's holding Luigi with a Wii Fit headband on..

you're just setting yourself up to be manipulated if you attempt to embody peoples opinions inside of their avatar because avatars don't always represent interests. in fact, it's a very common way of manipulation, trolling, and viral marketing.

They definitely sell better than most third party stuff, but the same could be said for Halo on Xbox and stuff like Uncharted for Sony. However, not every game is destined to be a million + seller, and I think sometimes companies forget that. Capcom, for instance, was unhappy with Zack and Wiki's sales (a brand new IP no less) despite surpassing 300,000. And of course, this thinking completely ignores the million + sales of new IPs like Professor Layton on Nintendo hardware.

Now imagine you're EA making games during the past generation. You can make HD sports games on 360 and PS3, but you can't port those to the Wii because it can't handle them. So not only do you need to build a game differently for the controller, but you also have to use different (lower quality) assets. The result was cartoonized sports titles that of course didn't sell as well as the "real" versions on the competing HD platforms.

The same thing is happening with the Wii U. It's just not worth it for them.

I'm curious why you "hate" Nintendo. A bank or insurance company sure, but Nintendo?

I'm sorry for posting that. I wasn't aware he was a junior.

And I have a feeling I'm going to get banned for it.
So I would appreciate if y'all don't quote my post anymore. Even if that helps 1% I'd be grateful.
