Uhhh, mine 3? I've played Mario Chase and Luigi's Mansion a ton with her. She loves playing NSMB U with me too because she can use the pad to place blocks down, and I love it because I get the added challenge of trying to avoid her "helpful" blocks. So it's a win win. She really thinks she's helping me, where she's usually creating more challenge than helping to avoid. She was getting very frustrated trying to do the 2 player, play-through, as her platforming isn't as strong as mine. I love this Wii U.
 
My cousin is a girl and loves Nintendoland, especially the Zelda game. Ugh I want to kill myself when we play that game haha. So repetitive and if you die you have to do it all over again.
 
So I finally got a WiiU for my birthday yesterday! Got the deluxe set and have been playing around with Nintendoland (which is surprisingly awesome), but I haven't picked up any other games yet. What would you all recommend as two or three must haves for the system? I'm definitely going to pick up NSMBU and was thinking about grabbing MH and NFS with it, but I'd appreciate some outside input as well.

Sonic Racing Transformed is perhaps the best kart racer ever.

And I'm a big fan of ZombiU. If you like survival horror in the vein of Condemned--where the pace is slow and methodical, and you're creeping about in the dark and in fear for your life about every second--then you will love this game.

I also like Mighty Switch Force on the eShop.

Today was a shit one.

I had disconnected the Wii U from the powerpoint for a couple of days and today I went to reconnect it but nothing happens. No red light, nothing. Game pad works. Try it in another powerpoint, still nothing. Really weird because ive never had any problems with wii U since i got it (except for the occasional lock up in miiverse). Im thinking/hoping it might be the power brick and not the motherboard.

Anything u guys recommend. Will be calling nintendo australia on monday
 
Well, I can finally post here.

I got a Wii U Premium a week ago (for only 240€ from a guy in Italy) and quite enjoy it so far. I got NSMBU via the eShop, Zombi U, Nintendo Land, Nano Assault EX and Runner 2. A few days ago I also had 2 friends from the US over who quite liked the Wii U, they both have a PS3 at the moment. The only shocking thing for me was watching them play Mario, they both sucked, which really shocked me. I mean, who can't play Mario? It shouldn't be that hard. Anyway, Nintendo Land was a lot of fun for all three of us, we made quite a lot of noise. I think it's a really great game for beginners and everybody who is not the typical Nintendo fan. Everybody can have fun even hardcore gamers.
 
I got my deluxe Wii U at launch. Use it EVERY day for internet browsing. I've got Nintendoland, Darksiders 2, Assassins Creed 3, Mass Effect 3, ZombiU, NSMBU and Batman: Arkham City. I have Deus Ex:HR, Wind Waker, Watchdogs and SC: Blacklist preordered. During E3 I will be watching the Nintendo Direct with about $250 ready to preorder whatever greatness is revealed! Also going to preorder AC4 and Batman: AO. So yeah... I fucking love this console.

Forgot downloads... I have The Cave, Bit.Trip, All the 30 cent games so far, Nano Assault, Trine 2, Little Inferno, SMW and SM2. My wallet hates me.

Anyone elses Wii U make a clicking noise? I called support and they said it was most likely just moving parts.
 
I got my Y-cable yesterday from Eforcity and it solved the problem. Now the drive is recognized by the Wii U. Prior to that, I did try the drive on the Wii as well as another USB 3.0 drive and it did not work. I guess USB 3.0 drives uses a bit more power than USB 2.0?
I only have a bunch of VC/eShop games so I still have a ton of space (22GB) left so I probably won't be using the drive for awhile.

I used the browser extensively yesterday and was pretty impressed with the performance compared to what was available on the 3DS/DSi. Is there a way to access your browsing history? I didn't see a way to do that.

My 10yr old daughter loved Lego City U. She completed it yesterday and had a blast with it even though she thought it was a button masher.

I guess I'll do some experimentation and try the new drive on the Wii although I seem to recall people having issues with USB 3.0.

I do have a self powered desktop drive but I was hoping to avoid using it since I didn't want to manually turn the drive on/off.

I placed an order for a Y cable yesterday so it'll take a couple of weeks for it to come in (from eforcity via Hong Kong).

That clicking noise happens on mine when the disc is being accessed, during system start-up, and occasionally when closing/opening a game or app. Seems to be a common occurance amongst Wii Us though, so I wouldn't sweat.

That's what I was thinking. It was the same with the Wii. I guess it's just louder because it sits in my wall unit. Scared me for awhile.
 
I totally forgot to mention something: My Gamepad makes a weird noise when I shake it. It sounds like something inside of it is loose and shaking around. First I thought it's the stylus but it's not. The sound comes from the right side of the gamepad around the stick and buttons, what could it be?

It's the gyroscope sensor. Yes, it's supposed to make noise.
 
I don't know the reason but some Wii games look a whole lot better being played through the U. Maybe it's because I was using component cables when my Wii was hooked up vs HDMI for the U, but Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade in particular look so much better. Not Dolphin better, but a noticeable difference. Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword still look really rough around the edges though.

Maybe it's just me, but Twilight Princess' IQ seems vastly worse than every other Wii game. I played through it recently before moving on to the Metroid Prime Trilogy, and the difference was massive. I have no idea why that would be the case, though, unless it's running in some weird low-resolution like RE4 or something?

Toki Tori 2. Seriously. Perfect Wii U game thanks to Off-TV Play and Miiverse (both of which enhance that game A LOT!). Thank me later. (Also, it's on sale for 25% off right now!)

