Did the OP *potentially* save the video game industry?

Can't imagine the feels he's having right now.

:')

Sony, now it's the time to show the loyal fans how important we really are for you! The hell with this DRM bullshit on PS4!

You guys in this thread are all awesome and famousmortimer deserves a medal.

You guys are celebrating too soon. It´s only the beginning.

Though I must admit, I´m so happy to see gamers actually do something instead of accept things the way they are. That´s very impressive.

The Reddit thread is on the front page right now. 2500 upvotes, over 1000 downvotes. Who the hell downvotes something like this?

This fits perfectly into 140 characters. Feel free to copy it if you can't think of anything.

.@yosp .@jpkoller .@luckylongworth .@rohdescott As a PS gamer I'd like to send my bestwishes for the upcoming launch #PS4NoDRM #PS4USEDGAMES

Sony hasn't made an official stance on this issue, so those on Twitter have to be very careful with their wording in order to not get in trouble with the company. But i'd say the fact that they're even acknowledging the tweets is a good sign.

I agree. The fact they're all using the same word indicates to me it has been discussed internally and they're playing by their PR playbook.

The numbers are fuzzed. From the Reddit FAQ.

A submission's score is simply the number of upvotes minus the number of downvotes. If five users like the submission and three users don't it will have a score of 2. Please note that the vote numbers are not "real" numbers, they have been "fuzzed" to prevent spam bots etc. So taking the above example, if five users upvoted the submission, and three users downvote it, the upvote/downvote numbers may say 23 upvotes and 21 downvotes, or 12 upvotes, and 10 downvotes. The points score is correct, but the vote totals are "fuzzed".

Only bit I would add is in bold but besides that, yeah the casuals would understand that I'm sure.

What does it matter if the game has been used? I have used my TV, AVR or PC and if I decide to give any away Sony, Yamaha or AMD aren't going to be banging on my mates door demanding money from them.

Why should a physical copy of a game be different to anything else I buy?

Hopefully it does something but

WE CAN'T STOP NOW.

2 weeks until the 10th, their E3 conference.

Surely we can keep this campaign up for 2 weeks. Let them know that this won't disappear and if anything, it will be worse if they do announce something like what MS has done at E3 (or in their after E3 conference interviews).

Keep this up for 2 weeks, let them know what we think and hopefully they will announce what we want them to announce so they can't go back on it.

This. We need to make this a constant river, not a one day tsunami.

What I don't understand is the people who don't want the disc to just work. If I stick a disc into the console it needs to fucking work, no registering, no fucking bullshit. It should just read the disc, and then I should be able to launch the game.

Why are there people out there (gamers, not publishers) who are looking forward to the complication of this process?!?

The same types of people who think voting doesnt matter imo. Those who are so ignorant that they allow stupid shit to happen because they believe there is nothing they can do about it.

Careful guys, terms like Xbots/Sony ponies etc... can lead to a ban.

damn, did not know that. Just got sick of the apologists accepting everything MS has done and said regarding the XBox One.

Listened to a podcast yesterday where someone said they were a Xbox fan and had to defend any business decision MS takes. This just pushed me over the edge.

Anything that isn't this is unacceptable for consoles:

That Reddit downvote thing is not real, guys. They have a system in place which automatically adjusts the ratio to make it balanced. Suppose if a post gets 5000 upvotes in a short time, the system will kick in and reduce it to around 3000 by adding downvotes. It also stops vote spamming. I think it's clear that most people are supporting this movement on Twitter and Reddit; we just need a major push so that Sony knows we mean business.

Agreed. The mental gymnastics in trying to find a solution to a problem that does not exist is quite depressing.
