Exactly. That's why I'm afraid it'll be the same situation for the millionth time. But alot of things are starting to add up and this is the perfect time for a re-reveal and perhaps this is why they have waited so long.
Btw just realized my previous post may have come off a bit harsh towards you, didn't mean to so my apologies. As many of us here are, I'm just sick of hearing next to nothing about the game.
The difference between the 2006/2008 trailers and the 2011 one was already massive.
It's okay. In retrospect I probably never should have mentioned the TGS thing because people are stuck on it for some reason. It's not the first time the game was rescheduled anyway - Nomura said we should have seen it at E3 2011, but nope.

Hmm... I do wonder how the battle system will be. Since it's pretty obvious that Versus XIII will become FFXV, will they stick to the KH-like combat because it will be the first mainline FF to have an action oriented battle system since the TB system was a staple since FFI? Or make it a seamless TB system like FFXII... Or completely make it ATB ala FFXIII.
They should stick with the action RPG style.
OK, didn't know that.
If it's not action RPG/KH-style I'm going to be disappointed. KH combat + large world is what I want and is one of the main draws of the game for me. I don't really see that changing though.

I truly believe that for Final Fantasy to regain its former glory and have a significant presence in the west it needs to go action based. The added 3rd person shooter aspect might help this as well. Turn based hardly pushes the boundaries of gaming, and if it's a PS4 title, they're going to want to showcase a dynamic battle system that is extremely fast, fluid and responsive. Also, it's the Kingdom Hearts team so a battle system akin to that is pretty much a given.
I wonder if the Japanese prefer turned based, I always thought modern turn based games were just following tradition.
I personally enjoyed everything we've seen from Versus XIII so far. All the way from 2006 up to the 2011. That combat looks amazing.
There's also not many characters that can teleport around like that or control so many weapons.
If Nomura is still true to his statement, where he mentioned you can make Noctis as powerful as they showed him off in the 2006 trailer... then I honestly can't think of a cooler main character in ANY video game.

Noctis still has a ways to go before reaching KH2 Sora god levels with Drive Forms. Some Tales characters would also give him a run for his money (Asbel, Ludger, Judith, etc.).
But we'll see. I'd love to have something like Flowmotion in this game but I doubt it.

I'm starting to think that Versus (XV) will actually be cross-gen.
If Nomura had originally intended to show the game off at TGS 2012 then it's safe to assume that the game would have been running on the PS3, since the PS4 hadn't been announced at the time. I doubt that they would show off the game again without being clear of the platform that it was coming to.
So I'm expecting a PS3 version with a PS4 up-port.

I'm amongst the belief that the reason it couldn't be shown was that it shifted to next-gen development and they couldn't show/talk about a game being developed for a unannounced console.

If they are efectively making a PS4 game and using a new engine I guess it shouldn't be rule out the possibility that a great part of the game got scrapped. After all new assets would be required to use the PS4 potential.
And somehow, I feel the less XV/Versus is connected to the "old" versus the better from a marketing point. IMO that's the reason for SE to keep the game in the dark for that much time already.

I don't think it makes sense for FF to be cross gen. This is a visual showcase franchise that needs to target a fixed spec. Cross gen is just a fancy way of saying ps3 developed game with a ps4 port. SE won't generate meaningful buzz displaying a cross gen game at the sony presser.

Correction: A main character with some depth.
Cross gen is much less likely than PS3 release or a PS4 release IMHO going on the precedence that JRPGs never get that treatment even if they release late in the console cycle. Plus it would be a bad way to showcase Luminous if Versus is XV.

Am ready to play any FF single player game without Toriyama's name in sight., and I hope they don't talk about Lighting Returns at E3

If Versus is XV, will they target a T rating? In the first trailer Noctis impales a dude and it was pretty damn gory. So I always just assumed Versus was not targeting the T like every other FF game.
You can still have blood in a T rated game. I could see it being a C CERO rating in Japan though instead of the usual B.

The thing is, if you watch the 2008 trailer you'll realize that a lot of the people involved in Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts games are working on this game.

I wouldn't say it's a given but rather it has an extremely high chance in being there.
You won't be disappointed as long as the game makes an appearance of some sort at E3.

Despite my utter lack of faith in current SE (apart from FFX HD and Versus), I do believe they'll come through this time. Just seeing a player controlled airship journeying around Versus' world would make E3 for me, but is it bad of me to also want more info on Agni's Philosophy? I wouldn't be surprised if Versus became XV, and AP became XVI, though perhaps that's hoping for too much
