RETRO STUDIOS: Will we finally see their mystery WiiU title at this year's E3?

I love this..

It hasn't even been a year since Sonic Racing Transformed, they wouldn't make a Mario Kart game that soon.
They certainly could be assisting with assets and courses like retro was with mk7. Though I don't know if Nintendo would trust them with their mk engine, given that they are basically their only competition in the genre.

is wikipedia accurate in saying they have 60 employees? that seems awful small to be considered a main development team. it looks like a planning subsidiary to me

That's someone posting their opinion. Nintendo has never listed an exact number of internal employees per department. Actually I can easily tell you it is over a 100 by just counting a few games they internally developed. SPD internally develops most of the software features of Wii/DSi/3DS/Wii U alongside actual retail games like Kiki Trick, Tomodachi Collection 2 and Rhythm Heaven Fever for example. All recent internal Sakamoto games by the way.

I would guess Sakamoto hopes to one day do Metroid Dread for the 3DS. A classic side-scrolling game I would imagine.

lol sure.... tell me she doesn't look more realistic than in the other prime games.. I just want the artstyle to go back to the first prime. Here is a better pick

Yeah, just joking. I don't like that model, but Prime 2/3 models aren't that better. Smash bros had a good Samus, I don't think they're going to use realistic style again.

Prime 3 was ok, but the first prime was just magical.... anyways Retro FIX THIS SHIT!

Go back to your roots bro! Make Samus human like she was in the first prime, not this anime shit.

She looks fucking awful in all 3. At least Other M got it right. For a company that tends to have great art in their games, Retro's character artists must have been drunk when they put these Samus designs together.

would rhythm heaven fever not be a collaborative game like the prior one? either way, it doesn't matter. sakamoto could still get involved in a minor form in a Retro Studios-developed Metroid title just like he did on the prior ones. his involvement hasn't been key to the production of those games for a bit now

This might include 3DS titles as well. Since Donkey Kong is there ad what not.

if it doesn't the check mark besides Yoshi's Land doesn't make sense. i don't know why Flipnote studio is checked either

I'd be shocked if it didn't make the next Nintendo Direct or E3. No matter what their game turns out to be, I imagine it will be of top notch quality.

Somebody photoshop her hair black and put glasses on her please for the love of god!

As much as I love Metroid (playing Super Metroid right now) I'm kinda hoping Retro is working on something else. No Eatchildren, NOT Mario Kart U. It would be amazing if we get something entirely different.

At this point how could it not be Mario Kart? Nintendo needs to sell Wii Us, a new IP or even Metroid isn't going to give them the boost they need.

I highly doubt they're working on mario Kart for three years when the franchise sells millions besides from the quality of the game.

Maybe two Retro teams, I could see it, Ninty first party might be under pressure again.

Rhythm Heaven Fever like Rhythm Heaven is a collaboration with Tsunku and his music studios (TNX/JP Room). They aren't game developers though. That's where all the vocal songs come from in the game. The entire game, and even a lot of music, was internally developed by SPD.

I'm not saying Sakamoto is against working with Retro Studios. However, evidence points that Metroid Dread was once a hand held project by Sakamoto's internal team that doesn't have relation to whatever Retro Studios is working on now. It could be Metroid Prime 4, Donkey Kong Country, Eternal Darknes, whatever.

Seriously though, what if it was Metroid vs Star Fox. What would even happen in that situation? How would the planet adjust?

A rip in time and space. A broken ship crashes through the opening and seems adrift. The orange space vessel sends out an emergency beacon. A nearby space cruiser picks up the sign-

Ah hell I'm not making any fanfiction

Can someone recount how the Paul Gale business went down? Doesn't he still maintain that he was in fact told by a Retro employee that Star Fox X Metroid: Fusion Saga was at least pitched at Retro?

It...it's gonna be that, isn't it?

I'm secretly ok with it

I actually wouldn't be surprised if they are working on two games atm. I really hope one is another FPA Metroid, following on from 3's sort of cliffhanger. I would quite like Retro try their hand at a new IP (Raven Blade? lol), so maybe that instead or as well as Metroid.

Sure, if you like anime inspired characters. I don't, so i prefer Prime 1 Samus. She looks more realistic and more stoic.

I don't like that kind of realism, it's something personal.

If I have to choose a Prime model, I would also go for 1, but most of that decision is based on that artwork instead of her real model. :p
