I knew shits was gonna go down in this episode, because of all the new threads

but jesus christ

this was fucking brutal

wat

Also the slaver dude (new one) reminds me of that assassin whom Arya met.

crazy ass episode

She has the whole show riding on her back.

If Jon and Sam don't stop the White Walkers, Westeros is doomed.

Basically it depends on what comes first, the Long Winter or Danaerys' army. Dragons are all well and good but they probably don't do too well in subzero temperatures. Probably freezes their fire-glands.

I finally figured out where I remember Tobias Menzies from, he's that dude from rome. I kept thinking he looked like Julius Caesar, so that's apperently how my mind works:P

Yeah, he hasn't played a huge role in this series, but he was a pretty big character in Rome.

Good actor, imo.

The dragons are biological animals, so I imagine they probably have plenty of physical weaknesses. Getting to them is another matter.

At this point I say let the White Walkers eat everyone. It's a deeply troubled world and they'll cleanse it properly.

Bolton is one slimy fuck. Good actor though.

Would be a cruel joke if it turns out Westeros already in ruins when Dany arrives.

Why are we assuming Whitewalkers will make it to Westeros? We haven't had any indication that they're marching towards the wall, only the Wildlings.

If Mance's plan of burning the wall down doesn't come to fruition I don't see the threat of the Whitewalkers ever really being a thread.

Well guys, its the morning after. 7:40am in my little corner of the world and I still feel like shit. I think I slept 2 good hours and i had an actual dream about this goddamn show.

I am not even joking about this dream - Whoopi Goldberg, armed with a body full of explosives, hijacked a school bus with my 9 year old daughter on it, and drove it right into the throne room at King's Landings and blew the whole place off the face off the map as her revenge for what they did to the Starks. I could only watch in horror and woke up in a cold sweat.

Heheheheh not a spoiler:
when are we not?

Apart from the show's occasional divergences* from the books, I haven't had the opportunity to experience new stuff in Westeros or Esteros since I finished ADWD, so I love reading your reactions as a way to "relive" everything for the first time.

* where are the fucking direwolves??? :(

I loved last night's episode :D

I have to say, the bit that made me think the most is where Cat pleads with Walder to spare Robb, making various promises and vows, and Walder snorts and brushes her off. He was right to do so, funny enough, by the terms of honor this world operates on.

The problem with Ned, Cat, and Robb was that, by the lights of Westeros, they all shared a mass delusion: that they were the good guys. It's not just that the Starks had honor. They saw themselves as being the most honorable and pure family who did things "the right way", etc. And because of that they could talk themselves into dishonorable act in the name of the greater good. Robb made a hollow vow to Walder Frey because getting soldiers and taking down the "evil" Lannisters was for the good of the land. The good guys had to win, right?

Robb betrayed Walder because "twoo wove". It was practically stereotypically romantic that the beautiful lady from a faraway land sweeps in and they fall in love and even conceive a child and heir on like their first try. Walder's epic troll with his secret perfect daughter shows he was actually intent on doing Robb an excellent turn by Westeros standards, giving him the best of everything.

Meanwhile, contrast with Jaime Lannister's previous confession about the truth behind his "kingslayer" nickname, where he took down the mad king, saved a city like a big damn hero, but was reviled as an honorless pig of the arrogant and wicked Lannister dynasty.

I guess the final takeaway is that in this story there will be no good guys who are ever recognized and rewarded as such. Things are as grey as can be.

The next bright star to bring up the books in here is getting punted for a good long while.

Thank you. I check out the book thread from time to time and after every episode a bunch of users post how they stalk the non-book thread and wish to god they could post spoilers there to see our reactions.

Yeah, so many little hints and "oops I said a name that you didn't know yet, oh well get over it."

It just never ends. I'm half expecting someone to "accidentally" spoil the name of Theon's torturer soon and ruin that plot as well.

Unfortunately it has already been spoiled from his first appearance. :(

I beg you pardon, allow me to express myself more properly.

But Funky... at least we got proof that HotPie didn't eat the direwolves!
I'm sure he'll find a way to eat Grey Wind now though
"Hodor, stop Hodoring!"

Another thing lost because of the wedding. Jojen(?) looked pretty surprised that Bran was able to get into Hodor's mind. I don't think we've seen anyone else take control of humans yet, although maybe it only happened because Hodor doesn't have much brain power.

Whoa, it's on HBO Go starting right as it airs? I don't have to wait until it's over any more?!

Yea, I watched it on HBO GO a couple hours after it aired because I wanted to watch it at my computer, but the quality was awful because I'm guessing so many people were streaming, it got frustrating that right at the good parts the quality wold drop significantly, had to keep refreshing the page. I bet now that less people are watching it, it shouldn't be as bad, but I was disappointed that the quality dropped so often.

SILVER LININGS: No way this show is ever going to upset me this much again.

Jesus fucking Christ.

I'm going to hit the weights now. Fuck this shit.

1. The Wildings are massing South in a way no one has seen before. It's been hinted at since season 1 that they are fleeing to the point of taking risks to get as far south as possible. They are scared and know something is coming.

2. Winter is coming. When the Winter spreads across the land, so will the Walkers, or at least that's what the old stories said. And the old stories have some truth to them...

The White Walkers have an army that keeps replenishing itself with more corpses. This will mean they can just bruteforce the wall, either through bodies over bodies or pressing the gate in, one inch at at time.

Would be a cruel joke if it turns out Westeros already in ruins when Dany arrives.

Jorah should then turn to her and go "you just had to waste time and assimilate those last five slave armies, didn't you?"

I will be disappointed if we dont see Bran using Hodor as a battle mount in a future season.

If this doesn't happen then GRRM has failed at his job. I mean hell Bran could just possess Hodor and use him as a battering ram. Total missed opportunity if this doesn't happen.

Pretty much. Virtue is a death sentence in that world.

Well, I'm supposed to study but... By all that is holy, this must be the hardest, right-in-the-feels episode I've seen up until now. I knew what was going to happen but damn, the acting, the atmosphere, the music (Was that Rains of Castamere?) just everything...

I need to sit down for a moment and contemplate.

Just a characters recap from GoT at this point (S3-EP9).

"Hodor?" and "Magic Cock" got me good.

Anyway, WHAT THE FUCK?! Jesus christ this is a mess, i'm looking forward to seeing how GRRM/the show handles it from here more than anything. Like god damn that's a lot of dead folks.