North American (and I assume JP) Wii Us have a built-in upscaler. PAL (EU/AU) systems do not. So if you have an NTSC system, you have an upscaler which means all your Wii games will look mildly sharper.
 
I think Toki Tori 2 is the best puzzle game you can buy.
The look seem to put off some people, but the challenge is there.
I don't remember how long it was, but i've pass many hours to complete it and i want more.
 
My Wii U was without doubt my most played console in May. The sad truth is though that 90% of time spent on the Wii U was on the Virtual Console.

I'm still very glad I own one, but I'll be happier after I see what they show off in E3.

What? That isn't true at all. My PAL Wii U upscales everything to 1080p, just like any other model.
 
Got my Wii U around Jan/Feb from someone on Craigslist who was selling off some extra ones for a reduced price. I was glad to get it a bit less than retail (no tax or anything) but I really would have liked to get it when Costco had it on sale...but alas.

I ended up getting Scribblenauts, Monster Hunter Ultimate and Lego City for Target's Buy 2 get one free sale which was pretty awesome, and thus far I've picked up Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario World and Little Inferno from the eshop. NintendoLand came with it, but after I got some regular games I haven't really played it that much

I'm absolutely loving every second I have with it. There's not a whole ton of games that were out that really grabbed me, but Lego City has probably been one of the best games I've ever played in my life. As silly as it is, I've been really loving the internet browser too- When i got a new phone I wasn't able to keep my unlimited data plan, so now when it's nighttime and our computer is off, I can watch videos and browse the internets on my wii u.
 
I've had my Wii U sinse launch and I'm about as happy with it as I expected I'd be within the first year of its release.

Looking back at the original Wii, in the same amount of time, I really felt the same way though. I had only about three games (Twilight Princess, Wii Sports, and Super Paper Mario). I actually have four games for my Wii U (NSMBU, Nintendoland, Sonic Racing, and Lego City) and barring the fact that none of these games individually matches the scope of a Zelda game, overall I'm happier with my Wii U selection within the first 7 months.

I do think the system gets too much flak for its hardware design and spec choices, however. I can understand the arguement, but to me, I find it really impressive that Nintendo was able to fit PS360-esque power into a box that isn't much bigger (or louder) than the original Wii. I also still find excitement in the fact that we are going to see Nintendo games looking better than they ever have, even if they aren't running on the most cutting edge hardware available (and the truth is with PCs around, they never really have).

The controller, which I'll admit wasn't appealing to me at all leading up to the systems release, is surprisingly comfortable. I'm not sure how much this second screen concept will change gaming, but I do think it's a neat addition. I trust that Nintendo will do some pretty interesting things with it in the future, as it certainly has that potential. I just wish the battery didn't drain so fast.

All in all, I love the hardware for what it is and I don't find the current game drought all that different from the last few consoles I bought at launch (Wii, PS3, GCN). It usually takes about a year for any system to really make strides in this area, so why Wii U is being singled out for it, I'm not sure. We'll find out in about two weeks what the next year and a half will bring to the system, and that's where I think Nintendo will need to prove this systems worth properly. If they can't do that, then yeah, I might start regretting my purchase, because without games, no hardware is worth a damn.

Not to mention its power consumption is far, far less than the 360 and PS4 making it a very green console. Well, relatively speaking of course.

Seriously, Toki Tori 2. Get it. Own a fifth incredible game that is absolutely ace on that platform. And it happens to be on sale right now! Do yourself the favor :)
 
Has Nintendo said what they plan to do with the DDP program after the year is up? I seem to recall them saying that deluxe model owners only get a year. I hope they don't plan on making us pay for it, but something tells me they will.
 
I've had mine for a few weeks and really enjoy it. One of the first games I got was nsmbu, but I haven't really played it as I'm not into platformers(I got it for my daughter). I decided to play it the other night and it just clicked. I'm going for 100%.
 
I just ended up buying one and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I haven't fired up ZombieU yet, but I'm playing a decent chunk of Nintendoland and plan on getting New Super Mario Brothers U at some point in the near future.

The deluxe promotion ends after a year, I don't know how they should charge for it, it's a promotion, where you get a 10% refund on eShop games, paying for it wouldn't make any sense.

I was under the impression Playstation + also had discounts and you had to pay for it as well.

Having a ton of games from my time with the Wii U I would say

1. Lego City U: best game on the Wii U. I have beaten the story, I have 30% completion for 30 hours of play, so maybe I will get like 100 hours, so lots of content here.
2. NSMBU: great to see NSMB in HD, challenging and fun game.
3. ZombiU: great use of the game and top notch atmosphere, not a typical action game, but true survival horror.
4. I think Black Ops 2 is really great, the only cons is the player number in MP, but still I get good team deathmatch play.
5. AC3, loved it so far, having everything on the gamepad, and all the TV screen for game inmersion is great. off tv play too!! I play with everything on the gamepad sitting on the gamepad holder, and controlling with the Wii U pro controller.
6. Sonic Racing is great and challenging but don´t have enough time to play.

Not right now, but there's always hope.

If Nintendo did incorporate them at some point, they should be called "stamps"...and you can view them all in your stamp book.

Are you sure its not the a b x y buttons? Hold and place the gamepad upside down. The buttons will fall down. They are made like this on purpose.

That could be the noise when you shake it.

If you haven't already, utilizing the triple jump(like from sm64) in levels will change the feel of how the game plays.
