I just watched the last episode. I knew Cat and Robb were going to die because I accidentally spoiled myself but didn't know when or how. That was brutal especially the belly stabbing. I feel more sorry for Cat than I do Robb. She tried so hard to protect her children and the last thing she knows before she dies is that two are missing/dead, the other two captured by the enemy, and one dies right in front of her. I'm rooting for Ayra to murder everyone. Maybe Brienne can help when she hears of Catelyn's death.

just a little note here, it would probably best to not 'speculate' since you seem to have read the books. Providing background information about the series is absolutely fine of course

And this is what this is, it's all background information on the current state of the North. How the show will deal with it all is beyond my knowledge.

Counterpoint: Robb was in open rebellion against the Kingdom. Frey had not rebelled (or even picked a side). He owed Robb nothing. Also, I think that the Freys are Lords under some ofthe area, not the North. Tullys maybe?

Freys are Robbs bannermen as the Tullys joined in naming him King in the North.

so perfect.. and so damn sad.. so damn sad.. so many good people.. who would have done good things.. just gone.

What I like about the twists in GoT is that it almost seems to have an emergent story line. As in, things HAPPEN, and story lines that have been set up in motion will be headed off the pass by other lines of logic (i.e. Robb offends some dipshits, they have all these plans, goes to wedding for respite. BAM dead).

About the only thing we can assume in GoT is that the outcome will not be as expected. It's a brutal brutal game.

I'm expecting none of the main candidates to take the throne in the end - Daenrys T, much as I love her character right now will probably get cut down in the 6th or 7th book.

Maybe the throne will end up with a dwarf on it! I wouldn't expect it from normal circumstances, but given the expect the unexpected nature of the series, that seems like a distinct possibility!

I don't understand people who say they want to quit the show.
Fuck that, maybe you should learn your lesson about getting so deeply emotionally invested in FICTIONAL PEOPLE.
Yeah it's sad, but whatever. I doubt the series would be popular if bad stuff happened nonstop and the good guys never catch a break, ever. Even if they don't, there's still a great story to follow.

What can happen now is limitless. If no one is safe, if Melisandre really did curse those three people (I kind of doubt that...this would have had to been in motion for a long while), if the war is almost over...Man. I can't even picture where the show will go now. And I find that exciting. Characters are dead but shit happens. The idea of the typical rules of television storytelling should have gone out the window in those terrible few seconds between Joffrey giving the command and Ned's head coming off. Those few seconds, there was not a single person who wasn't saying to themselves "Someone's going to jump in and stop it, right? They're not really going to do this are they? You don't kill your main character, right? RIGHT?!"

Should have taken a leaf from Ned's book.
"I was grew up with soldiers. I learned how to die a long time ago."

Have to hand it to the actor playing Robb in that last scene, his face has got a "holy fuck did I fuck up" look on it combined with a "not like this" sad look on it. Well done.

What you've done is come in here, dumped a load of information not in the show, and talk about 'ooh maybe this could happen, and this was supposed to happen...'. Oh and complained about the way things are presented in the books compared to the show. Read the OP? This thread isn't for that kind of thing.

It's extremely unfair on fans of the show, please don't do it.

I'm not entirely sure it matters who winds up on the throne. The real story is Westeros screwing around with this war while their doom descends from beyond the wall.

Bottom part I cut out is kind of a spoiler in and of itself and I'm not a spoiler nazi.

What do you mean? All of those houses are on the Game of Thrones TV show wiki page? Most of their leaders were present to some extent in Season 1, this information IS in the show.

That can not be the right way to fight with a spear. It just can't.

I mean, I don't know shit, but I'm pretty sure the point is is that it's long. Holding it halfway up and flipping it all around you seems like a easy way to get allies killed. They're spartans, not Neo.

i'm expecting the fattie to be on the throne at the end

I want Walder to be in the wrong too, but I think when there's a rebellion you have a little wiggle room. OTOH, no excuse for what he did this episode.

i realllllllly want arya to warm up the hound. the dude saved her life multiple times (she could have died on her own running from the brotherhood, and obviously the freys/boltons would have killed her at the wedding.)

i just have one question: where the fuck is arya's direwolf? i know sansa's got its head chopped, and now robb's has been bolted by the boltons. i'm assuming jon snow's is locked up in castle black this whole time. bran and rickon still have theirs. so where is arya's?

the only allies the Starks have left are the Tullies. Sansa is the heir of Winterfell now, I think, which makes Tyrion the King of the North. House Stark as a political power is pretty much non-existent now

is this true? if so, that is awesome. though i guess technically it would just be ruler of the north? he'd still be below the king.

i wonder if the scene where tyrion went to the Wall, at the very beginning of the show, was a foreshadow of this. tyrion would be the one who would have to deal with the white walkers.

