Xbox Reveal Thread: Durango Unchained

Well Sony I am giving you my money. Microsoft did a horrible job. I hope this console crashes and burns. I loved Xbox so much in the past but now they want to focus on tv. A halo tv show LMAO! This reveal was abhorrent.

Honestly, I thought it was good to great conference. Not sure what people were expecting. You're either going to get tons of games on E3 or all the TV stuff at E3 - pick one. I think a lot of its fairly cool but I better be able to connect if I live outside the US to some of these features. I live in Canada, if I got TSN as a similar partnership with ESPN, I'd be all over that.

It's not just the fact that there weren't cool games, it was also that what they were talking about was boring. They are wanting so badly to create some sort of all encompassing revolution, but what they're offering are just tiny, baby steps. They're emphasis on live television seems like they're headed in the totally wrong direction. Less and less people seem to be caring about live TV as we all start to embrace streaming.

comparisons to sony's event are inevitable, and personally, i feel sony comes off as the lesser of the two. they come across as presenting some sort of prototype that does one thing really well, while microsoft presented a product that does a bunch of things to make your life easier.

Yeah good luck with that outside america.

Just caught up.

They revealed a next generation console with EA sport titles and... a COD game?

Wow. What a terrible reveal. 3 months later with less to show. I'm guessing they're saving a lot for E3 because that was awful. With blocking used games I have 0 interest in this system.

Damn I bet Sony is shaking in their boots right now. Targetting the bro audience was very smart because that is the audience that made the 360 the market leader. With all of those media features, the Xbox One is going to destroy the PS4.

Moneyhatting CoD content first guarantees that PS4 will have a small CoD playerbase again.
Lol. Wishful thinking huh?

I keep hearing "mass audience, that's why it didn't focus on games," but what mass audience is watching a video game console news conference at 10 AM on a Tuesday?

wow that was bad. every time they used the name "xbox one" I thought of the first xbox.

"this team is redefining racing games on xbox one!"
"wait till you see Madden on xbox one!"
"this is what CoD looked like on 360, but now its one xbox one!"

ugh

and so much TV stuff. It felt like a conference from the 1990s. It has MMX and cd-rom! Convergence! Then that Remedy game starts with an FMV. yea!

i, for one, welcome our xbox overlords

this was the presentation i was expecting. heavy focus on users abroad, highlighting features that could benefit everyone, and bringing out the big guns when it counted.

so the presentation was very good. the voice-recognition stuff hasn't been done like this for standard tv-watching, and i think that and the gesture stuff will be what sells this machine to the masses. the xbox one name is kinda referencing that it's the one device you need. it's the machine microsoft was trying to beat sony to the market with.

all that's left will be price, but i think they have made a good impression with some broad appeal. steven spielberg halo tv show, ea sports guy on stage, and ending it with a premiere of gaming's biggest console franchise. it's not all about the games anymore, but if you want those to sell, you have to appeal to an audience outside the hardcore base. i think microsoft was successful with this.

comparisons to sony's event are inevitable, and personally, i feel sony comes off as the lesser of the two. they come across as presenting some sort of prototype that does one thing really well, while microsoft presented a product that does a bunch of things to make your life easier. sony focusing only on games, and more importantly, games no one really cares about, made the event feel smaller by comparison. more problematic, those were actually sony's big guns. we'll undoubtedly see more from them at e3, and i'm assuming we can expect stuff from naughty dog, media molecule, santa monica, and the other usual suspects, but microsoft will have big stuff too, and more likely, things that resonate better with the public at large.

i just think sony might have painted themselves into a corner right now. we'll see if their e3 conference expands on the ps4's features, or if they double-down on games. i think that right now, microsoft's in a better position moving forward.
agreed, i don't play consoles anymore but if i was gonna spend $500/$600 for one they better do more than play video games, and MS tv features if as advertised looked pretty cool and fast.

Sony is like Microsoft, they want to take over the living room, but have not shown anything of that sort. E3 will be funny with MS showing off games and Sony showing their tv features.

Well, it was awesome when they showed how you could watch a movie trailer while you are watching a movie. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to do that.

Reading this thread makes me not want to support Sony. (Not really, but the trash shows up during these things) I played through an hour of Madden on my Vita during lunch, love it, and then surfed here till the show.

I'll buy this along with the PS4. Both day one.

Time to get off gaf till the people that ONLY showed up after the reveal are gone. 15 exclusives and 8 new IPs sounds great to me.

I'll gladly be playing some new Killzone and Forza 5 this holiday.

Fanboys make me sick.

- no secret sauce
- underpowered 8GB of slow ass RAM
- Terrible conference with focused on everything but games.
- the console blocks used games and EVEN if the game is yours you have to pay
to play on a second console.

It's a magnificent powerful and amicable console just as Aegis predicted, what's not to love??!!!!!

Surprised about the "no gameplay" comments when it was known for days that they were pushing almost all of it to E3?

I mean MSFT still has to put on something for E3 guys...

The rest of the conference could've spent more time on other hardware capabilities and benefits. Was convulted.

I've been hearing for the last week or two that this event wasn't going to be about the games. Of course today I see nothing but, "where are the games?!?!?!?!"

Sony didn't really show me anything interesting that I wasn't expecting. If Microsoft had a dude play Halo 5 for a few minutes it would have done nothing for me. That game is coming.

The games will be at E3. This fall they will start coming out and then, based on the finished products and when there are enough released so the console isn't collecting dust, I will decide which console(s) to buy.

Some of the press already playing Microsoft lap dog. Guy on the Polygon post show just said he was really impressed. lmao

Ouch man, he can't have an opinion? I went in hoping to see how the UI, user experience and console has changed. It wow-ed me more than PS4's conference. That like, your opinion, man.

The interface tech was impressive but they just glossed right over anything technical. It really amazes me how heavy they focused on television, then played a few short game clips.

I like the idea that third party developers are going to be slapped and locked up if they try making games for the Xbox One. Microsoft is putting a focus on new IP's and making a console more diverse.

There will be games for the Xbox One, from many developers.

It sounds great indeed, maybe the highlight of the conference. Too bad we didn't see a glimpse of them.
But it's true the whole internet is in troll mode right now. Better wait for the dust to settle, and especially have some information from the different interviews after the show.

I hope we will have at least some teasers between now and E3, anyway.

You always have to bear in mind that when you're a European watching Microsoft conferences you have to take all those grandiose claims with a massive pinch of salt until we know how utterly crippled all that exciting functionality is over here. All the bits of the presentation you were impressed by, until we know more we have to expect them to be only for Americans.

Yeah as a Canadian I feel the same way.

Yeah me too, nothing better than doing something else while having a movie "experience"

Also Skype during a movie? Great idea, nothing I'd like better than some twat spoilering it for me. Or having to explain wtf is going on.
