D'oh! Posted in the wrong thread.

Just watched the episode. Holy crap. What got me was the sheer brutality of it all, slit throats everywhere, knife to the fucking gut etc. I guess it's kinda based on the reality of this kind of period in our own history. Complete disreguard for human lifes. Fucking chilling.

Daenarys is actually quite a nice name.

I'd name my daughter that.

Relatives overseas would be able to call her "Deniz", friends and family would call her Dany.

So I was thinking of naming my children

Robb and Sansa.

Name them Cersei and Jaime

It's the part about the name being an obvious GoT reference that gets me. It'd be like finding out my parents named me after a character from Coronation Street. Just, no. Don't name your children after stuff they might not even give a shit about.

See, its not bad.

Guys what will become of house Stark now? Is there any chance for it to survive this?

I have to say, the bit that made me think the most is where Cat pleads with Walder to spare Robb, making various promises and vows, and Walder snorts and brushes her off. He was right to do so, funny enough, by the terms of honor this world operates on.

The problem with Ned, Cat, and Robb was that, by the lights of Westeros, they all shared a mass delusion: that they were the good guys. It's not just that the Starks had honor. They saw themselves as being the most honorable and pure family who did things "the right way", etc. And because of that they could talk themselves into dishonorable act in the name of the greater good. Robb made a hollow vow to Walder Frey because getting soldiers and taking down the "evil" Lannisters was for the good of the land. The good guys had to win, right?

Robb betrayed Walder because "twoo wove". It was practically stereotypically romantic that the beautiful lady from a faraway land sweeps in and they fall in love and even conceive a child and heir on like their first try. Walder's epic troll with his secret perfect daughter shows he was actually intent on doing Robb an excellent turn by Westeros standards, giving him the best of everything.

Meanwhile, contrast with Jaime Lannister's previous confession about the truth behind his "kingslayer" nickname, where he took down the mad king, saved a city like a big damn hero, but was reviled as an honorless pig of the arrogant and wicked Lannister dynasty.

I guess the final takeaway is that in this story there will be no good guys who are ever recognized and rewarded as such. Things are as grey as can be.

Good take

Oh man. My friend just told me the song being played during the wedding was Rains of Castamere, a Lannister song. Wow.

Tywin Lannister not only arranged this he made sure to put salt in the fucking wound. Man is a god damn beast...

To quote Kobe Bryant: "These young guys are playing checkers. I’m out there playing chess.”

The thought of having to wait a whole year again for the next season is more depressing than last nights episode IMO.

Welp...I didn't see that bloodbath coming. Not like that, at least. Half of the cast was just wiped out in one episode. Christ.

Just had to chime in... On how I feel right now.. Started reading the books and am nowhere near where the show is at right now but still....

....Shitttttttt....

Nice summary! When Jamie was talking about the Kingslayer and how his father basically used him you had to feel for the guy he just needed some love and hey who can relate better than your sister who deals with the bastard father as well.

Due to Jaime Lannister's change of heart and Tyrion being Tyrion I doubt we'll even get any kind of cathartic vengeance out of it because you can't kill the entire Lannister line (the only suitable revenge) without killing them.

Having the entire Frey line destroyed will have to do.

Oh yeah, I forgot about House Bolton.

So I was thinking of naming my children

Robb and Sansa.

Why would you jinx your kids like that? You might at well put a curse on them.

My world is still distorted today. I think it's going to be awhile before i recover. I hope to never watch that episode again.

I wished Arya would do the lord of light thing on Catalyn, Robb and his wife. But i'm sure it wouldn't work in that circumstance.

I don't think I can watch that episode again anytime soon or at all ughhh I can't stop thinking about it today sucks.

THE REVENGE YOU WANT WILL BE YOURS IN TIME...IF YOU HAVE THE STOMACH FOR IT.

IT'S OKAY LIL ARYA. STAY ALIVE AND GET STRONG. YOU WILL BE QUEEN ONE DAY.

No but really, I'm choosing to believe that that line was for us as well. We have to learn from Varys here. HE faced some horrible shit but he was patient and got his payback. We have to be patient and pull a Stannis. Slink into the shadows until we're strong. Down, but not out.
I hope they enjoy their success while they can, because WINTER IS COMING.

I don't know how long the timeline is from the start of the series until it ends (NOT LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER) but I'd have to think if Arya does go the revenge route doesn't she have that coin she got from Jaquen?

I'm a bit hazy on it but didn't he pretty much say she can take that and join whatever group he's a part of to learn the dark arts or something like that? If I were her I'd be taking him up on his offer.

I think the only dude imune to death is the fat crow that can kill white walkers. He is that typical oblivious guy that lucks out every time and none cares about him.

Like someone said at the wedding: " the gods loves to reward fools"

you can name them Walder & Walda

Seeing that now knowing what is coming is the biggest FU to Robb.

I thought this same thing after watching now is the perfect time for her to be trained.

She needs to find someone form Bravoos, give them the coin and say "valar maguhellus"

I want this man to return, and teach her Leon the professional style to be an assassin!!!!!!

By god the Stark's have to have some kind of revenge man This is not fair.

With all the magic this show has, i hope somebody comes back.

In my fantasy world Ned and Robb come back with a ghost army and murderer everybody. Then rebuild winterfell and settle back down will all the family. Heh. :(

Just finished watching the episode.

What... the... fuck?

I cannot think of another comparably brutal hour of television. For me, a sense of dread kicked in as Cat's nephew and his almost wife were dragged away, somehow before anything bad had really happened. Things only escalated, horribly, from there. It actually took a bit of conscious effort for me not to turn away.

Seeing Talisa repeatedly stabbed was awful. Rob's reaction to everything was perfect in the saddest of ways: acknowledgment of what was going on, letting go, shock permeating throughout. Cat's last ditch attempt to save her child, followed by bottomless suffering, and then death...

Roose Bolton is officially my most hated character. Walder Frey is close, but there's something about Bolton and how eager he was to betray Rob and then essentially spit in his face as he died that seriously annoys.

Bran, Arya, Rickon, Jon, and Sansa are really all that's left, then? Jesus.