When in the show is that stuff about that house building a Navy? That house hasn't even been named in the show as far as I remember.

Never mind that talking about what is possible or not possible, or talking about how 'it sucks that the TV show presents this in this way'.

Please just let us have this thread to talk about this show as if the books didn't exist, go post in the others. If information is present in the shows we are more than capable of finding it without your help.

Arya forced Nymeria to run away in S1 after she attacked Joffrey.

Pretty sure it has, also considering one of their house members were in this very episode in plain view.

Sure, I was just answering the question someone had...

I just noticed in the preview for next episode (next episode preview spoilers):
they briefly show Yara, Theon's sister. She hasn't been in the show at all this season, kind of strange for her to appear in this one scene.

Please listen to this man.

God damn this thread is a minefield.

He cut out speculation regarding the end of the series. I.e. material that doesn't even exist. I'm not even sure he even reads the books.

I said it earlier today, but if watching the series exclusively turns you paranoid, seeing spoilers at every corner, it might be best for your mental health to just read the books and enjoy the tv show as it comes afterward. With any luck, GAF can keep a lid on it all, but even if you don't get hit here, there's no telling where they'll pop up, especially with a series this big. I agree that you should be able to enjoy the storyline however you please and it's ridiculous that such a measure might even be necessary, but just think about it. You know. For your health.

I have a hard time believing the northerners will accept Tyrion as Lord of Winterfell. If anything, they may mock him for being the lord of a heap of ashes.

And I think that there may be a movement to kick the Boltons out of the north. I can't see them putting up with their troll attitude much longer. Cersei told Joffrey that the north can't be held because it's too big and wild. That means that the only thing holding the north together is an agreed upon peace among the lords. King's landing sure as hell can't control them. The nights watch can't control them, they have like 50 people lol.

Maybe the war of the five kings is over, but I feel that shit is about to go down civil war style in the north. There's no way in hell they will stand for the Boltons taking part in this disgusting act.

If he didn't leave his obsidian dagger on the ground like the dumb fattie he is, he might very well have!

he could still go back for it, meet up with bran and journey back into the north, etc. still some options on the table for him to rule the world

I'm pretty sure it hasn't.

Don't answer questions. If I'd asked last week "hey guiz does Robb die next week?" It wouldn't have been OK to say yes. Obviously this isn't the same level but it's the same idea.

Sorry if I'm having a go but people with exactly the same intentions as you came in here and revealed that Robb's wife was different in the show, and wasn't pregnant, which though it must have seemed harmless to them heavily hinted that her baby wasn't coming to term and she wouldn't live to be that important.

Things that you might not think will be spoilers often are.

I'm not entirely sure it matters who winds up on the throne. The real story is Westeros screwing around with this war while their doom descends from beyond the wall.

I'm not sure *that* is as interesting a story as one where there ends up been a victor... of course I expect total devastation of the kingdoms at that stage, but I guess it wouldn't be out of line with what the series has taught us so far; expect the unexpected!

The Boltons and the Freys control the North jointly now, as far as I'm concerned. The Stark forces are fucked.

But then again, who gives a shit about controlling the North at this point? White Walkers, yo.

So just watched the episode missed it last night. I hadn't read the books or seen any spoilers I am almost speechless. Fucking WOW this show is amazing I'm going to have to read the books I keep saying that but this seals the deal I want to know more details. The Starks were an amazing family but Rob fucked up and his whole family/army paid the price. He should have sucked it up man it's heartbreaking. I can't understand wanting to quit the show after this, but so many great stories are left to tell.

I'm actually very interested in seeing how Westeros reacts to the white walker threat.

just preview discussion
the Stannis kill list, remember? They have to bring the Greyjoys back into the picture somehow

Should be noted that Orell is not dead, he warged into his eagle and is now permanently controlling it. His human body is dead.

So...could wargs be immortal as long as they move into a new body before the old one dies?

Will Bran end up being an undying parasite demon king who will rule Westeros forever?

Plus, that's a hell of a lot of personality for a guy raised to be a robot. Whole scene was too cheesy action movie for me. The Hound vs Beric was so perfect that I had a lot of hope for any other fights. But this one and the Jamie/Brienne one were just awkward.
