I just signed up for a twitter account for this reason only and want to know how do I do this posting thing?

Also I think we should reach out to celebrities that game a lot like Ice T.

"Used games only account for $1.59 billion in revenue, which means that a year's-worth of the used game market barely makes up for a fraction of what Activision or Electronic Arts make in a single quarter. The used game market has also dropped by 17.1% in 2012 compared to what it was in 2011. Despite publishers complaining about used games cannibalizing new game sales, the used game market is actually shrinking. "

"DLC accounted for $2.22 billion in 2012, up 33.9% over the previous year. Subscriptions stayed steady at $1.05 billion, up 12.9%"

Now wouldn't it be better to stop fighting a ghost in used games and focus on digital content? You cut used games and I promise you they lose DLC sales.

More and more people are buying digital, so the second hand market will fix itself for job creators eventually

I really hope Sony and MS are going to change their mind on all this used-drm stuff, but they probably won't, they'll losen the tight but i'm pretty sure some of those limitations will remain in place.

Customers have only themselves to blame if they support shit like this. I hope all the people worried about platform owners blocking used games and extensive DRM usage bought a Wii U!

Of course! Barring DRM, always online, digtal only, and other such silliness... I plan to buy every dedicated game system that comes out. We're likely nearing the end of them though. D:

Wonder if this holds any merit, from Twitter but i don't know how to show a true copy of the page.

I never consider myself a real gaming journalist. But for those of you who are, you need to take the side of consumers. #PS4NoDRM

@Emi1yRogers this is going to happen. Plus Sony are going to charge for their online service.

If you tweeted today, a tweet or two during business hours tomorrow in the UK and west coast US will be very helpful - UK (SCEE) and US (SCEA) get back to work tomorrow after the long weekend. If someone in those groups wants to show a higher-up person this stuff, it'll be good to be able to show them that it's still a current and active concern.

So we spend more on DLC than used games but are still getting our rights taken away? What in the actual fuck!?

If I buy a game and pay fcking € 60,00 for it then its mine possession. I decide what to do with MINE game.
Whats next, car dealers asking a fee if you buy a used car or it wont start.

Its my fcking game and I decide what happens.

Haha try paying $1000s for industry software that is just licencing fees

You just start a tweet to someone with the @ symbol followed by their twitter name, or you can kind of search by typing their full name in but the username is quickest. Use the hastag # followed by PS4NODRM or PS4USEDGAMES for it to be counted among the others :)

Also, piracy dude - wow. It's one thing to pirate but to pirate and be proud of it.. lolll. Pirating digital media/goods is the same as stealing from a store, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm done most of my tweeting for today (well, I may retweet one or two things or do a fresh #PS4NoDRM tweet just before I go to bed) however I plan on putting just as much effort in tomorrow.

Infact it's EVEN MORE important to do it tomorrow because yes, people will be back to work and guess what that WILL mean?

Meetings, lots of meetings and therefore probably discussion about this twitter campaign. So it's important they know where we stand and we won't let this slide after one or two days of tweeting.

And they think losing 1.59 billion is worth the chance losing that or more in downloadable content? I don't understand the justification.

I'm not even arguing the bullshit bloated budgets these games get.

This is very interesting. Its amazing how big DLC has become. I also thought the used games market was much larger.

Man, looking at this thread and all the others, its pretty amazing what a colossal fuck up the X1 reveal has been.

Not only did MS personally paint themselves as anti-consumer assholes but they basically turned Sony into gamers' knight in shinning armor.

I'll say this.

In all honesty, this whole situation doesn't effect me as much. I don't buy used,. I don't lend out many games nor do I borrow them. I rent a lot but honestly most games I rent aren't great and thus that's why I rented them...but even with all of that. Having options is always better than not.

i get that potentially used games, lending and all that jazz causes dudes to lose money..That sucks but this system only serves to fuck people over more. So I don;t buy tons of used games but what about the kids who loves games but aren't wealthy. People often point to gamespots rip off 55 dollar used games but fuck those...what about the games that are out of print but there used for 20 bucks. I knew a bunch of kids who couldn't afford the new Madden so they bough the two years old versions. They would be fucked over with this system. What about the friends who borrow games? I just didn't try out many games. i stayed in my comfort zone but my brother let me borrow NBA Live whatever. It literally got me into sports, without that I wouldn't be able to discover new stuff. Demos often suck so renting or borrowing is often the best way to get new experiences.

Regardless, like I said, fi they go with this...it wouldn't hurt me. But it would negatively effect a lot of others. In fact the used games part doesn't really bother as much as the always online and the difficulty of lending. The proposed system just cuts down the userbases. Niche games will falter because people cant take a chance on them. and in order to make up for that companies will only make even safer games. More shooters and racers because they sell.

I get that there is a problem. But I just think this method isn't too strong or misguided if that;s what they are truly targeting here.

DRM would effect rentals too since the majority of rented games are actually used by default.

Yup it's the week before E3, meetings and briefings all day every day.

Anecdotally speaking, I believe this is primarily because GameStop went from selling used games at $14.99 cheaper than its factory sealed counterparts, to selling used games for approximately $4.99 cheaper. Fellas like me, who maybe bought 1/10th of his games used simply stopped bothering. That 1/10 games I did buy used, were games I'd never had a "must have" level of interest in to begin with, and never would have paid $60 for in the first place.

Same goes for buying games with my GF. She's not a core gamer by any stretch, and is totally content to pick up a fun game a few months down the road at a discount. That gets her to turn on her Wii, play for a while, then poke around in the online store where she spots old classic games that she does sometimes buy. So buying the used game at a discount (new-to-her!) does get her onto the platform, exposes her to the marketplace, and gets her to spend money.

The best we can really do is give people arguing for no or lesser DRM evidence of consumer sentiment; all we can do is give them ammunition and let them fire the guns. Seems like a pretty worthy cause. :)
